Anio replied to ImAChangedMan's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I got the new version. Right on time for some parts I need. :) Thanks ! -
Hi there ! Can you please report this auction : https://www.ebay.de/itm/LEGO-Bauanleitung-MOC-fur-Venator-Star-Destroyer-UCS/322980111128?hash=item4b331d6318:g:HuIAAOSw6KVZiY8r @ other UCS MOCer : be warned, according to his feedback, this son of a b**** sold quite a lot of instructions over the last months... Report please.

Yes, they are still available. Just mail me at setechnic@gmail.com

Make rear edge vertical. You have to use pictures for reference. But do not necessarily stick to them for every aspect of the ship. Sometimes, you have to make some details different for the model to look better in Lego bricks. I think you have to rework the section behind the cockpit. It must be more massive, and you have to put more flow in it.

I can see how you got some inspiration from my model. It is a good start. I would suggest to make it thicker, though. Add 1 plate below the white slopes 4x1 curved. For the fins, I am also not sure that plate 2x6 with round corner and plate 3x3 cut corner are a good idea. Front wedge need to be more vertical (use wing 3x2 or 4x2). At this size, I think you can do the underside with tubes outside. That would simplify the whole built a lot. Make the red thing behind the windscreen 5 studs wide. With 4L wide, it is too narrow.

Nice buildings, cool details. I love it !

42077 Rally Car - with A & B model RC mod
Anio replied to kbalage's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
+1 with Erik. I was doing the same comparison with 42039 that I consider to be a very meh model. And this one seems even worse. Technically poor, and not so good looking. Hell, how is it possible to release a set with such wheel arches in 2018 ? T_T -
Thank you for your feedback. ;) I am glad you like my design. :)

Nice model AND nice build. Maybe you can use plate 1x1 with hole and a bar to strenghten a bit the engines.

EDIT : Professional building instruction available here : You can email me at setechnic@gmail.com /EDIT Hello everyone, Here is my latest MOC : a UCS AAT. UCS AAT by Anio, sur Flickr UCS AAT by Anio, sur Flickr UCS AAT by Anio, sur Flickr My FlickR gallery for more photos : And My Brickshlef gallery for even more photos : http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=540525 Few words about the model : - it uses a lot of tan bricks and I like that. Still, 2 parts (cones) are painted because not yet available in tan. I thank Nicks, a Belgian AFOL, for his help to paint those 2 parts. - the model has the features you can expect from a UCS model : all cannons rotating, with friction to keep an angle. The cannons on the sides use gears for that. - the model has a realistic interior with seats, controls, periscope, etc. The back door can be opened and the side panels can be easily removed to see more details. - the model is only made out of 1,000 bricks. I think it is a reasonnable amount of parts given the features included. - as usual, the model comes with a display card. - technically speaking, the model is not that complex. You have some SNOT here and there, and few other techniques. - but the design process was still tricky. First, I had to make the model "hollow" to put an interior. But this should not compromise the outside look. - overall, I had to adapt the real model for it to fit the Lego system. If you analyse closely, you will see that I totally redesigned some areas for the model to looks cool with Lego Bricks. It is hard to explain. But for you to get the idea, I would say that is was important to keep both a nice flow and the key lines of the model, in order to catch the spirit of the AAT. Some other pics : UCS AAT by Anio, sur Flickr A short video to see the model in flesh : If you have any question, please, ask. Stay tuned for the next UCS model. ;) Anio

Another 6ft long SSD Executor (fully complete).

Great design, great details. Bravo ! Regarding the bottom wings, I can see you used mini turntable. But how did you connect the brick 2x2 to the structure ? -
Technic 2018 Set Discussion

These wheel arches... Kill me now. -
Some car paint. Once the hue is ok, any type of spray paint is ok. Well, that's how I do...
-
Yeah. There are some parts you won't find in the right colors, cause they don't exist. Macaroni 4x4 dark red, big curved slopes white, wedge 3x10 dark red. If the part doesn't exist, then it is painted. I guess it is less than 5 refs.
-
I got mine in light bluish gray. Slope 2x1 curved is now available in dark red.

Not at all. 16/t/16t at a 90° angle wont work. You have to use bevel gears. You also have to avoid 8t. Too much torque here for 8t. Worm gear is a nice idea, but with 24t. 24t/16 implies an half stud offset which make the construction less strong. You have to look to 7191 and 10240 (and as many Technic set as you can) to get some Technic knowledge.
-
Note that with current design, engines will go off because of torque as they are only attached by pins. You must use some transversal structure (have a look to 10212).
-
It is certainely better. Replace 12 simple bevel by 12 double bevel. They are stronger when they have to deal with high torque.
-
Tiles add an extra texture/variation to the wings, which is not a bad thing in my opinion. And of course, it enables the R2 unit to rotate properly. I also didn't want to put the turntable IN the wings. I wanted to keep the plate 6x6 LBG to maintain the integrity of the build.
-
That one must be tricky to do with Lego bricks. :o Thanks. I have to say that I quite like the cockpit how it is. I can't think of any possibility to make it in a different way. Regarding the shoulders of R2, this is something I considered. But I didn't includ it for 2 reasons. First, they are located diagonally on the real Jedi Interceptor, which doesn't fit with the studs on the wings. Second, if I add mini slopes to reproduce the shoulders, they will appear to be too high. Indeed, the shoulders are partially in the thickness of the wing. See picture.

So many 8t in line ? T_T When was the last time you built a Technic set ? Oo
