babyjawa replied to Clonecommando007's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Thanks. :) I didn't know about this contest until just a couple of days ago, and most of my collection is packed away.. so I had a hard time. Though it was fun to make. Best of luck to everybody when judging starts! -
Eurobricks Clone Wars Building Contest
babyjawa replied to Clonecommando007's topic in Watto's Junkyard
flickr gallery Grievous's Escape. Aboard the Invisible Hand, Obi-Wan and Anakin were caught and brought to the bridge. With the help of R2-D2 they were freed, and they faced Grievous and his deadly Magnaguards in battle. Grievous, caught inbetween the two jedi, makes an escape out into space... -
pic=link to larger picture on flickr. The Vibrosword was made by Unknown Artist. It's awesome, so I gave it to my sigfig. If you can't tell, the eyes are a blue green color. I did that because that was how RedBean made his elves so they were different from the others, because he didnt make ears. Yeah I didn't make a torso decal on this one, kinda just liked him with the Forestman torso. Thanks.

flickr brickshelf when public Inspired by Maedhros, well sorta...he wanted gore. It doesn't really compete with Sly Owl's entries, but I thought it was nice. It was the creepiest idea my mind could come up with. :P Thanks, Zach

Lets just say that Wolfpack Willy isn't a people person. X-D

I was wondering if I could use a torso decal for my minifig instead of an official one? I skimmed through all 13 pages and didn't see it asked, so I'm sorry if it was. Thanks!

Custom Figs: Del Tascus Guard
babyjawa replied to Hinckley's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Oh, two different torsos. I thought you were comparing the same one like the picture above. Sorry for skimming. ;-) But anyways, these figures are great, whether they are different than you wanted or not. I actually like the colors that came with the clear paper, than the white paper. The colors on the white look sort of faded. The actual design is great. The umm...man boobs, came out well. :-P And I like the robe design. Looks like it could fit well with Ninja. -

No problem. I'm glad you found out the problem. I never saw blue turn to a brownish color before. Sealing it before you apply is a big step. If you haven't gotten it yet, I've tried both Krylon Crystal Clear Coat (glossy kind), and Testors Glossy Cote and both work well. Thought I'd tell you if you haven't gotten it yet, as its better than experimenting with stuff that might not work. :-) -

I'm sorry I wasn't here to say anything about this before, but in the other topic where I told you about the paper, I'm pretty sure I told you about Kam's special printer. He uses an ALPS printer, which can print metallic colors and white, which is why his turn out much better than most. It also prints in several layers, so the colors show up better. I'm am almost certain I said something about it to you before... :| -
Hehe, like the clear better, eh? :D Well...I do to. Great job on both Romans, Hinckley! Reminds me that I need to finish mine. :P Great Job!

I'll have to experiment with that on this new design I'm working on. Thanks! -
Waterslide decal paper resource
babyjawa replied to Hinckley's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I can pretty much put tan on anything besides black, dark grey, dark red, and purple. Well the colors are almost always different because computer colors take in the rgb values differently. Plus, each printer prints differently. Some thicker, some thinner layers of ink. Black shows up on transparent decal paper the best, for sure. All dark colors show up the best, some light colors are good too. If only I had an ALPS printer.. Well, putting white on green is almost impossible with transparent decal paper...so that's a given. You either need to use white decal paper to get white on a torso, or if you have a special printer like Kaminoan which prints the color white. Which most printers don't print white. No problemo. -

I think you're right. I think I read to fast... :-$ I'll answer the other version.. To salvage a torso, some decals come off by using brasso like you do to remove the print from the original design. -

babyjawa replied to Hinckley's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Once you apply waterslide decals, you can't salvage them. You are gonna have to print more off and apply those. :| Sorry. Transparent paper is the kind you want to use the most, as it looks more professional. I only use white decal paper when I'm trying to get light colors like white, yellow, tan, etc. on a dark colored torso because they don't show up when using transparent decal paper. On that minifig, I used transparent decal paper because the only color I printed off was black..which shows up on everything besides black. If you have a dark colored torso like dark grey, and the only colors on your design are all dark..then it is better to use transparent paper. I hope I didn't confuse you too much. :D -
I made some customs... yay. Jedi. I made the torso decal, while the cloak and vibrosword are by Victor. Dwarf. I modified a Lego helmet, and I made a custom cape. WIP Clones. They are still in the process of being made. I need to apply Cody's torso, plus get all the helmets done. Thanks, Zach
-
Jedi, Dwarf, and some WIP clones.
babyjawa replied to babyjawa's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Nope. It's an Airborne Trooper. You can't tell now because the helmet is the main difference between it and others. I still have to finish it... And it looks like everybody seems to like the Dwarf. :) Including me.. Thanks guys! -
Are those printed on white waterslide decal paper? That would be the only reason I could think of that they looked like they were printed on well... regular paper. White waterslide decal paper is best for dark colored torsos and for getting colors you normally couldn't. (white) I think you got them right too. I can't wait to see more of your work!
-
Your designs are excellent, Hinckley! I can't wait to see what they look like with waterslide decals. :) As for getting the uh.. shape right, Redbean always did a good job with that. Unfortunately, since MCN was transferred most of his designs are gone. I'll see if I can dig up a few.

No problem. It's always good to see another person get into customizing. :) -
Umm... some people use a thick paper, while I choose to use a fabric for anything like that. MMCB makes kamas for clones.

I get my waterslide decal paper from Micromark. They have both clear and white decal paper for inkjet and laser printers. :) -
Halo, WWII, and Star Wars customs...
babyjawa replied to babyjawa's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Well the torso was originally going to be for my Jedi Sigfig, but I didn't decal a head for it. So he is Random. I'm glad I could help. :) -
Yes, I forgot to post these here for the lovely European people.... :( All of the decals are my own design. I used waterslide decals. I hope you like them. I hope to have some more up soon. Thanks, Zach

I made them in a computer program. (a free one) They are waterslide, so the quality is much better than stickers. Uh....from KKII. It has its uses. ;) -

babyjawa replied to babyjawa's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Nah, I just brasso'd off part of an actual Lego head. Yeah, I've been notified of that many times already. ;) I'm going to get some, just don't have any at the moment. If you mean that they look Lego like because the detail level isn't way to high, then yes! :D But if not....then I have no idea. Thanks for the comments guys!
