    [Digital MOC] Modular University

Thank you, I will probably not be getting around to realizing this project :( Thanks, and yeah it would be pretty costly but still manageable. With an average price of 0,12 per brick it would amount to round about 2000€ if you would purchase every part. But that still is the whole university and it's pretty much modular and one could start with a few modules ... if you want to take a look at the modules in the original .lxf file, I could upload it to a good host (any suggestions?). I also wouldn't mind if you 'steal' from the design, as long as you send me a pm, so i can have a look at the result;) Thanks, hmm I don't think I know that one. I will give it a shot since i usually like Jean Reno's style. remeber^^ I only know it in german ("Die Purpurnen Flüsse") but I'm not sure to which part of the movie you are referring? Thanks! It was a quick spark of an idea and ended up looking pretty good, the real building doesn't have the extension and the audimax is located elsewhere in the city, but I didn't want to break up the block. Thanks, that's what I'm going for most of the time, but usually run up to the parts limit in ldd or loose my interest in the MOC before I get to the interior. Making the MOCs modular often helps but you still need to create variations 'by hand'. Thank you, I would love to build this stuff with real bricks, but I don't have the space :/ So the digital domain has to do for now, but there are also pro's, like building modular and copieng cleverly;) I would love to see some boolean logic added to the selection tool in LDD and maybe a way to define symmetry axis, though.

    [Digital MOC] Modular University

Modular University Hi, this is my take on a university build in a modular fashion and inspired by the main building of the RWTH Aachen. It features three storeys, two audimaxi and handicapped accessible construction. It's certainly not my biggest MOC with 18 549 pieces but the elevators are fully playable and the interior as well (no empty rooms!). Above the main entrance a cafeteria has been established. The elevator can be operated by turning the wheel on the roof. The Arts and Engineering department features an exhibit of a model of the university building, a recording studio with an ensemble of instruments and some heavy test equipment and tools down in engineering. A lecture hall with several stereoscopic microscopes is located in the upper floor in the Biology department. There is a study and an exhibit with some fascinating animals as well as a secondary entrance on the floors below. The Medical department has a small lecture room, a lab and two rooms for intensive care patients. The Management department houses some offices and sinks for public access. The extension of the Medical department adds a proper lecture hall, a second lab and more intensive care and first aid treatment facilities. The Chemistry department features a lecture room, exhibits and a lounge on the ground and a spacious lab on the upper floor. Who knows what's being brewed or distilled with these elaborate contraptions? The floors above the Computer Science department provide access to the two main lecture halls and showcase some old and bley technology as well as a cutting edge mainboard used in the high performance computing center downstairs. The department also houses some public access terminals and a spacious lecture room. And last but not least, all three floors in the composition of all the modules:

    Steam Castle Falls

Someone needs to pick up my jaw, 'cause it just dropped ... freaking amazing MOC. There's just an incredible amount of detail in there, all those little corners and creative vehicles and contraptions, I just love it! Every part of it :D

    [Digital MOC|WIP] Leif Erickson

As there is a lot of space left in the belly of the ship, I would like to ask you guys if there is _anything_ (doesn't need to be PG13 ;) just send me a pm and will include it as a secret) you want to see added. There already are lots of pyramids (even with eyes) and of course an initiation pyramid with a golden apple on top (too bad 13 steps were too high :( ) but as quite some time has passed since I read the novels and I've lent them to a friend, I'm kinda lost in terms of the lore. Help me out, please (btw: a nice excuse to read the books again :P )!

Of course, but it's supposed to be realistic on the inside as well as the hull and the minifig scale is great tradeoff between detail, accuracy and playability. Here is a rendering of the ship with the golden pieces deleted, so the interior and wood works are more visible:

Most of the parts are Warm Gold and only a few in Metalized Gold, but yeah, it would definitely be quite expensive. Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy it. So surely it's not an issue of memory size, maybe it's a limitation in geometry that OpenGL can handle. I exported some big models to blender and it wasn't able to load them (I thought about scripting a ray-cast method that deletes geometry that isn't hit, so basically all the internal complexity of surfaces that wouldn't be visible anyway. Would be a nice fix to get big models into the Unity game engine). Well, back on topic, I got some design on the bridge and periscope done (sorry, haven't had the time to render so this is just a screencap):

Thanks, it really is a pity, I would love to brick build this model in particular. Thanks, I think I might be able to top that with the Leif Erikson at about 600 studs of length :D And here is the closeup from last night: The full view has some problems with heavy reflection because of the extreme camera angles, should've changed the light settings...

Yep that's about the same limit I encountered, sometimes it's more or less depending on the complexity of the model. I'm running a quadcore with 2.8GHz and 4GB RAM, would be interesting if someone with more RAM has the same limit ... Thanks, I'm currently rendering on full view and closeup of the first deck, on the other hand a smaller rendering just finished and you can find a higher resolution version of the image above here. Flak Turret, Torpedo banks, Double Sealed Hatch and 2 of the 8 engines

Thanks! Thank you and about a real version of this MOC ... well, maybe I could afford it (would need to order a lot of golden parts though^^) but I don't have the space for it, too bad :( Thanks! It would be about 470cm long in real life :D Thanks, Bob De Quatre! I will make sure to post some updates soon ;)

This is the Leif Erikson, Hagbard Celine's submarine from the Illuminatus! trilogy. I'm still working on the interior, going with a steampunkesque wood/gold/metal look. This MOC already features 3 Torpedo banks (fully playable), 8 intercontinental missiles, large flak canons and 8 fully functional engines. All in minifig scale (is there any other scale? ;) ) I will post updates when I have some progress on the MOC, that I can cram into an image. Hope you enjoy my take on this iconic (at least for those who read the books) vessel.

Wow that looks great! Lot's of awesome part use on such a tiny scale, very creative.

Starcraft Lego Battlecruiser Mk.II "Norad II"

Great MOC of an awesome and iconic Spaceship. The lighting is great, i guess the exposure of the image is a bit too low, but the lights set nice highlights on the model. I would love to see some playability added to it though:)

    [Digital MOC] Submarine Research Station

Thanks, I tried to use a design for the subs that's similar to the style of the station. And I wanted them to be attachable to the double hatches with simple technics parts for playability, that limited the design choices for the front. Thank you and make sure to check out the lxf file, as there are many details that were hard to capture in renderings :)

Thank you. Thanks, and feel free to go ahead and use the original file, just let me know when you publish it, as I would really like to take a look at it when you are done :)
  15. Another very modular MOC, but this time it's my take on an underwater research station. I used 23769 bricks for this model, featuring underwater rivers of heavy fluids and multiple dig sites. As well as construction sites: Resource processing facilities: And, of course, submarines: And last but not least, renderings of some of the modules: And feel free to explore the *.lxf for yourself.
