LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Thor Lund replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hi all, - SPOILER - if you enjoy surprises you may want to skip this post - SPOILER - Please excuse my ignorance if someone else has already posted this, but I wanted to share with you a neat trick I was shown in a toystore yesterday. I gave my five minifig bags to the girl at the register who had a quick look at each of them, handed one back to me and said "This is a double, you might want to choose another...". Boy was I surprised, and thankful :0P Each bag has two barcodes on the back, and one can be used to identify the figure inside. At least this stayed true for my five bags. The beginning seems to be the same and only the last 10 lines or so are unique as shown in red above. It's not easy to tell, but at least it can help you to check for duplicates by quickly comparing your bags in the shop. Now for identifying which figure corresponds to which code; I guess I'll just have to buy them all again and keep track of the bag this time... :0P Here's the five I got: From the second series I am still missing the Spartan, Swimsuit, Skier and Mexican, so if you happen to have the bag lying around post me a picture :0P Thor -
Eurobricks Collectable LEGO Minifigures Series 2 Building Contest
Thor Lund replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I love these minifigs, even if it drives me nuts trying to collect them all! I have an army of cowboys but not a single pompom girl... (second series have not arrived yet where I live!) Anyway, here's my entry. Thor -

"We'll be rich! We'll tour the every town and win every match! Mohahahahaha... Now go get him!!!" << Insert wrestler here >> -
No gifts this year...! Santa's sleigh went down at the end of last year's round and he has been stranded on a deserted island ever since, surviving on reindeer meat and swiss chocolate gifts. Thor

Video of Lego Buddhist Temple In Pop-Up Book
Thor Lund replied to RepublicForces's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm with Jipay on that one. For me just making such a building on its own would be a feat, but to think he has engineered it to fold into its own box... no words (nor fitting icon). -
Wow, I can't believe my name is on the list! What a great surprise Thanks KimT, your present spree is most welcome! Congrats to DutchRebel, and hope everyone else will get their names up one of these days! Cheers Thor

[Brick Flick] The Nightly News at Nine
Thor Lund replied to fallentomato's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Man, your story is so good. Love the punch-line, we are evil, so absurdly realistic... You master rhythm and pace really well, I guess you animate to the voice. Would be cool if you had a few words about how you work and tools you use, I think many of us have a lot to learn from you. Patiently awaiting more! Thor -
Loved the first one, I was so into a serious mood as I went down the pictures (humming the Imperial March in my head) and studying your photo skills and wondering about the choice of grayscale, and then the end caught me completely off guard ! You are really good at blending the minifigs into landscape, that is not easy though you make it seem so. I would have liked to see some of your intro text given in the post to the photos themselves as well. Looking forward to more! Thanks Fenris.

I really like the farmland too, that is something I do not see very often and here there is a really wide collection of different fields and produce. The whole setup is really well done.

Like everyone has said, that is really impressive. I keep looking at an empty corner in our apartment imagining the massive size of that tower... boy, I wish I had a similar amount of pieces, looking at the video makes me want to replace our TV rack and DVD shelves with a huuuge castle! Great piece, really inspiring. Thor

For the Mac use the built-in Preview app. Open your image and go to Tools -> Adjust size. Or what I often do is just to pop it into Mail pretending to send myself a email, it gives you three quick controls for resizing your image (Medium work well for this). Cheers Thor

Cultural differences are so great and I love when it come out like this. Mom was visiting from Norway (I live in France) and with my wife we were preparing a sea-food fondue, and as we poured a bottle of wine in that was exactly what she said... Don't waste the wine! (almost understandable with the alcohol prizes in norway) She did love the meal though I'm still in trouble with my wife for putting her on a chair to reach the kitchen bench, I even played my "artistic freedom" card and failed... Great to see comics having it's own forum! Cheers Thor

French cuisine meets Norwegian drinking culture
Thor Lund replied to Thor Lund's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Yeah I use ComicLife, it's brilliant for this kind of stuff. Gives it a nice professional look without too much effort , thought the sound effects are starting to get on my nerves I also use OmniGraffle which is great for all things layout. Thor -
One of my favorites is the Holy Grail dance made for Monty Python. It's more of a pro production than most but it makes me smile every time, and it was one of my turning points for trying stop-motion filming again! name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>"]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>"]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350">Thor

Hi All, The details: Name: Thor (actually Tormod, but no one around me can pronounce that ) Age: 30 Nationality: Norwegian Location: On the border between Switzerland and France Profession: IT The rest: I have a busy job and enjoy building Lego to take my mind off it. Among many hobbies Lego has always been there, but it's also the one that people around me cannot fully comprehend as for them Lego is but a child's toy. I tried to be "grown-up" for a while by only using Technic and Mindstorms under the excuse I was developing my coding skills... but then came Vision Command which led me to stop-motion movies and for that I needed actors; and within a very short time I had the whole Harry Potter series lined up in front of the camera... Now I have stopped pretending and enjoy it fully. For my 30st, my wife (who is veeeery patient with me) clicked the-holy-grail-of-Lego-buttons on the Shop@Home site and bought the whole Indiana Jones series for me! Boy, was I happy! I'll stop there. Hope to have time for regular participation here! Cheers Thor

Thanks Asuka. Mom always complains about all the shirts she has ironed for my dad, so I made the ironing board to fill the room. AS SEEN ON TV: It even folds up and can easily be tidied in a closet!

Hi all, I wanted to share with you a comic I made for my mom. I got the idea after the second time I had to go install an external drive for all her photos. It was really only meant for our family and friends, but I thought some of you here might enjoy it too. Thor Notes: Mom is unable to delete photos and her office is not exactly tidy, and me I'm the family tech support and Mac fan

Wow, the figure really looks alive the way you have captured the movement. Impressive.
-
Dragons or not, a guild is a good idea. I wonder how many other Lego communities have the same idea.
-
I actually preferred the first legs, they gave a nice wavy motion to the figure. Nice, Thor

Don't know the Avatar, but all the previous posts gives a great inspiration. I tried some fire defense evaporating a water/ice-ish attack (which did not turn as I had wanted... if only one could build more time!). I had another version with a small penguin riding the ice attack... and it shows the Bionicle laser light I tried to use for coloring the fire (did not really change anything...). I discovered this site only this weekend, and so I think my account is a day or two late... but I gave it a shot anyway it was such a treasure to find and had me, to my wife's despair, building almost immediately! Cheers Thor
