  1. Since it was a slow afternoon, I randomly decided to swing by my nearby store, to check if there's anything good on sale. Managed to snag the last UCS Falcon in store for 610 EUR. Now I'm debating on going back for Slave I, which was also on sale...

    Do you tsundoku sets?

Yup, I have a sizable baclog myself, though mostly due to lack of space and permanent storage/display area. I'm a postgrad student, living in a shared apartment, so my bigger LEGO purchases are shipped to my parents' house and stored in my old room, until I can get a better living place for myself. Current unopened hoard includes Mercedes Arocs truck, UCS Snowspeeder, Saturn V, Ninjago City, Ghostbusters HQ, Diner modular, some LEGO store promo sets and random polybags. There's also some stuff like 8480 Technic Space Shuttle and 8421 Technic Crane that came off Bricklink, which I intend to enjoy putting together when my life becomes less hectic. Though it's veeery tempting to crack open a box at times...
  3. Thanks for this. I've been meaning to get myself a few RCX bricks, since I have acquired an abundance of 9V motors and RCX sensors second hand, and have mostly used them with NXT via converters. With your findings, it should make it less daunting to set everything up.
  4. Okay, now that I've managed so sneak a peek, I can finally comment. Harvester looks interesting. Color scheme is debatable, but I'll be getting it for its uniqueness and because I love pneumatics. Also, great to see some studded beams on the crane. Futuristic loader looks really out there. Return of the big bucket! Should fit right in with the Futuristic Tow Truck. Crane looks good, I dig the red color and seemingly plate-built stabilizer pads. Will be interesting to see why the box is so big. These look to be some great models and I can't wait what the flagship is like.
  5. Very excited for the X-Wing, might be the first one I'll buy. Looking forward to clearer pics.

    Storage and Sorting LEGO

Hmm, I might have to check up on my long-term storage boxes, to see how my ziplock bags fare.
  7. Frankly, I prefer the open approach. To me, Technic is all about seeing awesome complex mechanisms at work. I haven't yet opened my Porsche, but from what I've read, pretty much everything interesting gets covered up, which is one of the reasons I was having trouble deciding whether to buy it. All in all, I'd prefer a conservative usage of panels. But I still prefer the current panel generation to the old ones which often had shapes that were complicated to mount/not enough mounting holes.
  8. Not too much. I generally use it to unwind from university/job stress, though that's mostly building sets. Not enough space for building at my current apartment. Yup. I love snow. Doubtful, since my family likely won't get me any LEGO. Not really, I might build a set, either Volvo EW160 or CLAAS. Uhhhh, that's hard... I like yellow or red for heavy machinery.

    What did you buy today?

I've been looking at Ninjago Destiny's Bounty for the past two weeks at my local Mueller store. Finally took the plunge and bought it for 140 EUR, since there were only two on the shelf left. Also managed to snag 70632 Quake Mech for 54 EUR, yay.

    What did you buy today?

Managed to get the last Old Fishing Store box in my local store!
  11. Snagged a 75144 UCS Snowspeeder at an okay discount, for my area at list. Still debating getting UCS Slave
  12. Oh man, this is super neat. I may have to give this a try with the 3D printer I have access to at my uni.

    What did you buy today?

Almost finished up my 2016 Technic collection by buying 42054 CLAAS. Now I need to decide between UCS Snowspeeder and BWE...

    Heavy mobile drilling platform

Nice job, I especially like the pipe crane mechanism!

    What did you buy today?

Finally bought Ninjago City. Now it gets to sit boxed on my shelf until after exams
  16. I've been testing leJos with my old NXT brick and something seems to be wrong. When I flash the brick with latest leJos firmware, it works fine. After some time, it starts spewing some garbage onscreen: The only thing I can do is press Off button, but then it doesn't boot up again and I need to try multiple leJos/official firmware reflashes to get it to work. Has anyone encountered anything like that? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  17. Very familiar sight, yes And that mop is ingenious
  18. Oh yes, I'd also be interested in instructions for this!
  19. This is easily one of the best telehandlers Technic I've seen. Especially love the automatic fork leveling. Can't wait for more details and a video.
  20. Out of my regular sets... UCS Millennium Falcon (purely for geek value) or the Ghostbusters' Ecto 1. Though 8285 Tow Truck is a serious contender as well.

What is the best surface to build on?

I use this, just bigger: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80012853/ It's a rubbery mat that's slightly texturized. It generally prevents small pieces from rolling and is non-slippery, so it does not slide around the table when moving bigger sections of builds. Also helps prevent damage to my wooden tables, which is a nice bonus. Some trays can also be very useful.

    New Bricklink Format

Yes, I really hope the dust settles soon. I've been tracking threads on multiple webpages (Reddit, Eurobricks, Facebook, Bricklink) and it's interesting how different the opinions are. Reddit threads seems majorly positive, while BL forums are a bashfest right now...

    New Bricklink Format

I'm fairly happy with Wanted List managing, it's very responsive and easy to modify items. However, I've noticed two things, and filed a bug report for these: 1. If I add "Have" quantity to some items in Wanted List, the new Wanted List Buying dialog will correctly mark these as fulfilled (or partially fulfiled). However, if I check wanted list in a particular store via in-store tab, the items which I have marked as fulfilled still show up. This is a major problem with big Wanted Lists and larger specific quantities of parts where you just can't remember every change you've made. 2. When using new Wanted List Buying dialog, and clicking a store to view lots in the pop-up window, the average price percentage indicators are great. However, they are calculated badly. Via some back-of-the-napkin math I've discovered that, regardless of item condition they sum 6 month average of new AND used items and then calculate price percentage off that value. Obviously this is misleading and leads to skewed percentages. For me, these markers right now are virtually useless.
