I was actually hoping Konstatine would survive so we could have seen Thrawn do just that. Thrawn personally tossing Konstatine out an airlock, or shooting a blaster bolt into his face... Then when the second Interdictor was destroyed the commander of that ship would have acknowledged his failure and explained what he was trying to do to avoid the same mistake Konstatine did; then be surprised when Thrawn promotes him as reward for his creative thinking... Okay that might be a bit to on the nose, but it could have been an homage to one of Legends Thrawn's classic scenes.

I don't agree with that, because Thrawn didn't lose the battle. I think poor editing and allowing the main cast to escape gives that impression he lost. But he managed to scatter the heroes, destroy all of Dodana's ships, lead to the death of Commander Sato, destroy half of Phoenix Squad's ships, and would have captured Hera and friends if it wasn't for Bendu going all Deus Es Machina. In a way it mirrors the end of the Battle of Hoth. Nobody complains that Vader was a poor commander due to the failings of Commander Ozzel, or that Vader is a "looser" because he failed to capture Luke and crew at Hoth and instead had to chase them across the galaxy before he finally got a hold of them... Thrawn dealt his fatal blow to Phoenix Squad, hence the reason the survivors are fleeing to join the Yavin rebel group. Not to mention as others have mentioned, it was Tarkin's orders that really limited Thrawn's ability to kill the Rebels. So Tarkin is the real idiot commander here... But I think the battle scenes were poorly edited in the last Rebels episode, making it look like a Rebel victory despite on paper being a resounding defeat and an Imperial victory. They really needed to animate a good debris field of Rebel ships floating around while the Ghost escaped, or make it more of a tense escape rather than the somewhat calm "let's fly through a battle and pick up Kallus on the way" the final shot gave us.

What videogame-based BrickHeadz would you like to see?
xboxtravis7992 replied to kungfulegolover's topic in LEGO Licensed
I would want to see Master Chief... But sadly the other building brick company has that license So how about Steve? Lego already has the Minecraft license so it's not a stretch. -
I expect Lego might cycle between display UCS sets (Falcon, Snowspeeder, X-Wing, B-Wing, etc.) and UCS playsets (Ewok Village, Death Star, Assault on Hoth, etc.) every other year. So I will guess 2018 will be two playset style builds, or at the least Lego will be trying to keep one or two UCS playsets on the market at a time. For playsets I think Yavin IV, Corosaunt, Starkiller Base, Darth Vader's castle, and Scarrif could all work. For display models a UCS A-Wing would be a nice display ship for a low cost, although I would like to see a UCS Y-Wing or an Eta Actis 2 Jedi Starfighter, maybe a U-wing or something like that...

Disney is selling their own Die Cast Star Wars figures separate from Hasbro at Disney Stores, so Hasbro might not have the dominance it once had in the Star Wars toy market. Anyways onto Lego, I really want to see a Rebels style Interidctor cruiser ship as a set! Classic Legends design in the new canon!

Yep Oky, the first and last one are great! The first one especially is all to true with those old sets! :D -
I haven't seen the new trailer yet, but @Quicksilver838 I agree Wonder Woman and Justice League will be make or break it moments for DC and Warner Brothers. If they both fail, the franchise might as well be dead until the next reboot.

I am just glad Thrawn survived for next season, he didn't "lose" the battle by his bad tactics (Constantine and Pryce did that themselves), and he really managed to wreck almost all of Phoenix Squad. All and all, we get one more season with Thrawn and that is the best news of all! I like the hints we are going to Yavin IV, a tie into Rogue One coming in soon! Also, time to get speculating for next season!

Wow, this looks like a very promising start!

You know when you mentioned, "Old, outdated, and offensive stereotypes;" another Disney movie came to mind... You know, the one with the $75 million dollar ride in Critter Country that most people don't even know is based on a Disney movie... I bet Disney would never touch that film again though for a remake with a 20 foot long pole! Also speaking of remakes, if Disney ever does Who Framed Roger Rabbit again but with CGI cartoon figures that will break my Disney fan spirit completely!

Well keep the LNER coach then, and just use it for when you build a British steamer! Now that I see what source material you were going for, it seems you got the look down pretty well.- 18 replies

Yes... That was one of the main issues of the film. Emma handled the acting well I thought. But the singing? Oh gosh the auto tune was painfully obvious. They should have not put so much effort into modifying her voice. I would rather have listened to a natural but sub par voice, than an unnatural computerized voice. As for the film, I agree with Oky that the feeling it left me was mixed. It was a well done movie, but... it just lacked the charm of the original. I liked some of the small character retcons that were made, but in the end they felt like supplemental information that could have been better suited for a theme park ride or a companion book (for example, the plot involving what happened to Belle's mother, or setting the film firmly in the early 1800's). The CGI definitely made it hard to connect to the side cast, with so many talented actors and performers (Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellin, Emma Thompson, Audra McDonald) it seemed their talent was wasted in the unexpressive lifeless stare of their character's CGI models (should it also be noted Ewan, Emma Thompson, and Audra all sang better than almost anybody else in the cast?) Oddly enough, like rodiziorobs, my favorite parts of the story were with Gaston, LeFou, and Maurice! Gaston was more intimidating than his cartoon version, attempting to murder Maurice, firing shots at the Beast, and playing up the villain role rather well. The LeFou "controversy" was over-hyped in my opinion, and the changed character motivation gives a lot of explanation as to why he hangs around with Gaston so much. In fact with how the media played up the LeFou thing in the weeks before the film, I was surprised it was so subtle in the actual film. Maurice, was more subdued; and more understandable than his animated counterpart I thought. I just wish he had built some more out there inventions like his cartoon version did... since that music box looked a bit tame to his "Steam Machine of Death" from the original. But yeah... the Belle and Beast stuff felt old, tired, been there done that type of thing. I have seen the original film dozens of times, seen the live stage show, seen the characters in theme parks; etc. Belle and Beast has been done to death. Even the best acting moments from Watson and the guy who did Beast, weren't enough to overcome the staleness of most of their interactions (although I got to admit Beast's quip about "some of the books are in Greek" was actually memorable... Kind of the new moments I was hoping from them instead of more of the same...) And yeah, here is my big problem with all of this. At the end of the film I to am asking, "Why?" What did the remake achieve other than make quick cash? How could this in anyway be better than the animated original? How?? Its not that I mind that Disney is remaking some of their animated films into live action, what I mind is that their pipeline seems to be full of dozens of more films like this in only a few more years. Do we really need a live action version of the Lion King? Aladdin? Mulan? Hercules? The Little Mermaid? Snow White? Pinocchio? With the amount of CGI being thrown into the films, are they even live action at all? (Jungle Book being the most extreme example of that...) How much longer must this go on?

[MOC] Santa Fe 4-4-2 "Atlantic" Locomotive
xboxtravis7992 replied to darkhorse00's topic in LEGO Train Tech
The locomotive has some great details with the light up firebox. The boiler jacketing looks a bit bland, maybe there is a way to add some piping to it? I am not a fan of the coach exterior, it looks not so much like a period American coach but something more European like what the EN had. (While I don't take Bachmann as a highly accurate model maker, this HO set of theirs shows what I mean with the exterior: http://shop.bachmanntrains.com/images/13703.jpg) But on the other hand that coach interior, whoa! The interior job on that coach nailed it, and is some of the best coach detailing I have seen on the interior of a Lego model.- 18 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors

I thought this was a Set Pictures, Discussion, and Rumors thread? Seems discussing a revealed set is appropriate for the thread. Far more than fabricating false rumors like many tend to do in this chat. -

Yes I just saw it. Looks good! Pity I don't have money to burn on it right now though. Who are the pilots included? That black helmet looks really cool. -
A long gestating project finally come to an end recently; finally!!! Unbeatable Squirrel Girl in Lego at last! PARD!!! Beating up the Marvel Universe! Worthy to wield Thor's Hammer! (yes this is actual Marvel Comics canon... Doreen can indeed wield the Hammer!)

I read Brickset's speculation article earlier today. The vibes Lego Dimensions is giving right now remind me of the rumors surrounding Bionicle last year... Disney Infinity and Skylanders getting canned were clear signs the Toys to Life game fad is over. The market is dead, and Lego arrived to late to profit. While Lego toys are a superior product to the static figures other lines used, increasing the appeal for toy collectors; the fact is few people want to pay the money for the game. I have thought multiple times about buying the starter set, but it is to cost prohibitive to get into. I have bought one Fun Pack for the figures, but that is it. To collect the whole game would take away the budget I have for other Lego purchases too! I'd rather spend $100 on some nice Star Wars set or a Creator Expert set then spread it across dozens of fun packs for Dimensions. To put it briefly, these rumors don't surprise me at all.

Where does the Copper Akaku come from?
xboxtravis7992 replied to LEGOshibainu's topic in LEGO Action Figures
The Akaku komau was a European release if I remember right. The copper Huna was released in the US and Europe as a promotional item. My grandparents got me a pair of the Copper Huna. They are a cool collectible, and look great with the Golden and Silver masks that came out in 2002. -
Wowzer. I always liked the look of the E-Wing, reminds me a lot of the real world F-4 Phantom. I am also really hoping it somehow finds its way back into the official Star Wars canon, because it is such a beautiful ship. Your model catches all the details I love about it!

Good point. I guess Krennic killing off every engineer at Easy was a really bad move. Thrawn, for all his power and manipulation seems to be dare I say, humble not seeking power but obtaining it just because he deserved it.
-
You know, if Tarkin killed Thrawn I would be %!00 okay with that. If Kallus killed Thrawn, I think it would be a cheap move; especially since Thrawn knows Kallus is a threat. But Tarkin is perfect to do it. We already saw him use the entire Death Star to kill Krennic... Tarkin is just one of those jealous men who is willing to cut out any competitors for his goals. Thrawn especially poses a threat to Tarkin, since I imagine with his intellect; Thrawn easily could have been promoted to take control of the Death Star instead of Tarkin or Krennic. Imagine how Episode IV would have panned out had Thrawn been in charge instead of Tarkin? I imagine he would have taken time to analyze for weaknesses on the station, and sent a repair crew to weld a metal grate or two over the exhaust port before the Battle of Yavin...

I like the long hood. The cab though really needs a windscreen which looks like a "triclops" since that is such a distinct prototype feature.
