Chance of LEGO Making a 8880 Level Super Car Again?
Junpei replied to FuzzyBallz's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I don't think it has to be RC. As long as it is complex and realistic, I think manual functions are fine. It would also lower the cost (a lot). Maybe separate instructions for integrating PF? -
42009 as a mobile missile launcher
Junpei replied to Lakop's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
*oh2* That is impressive! Someonenamedjon, I certainly hope it only carries missiles! I am excited to see the result, what color are you planning on making it? -
I really hate the 3 different types of the modified 1x2 with handles, once I made a BL order with lots of them, and they were not all correctly sorted, so I couldn't stack them... Just seems like confusion, especially searching for the right mould e.g. the middle one for between two plates.

Great MOC. Is the articulated steering very strong without LA's? -

You could use some discs (might be kinda expensive in LBG tho..) I think 10x10 will fit. Edit: Maybe a bit smaller. -
When digging through my Lego collection, I found the fiber optic elements from the Fire Vulture set, but the light piece has been used so much that the battery ran out. I just wanted to know what type of batteries and how to take them apart, they would be a great addition to my MOC's.

I think the steering not having Ackermann geometry might be a problem, I'm not sure how much of a problem tho. -
Help with my first real technic MOC: a Tatra
Junpei posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have finally decided to make a real technic MOC, I have made about 5 of them and they were all studded, disorganized and ended up not functioning and looking like crap at the same time (and they all had xl motors!), so I decided I wanted something fast but powerful but not to spend tons of money on RC motors and an RC unit, so I am building a Tatra 6x6 with an XL for every wheel. I know it depends on the overall weight of the vehicle, but I wanted to know if it would be powerful enough with the XL's ungeared driving standard truck trial (9398) wheels. My other question is what kind of shock absorber to use, but I will post pics and stuff tomorrow but I really have a ton of work to do tonight but just so you know I am using the usual swing-arm suspension with the pivot being the two pinholes in the back and the shocks are mounted on the front pinholes and I am using 6,5l shock absorbers and am not sure if there is enough travel although it looks like the camber is about right and sorry for the really really long run on sentence, i will be less busy tomorrow. -

Oh. That's called 3D steering, right? What happens if you adjust the camber all the way, get to the max turning angle, and rotate the turntable all the way? Do you get very sharp turning? -

Junpei replied to KirTech LAB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That is a huge amazing MOC! Why do the front wheels have such excessive camber angle? Would power puller wheels work? I guess 6 might not be in your budget. -
some issues with the Lego technic crawler 9398
Junpei replied to silvercoo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh wait, yeah dhc6twinotter is probably right. It's just what it's supposed to do, so it can turn without stressing the pieces. Sorry dhc6twinotter, you're still right. Sorry for all the editing confusion. -

Junpei replied to silvercoo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
How is that possible? The 20t gear drives the differential, not the bevel gears directly, so that doesn't make sense. Did you try just testing it on level ground? I'd like to see some pics of that though. -
Why is 41999 NOT worth buying
Junpei replied to peter_m's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm in the exact same boat as Meatman. I totally think 41999 is worth buying, although I wish the dark blue wasn't in a limited edition set, so now it seems there won't be many (if any) dark blue MOC's. This is kind of a worthless topic tho, just go to the 41999 discussion...- 36 replies

Nice and compact Tatra :) You should call Lego customer service and get an XL motor for free (and keep the broken one). -

What an amazing creation! Just wondering, how did M_longer get the old one-way valve cylinders to lift the huge boom? I know there are four of them, but I have heard they are very weak. -
Metal Gears
Junpei replied to The Ghost Racer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If you are ok with modifying pieces, you should take a 12 tooth DB gear and just cut it in half. That's about 3 times as strong.- 32 replies

I've broken a old style 24t gear, but anyone in the right mind knows not to use those for any kind of motorized vehicle.- 32 replies

Holy Sh*t! That is awesome and super huge! Are you part of a LUG? Or do you just spend your money on only Legos? -
Metal Gears
Junpei replied to The Ghost Racer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
^Skppo^ totally got that right. Brick Machine Shop and Inanimate Reason both sell metal parts, but they cannot have metal pins, so they have to have screws, because aluminium has much less elasticity than plastic. I would say that if you want metal gears, you should just go with full-metal RC kits. I think you should just use 12t DB to 12t DB and give up a tiny bit of torque and get a higher speed. The 12t gears are your problem, right?- 32 replies

Land Rover Series I RC model
Junpei replied to Tamas Juhasz's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nice job! I once did that with old half bushes, except it was at 90 degrees, so there were 1/4 studs involved. Overall just an awesome MOC, I think the fake engine is my favorite part.- 15 replies

James Bond's spycar from Lego
Junpei replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hey I don't know, I'm pretty sure they're Legos, just they look like the're made of some other plastic. like how 1x1 cones and translucent 4l bars are made of PC, not ABS. I'm really not sure why those arch pieces may be made of PC though. Maybe that's not the case at all tho. I can't tell, but it kind of looks like the hood and rest of the car are in sand blue. Edit: I just looked at the LDD file, it's definitely dark bluish gray.
