Just made the plunge into LEGO Trains!

Kyphur, please see this list I put together awhile ago to help you do so. After spending a small fortune collecting MISB 10020s, 10022s, 10025s and completing my Super Chief I used the list I compiled to construct more 10022 cars using the cheaper 10025 cars. Last I checked 10025s were about half the cost, probably more than that now, of 10022.

    REVIEW: 7939 Cargo Train

Received this set today and was bummed when I saw that the train base plate for the engine was severely warped, scuffed, and had gouged edges. I requested a new one through Lego. The other loose pieces were fine. As always, more effort needs to be invested in packaging the instructions and sticker sheets, as mine were badly bent, but fortunately still usable. I've got the engine assembled now and it looks better than I thought it would (lots of stickers though!). The on/off mechanism is clever. I was also surprised by the size of the remote (my first), a lot smaller than it appears to be in pictures (as if it were intended for a child's hands, go figure ).

    Collectable Minifigure Display

Perhaps this is the one you are referring to? Holds 15 figs for $15, available through US S@H

    City 2010

I posted this in the Train Tech forum but thought I would share the news here as well: the cargo train and level crossing are now available through S@H in the US. Cargo Train: $180 Level Crossing: $20

  6. The vast majority of mine are this way as well. Furthermore, what would be considered their pelvis is flexible, if you hold the base and press down/wiggle their head side to side, you can see their hip joints flex left and right. Agreed. Reportedly series 2 will still have barcodes while series 3 will not. Visited a few TRUs as my local LEGO store was out of stock, and it was interesting to see how different locations sold them. One store had the box in with the regular sets (one lonely magician left when I got to it), another had them behind the customer service counter with a limit of 5, and another kept them behind the registers in the electronics department, with no limit. Between the 3 TRUs I visited I was able to score 13 of the 16 (missing nurse, cowboy, and wrestler). Not bad, but $2.50 adds up quick.

    2010 Train Sets

Double VIP points and 2 of the new train sets are available. Unfortunately for my wallet this is more incentive to spend. I'll probably pass on this one but will strike when the level crossing and cargo train are added (soon I hope). If the passenger train is $130 I'm hoping the cargo train will be kept to $150 (given it has 170 more parts and better track selection). Wishful thinking Read in the description that the passenger train can handle up to eight cars. I think that's pretty respectable. I hope LEGO releases the new PF train motor for individual sale soon, those RC ones are garbage.

    REVIEW: 3221 City Truck

Interesting, my set has the old style panels w/o the side support. My only knock on this set, aside from the sheer length of it, is the fact that the panels leave an unsightly gap at the back of the cab. The gap is somewhat covered up by the smoke stacks and may not look as bad if your set includes the new panels.

    Is Green Grocer gone?

I stand corrected. It is indeed under hard to find items (I looked in the exclusives category, where it was before). I just got into the modular series and cannot believe the secondhand prices ($300+) of Cafe Corner, so I am happy to have purchased Green Grocer given its seemingly near fate. Eager to add the others.

    Is Green Grocer gone?

Lucky me I guess, I bought it yesterday from my nearby LEGO store. Buy 'em up before they reach Cafe Corner prices! S@H for the US no longer has Green Grocer listed under exclusive and hard to find items, but Grand Emporium has been added with a scheduled release date of February 20th.

    REVIEW: 3179 Repair Truck

I was also skeptical about this set, but when placing a recent S@H order I couldn't resist the urge to add it to my cart. After putting it together, I'm glad I bought it. The art on the front of the box does not do the set justice. I would have photographed the truck from the passenger side (with the boom extended), highlighting the two compartments as well as the boom.

    2010 Train Sets

I think you just nailed it. If you look at the box art of the station you can make out two white poles extending from the top of the overpass, with a blur of red underneath them. Oh well, cargo train is a must buy, just have to keep waiting and hold out some hope on the passenger train.

    2010 Train Sets

No, but those lights do not show up on any of the other boxes for City 2010 sets. Happy to speculate further... The green grass and blue sky are consistent with the coloring on the box art of the passenger train, leading me to continue to believe the passenger train is elevated. Also looks like a good place to add the train station (just look at how tall that thing is). I don't see any other sets on there with that much grass artwork/background. However, the "rails" are red, and don't appear to be a standard dual rail setup so I don't know what to make of that. Wish that gal wasn't so strategically located! Squinting even harder at the high res picture from I Scream Clone here, looks like there is a white support underneath the left side. Everyone sees what they want to believe and may consider this all wishful thinking on my part, but frankly, I'm not too worked up about the passenger train. Just excited to see new stuff in the train line and question what it all could be. Now let the speculation continue...

    2010 Train Sets

Can't wait to get my hands on the new cargo train. Is it just me or does the box art for the red passenger train appear to have elevated track? I think we're getting the elevated passenger train from the public transportation center in the TRU poll, and the yellow LEGO truck is along the same lines as the one seen in the truck stop option (just like the Octan tanker scheduled for release, which also appeared in that potential set). I wouldn't get too hung up on price just yet, we all love trains and know that if we want to continue to see them we have to buy them. Great news all around, looking forward to more detailed pictures.
