175A Sometimes life isn't just pack of rainbow jellybeans. Sometimes rage hidden inside just got to come out. It's not about girls doing boys' stuff, it's about girls not being good anymore... My 4 YO daughter asked if friends minidolls can be pirates too. Of course they can! With this fast sloop they can plunder, murder and do other pirate stuff. This sloop has machine sewn PVC-fabric sails and shooting cannons armed with pink bullets. Beware Heartlake mall! C&Cs welcomed

Here's my little upgrade for Brick Bounty: Topsail and gaff added. 174D Sails are made of PVC fabric and dyed red with permament marker. And second upgrade: lifeboat added. C&C welcomed

[pid][/pid] 156C Hi Here, I present to you Bluecoats Ship l’Hermes, the fastest ship on the seven seas. She’s a Sebeus’ Zephyr-class brig. Here’s a story. Sebeus I, the Pirate once worked for the Bluecoats, but eventually his pirate nature won. Bluecoats couldn’t stand the fact, that they lost Zephyr, the fastest ship that ever was. So they decided to build something even faster. They took Zephyr’s plans and they improved it (at least they thought so). They changed bow, stern, masts etc, leaving only broadsides untouched, as they found it perfect. So here it is: Hermes, owner of winged sandals and winged cap, messenger of the gods, god of commerce, thieves, travelers, sports, athletes, and border crossings, guide to the Underworld. Hermes is a brig built on a small prefab hull with two midsections. Small hull is pretty narrow, but that makes ship very fast with these big machine-sewn pvc-fabric sails. I built the sides using Sebeus’ “simplified tumblehome” technique. Not-so-simple, you know Lifeboat can be lowered down. I’ve never seen this kind of solution before, so I guess I’m the first one to build it (or not?). Notice the stern, I’m pretty proud of it. I’ve made all of lines by myself, using flax (linen) thread, as I couldn’t get hemp-made one (you know why), like those used on real tallships in the sail-age. But it looks similar I think, besides you can’t get high with flax other way than just climbing. Hermes has an interior and a captain’s cabin as well. It’s rather tight, but its fully accessible and it’s probably first one built on a SMALL hull (is it?). Only issue is that plume must be taken off the hat before closing roof. On the left: bluecoat infantry. They are to help musketeers - famous Cocteau Twins (in front of a picture) in their secret mission ordered by Roi-Soleil himself. On the right you can see marines commanded by Admiral Jean Marie Baptiste Louis Francois Brickeur Comte de Stud. There are no sailors on the picture because they actually took this photo. Admiral Jean Marie Baptiste Louis Francois Brickeur Comte de Stud followed by his personal cook inspects his marines (I believe the name of the one with a moustache is Rene Artois). I've used this part in my curent WIP Neptune. You can notice this part underneath the side galleries. Also, Kolonialbeamter used it in his LDD projects, for ex. here.

This is Redcoats Ship Neptune: And with the crew: She is a 2-gun-deck ship built with a slope-tumblehome technique: An eagle-eye view: As she was built as a playable toy for my kids, Neptune is very solid. It is the first MOC I started to build - but finished second - after Redskull sloop. I also thought that Neptune will be my opus magnum, but that's not true - I am already working on another ship (for bluecoats) which will be better for sure. Here's another look on Neptune's brave crew: The poop deck: Let's look into captain's cabin: Redcoating ain't easy... Cabin is also accesible from the stern: Like this: Stern: Here you can see hammocks: Gundeck is also accesible: Capstan works for both anchors and crane. Sorry for a bit fuzzy pictures. Neptune was built to chase and fight pirate ships: QAR, BP and aforementioned Redskull. That's why she has untypical rigging with four masts (with machine sewn PvC fabric sails). UPDATE I've been working on my ship for some time. I think it looks much better now. I'm pretty proud how galleries turned out. Still many things to do- there are no decks, cannonns, headrails and many other things. I also think, that bonaventure mizzen should be removed and mizzen should be gaff-rigged. And what do you think, fellow companions?

The design of those chaser guns is a win. I simply love it. And I think you shouldn't shorten masts, at least not before seeing it with sails on. On my Hermes (clone of Zephyr) I also have enormously tall masts, but at the end of the day it looks OK. But I think you'd definitly make the bowsprit longer. Brick on, the ship looks great. 

Looking nice so far. I bet she'll only get better Anyway - I know you're not looking for advice, so maybe I should just shut up - but: don't you think, that this wedge could help with smoothness of a stern? Keep it up!

Huh. I loved it on a prefab hull and I love it as a waterline model. And the flag is really nice. I see you becoming master-of-a-sewing-machine . Are those cannons printed or hand-painted? Great job. Outstanding.

Thanks! And about those arms: right arm works well but the left one hangs loose – for sure that happens because of poor quality of CMFs. You just gave me an idea of mixing my ship with this mech I own (colors match perfect), to create very first lego tallship transformer. Hmmmm…. Let me think again. I knew you gonna like it. The truth is that it was much easier for me to build Hermes, while having Zephyr in my sight. I was dealing with small hull with two midsections for some time (e. g. I tried to include a slope-builded tumblehome) when You posted your Zephyr. I found it a perfect solution for a ship this size, so yes, it was a great inspiration for me. Thanks again Thank You, Sir! Feel free to use this solution! Thank you, as I wrote above, I’m proud of the stern. And yes, it took a lot of work to finish the sails. But I think you know that best. I had to skip on headrails, because I wanted to include those white wings for Hermes figure. Adding hedrails while leaving wings would demand rebuilding the bow section but for sure it’s a thing to think about. I build my ships for my kids to play, so that’s why I do not implement custom rigging, and that’s why I used heavy artillery (it’s much cooler, you know ). Mr.Townsend said: Workin with the sewing machine was definitely difficult at first. This was due mainly to having to run each line multiple times trying to keep them straight and ontop of each other. You can spot a few areas where I did that poorly. I've gotten a fair amount more skilled since those first three to the point where I won't be using those two top royals. To avoid sewing lines mor than once, I used thicker thread, I bought in haberdashery (I don't know if I'm using right term - I mean a shop that sells fabric and threads). It is thick enough to sew each line only once. If you got this kind of shop near you - maybe it's worth to go there.

And about last lateen mast - bonaventure mizzen was often used on bigger galleons, so I used it too. @ Grimmbeard: no, it wasn't based on Endeavour, it was rebuilded few times, untill reaching current form (and I still think about rebuilding it again:-). I'll try to photograph the process of making sails, while making them for another ship and post it.

Nice ship. She sure needs some final touch, but most parts are already in place. And one thing - with those 18 guns she shouldn't be called 'easy':-).
