Yeah I think the battery box only comes in grey and red. But I like the idea of having the batteries on the main locomotive: since more weight over the drivers should increase traction.

Amtrak GE B32-8WH /w Passenger Consist - WIP!
xboxtravis7992 replied to legoman666's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I think the locomotive would look better perhaps if it was a block or two shorter: but I am not to sure. But that cab! Wow! The dang GE cab with the "slope thingy" is hard to capture in Lego: but your's is one of the best cab fronts I have seen. I might steal the idea someday ;) -
A lot of recent Lego trains, although built on a 6 stud frame, have enough overhangs they look more like 7 stud or even 8 stud. Both the Night and the Maersk did this to an extent.

Your favourite Bionicle launcher
xboxtravis7992 replied to Aethersprite's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I only own the Kanoki, Rohtuka, Zamor and Squid Launchers since I stopped buying Bionicle up until 2015 (although I was tempted to buy the regular sized Mata Nui in 2009). Of the four Zamor is my favorite, and Kanoki is a second due to their range and accuracy. As a kid Rohtuka was fun but I hated the accuracy issues. Squid lancher was hands down the worst of the four, since I always feared I would snap the Squid into two... The new stud Launchers aren't that bad either. -
I am still hoping that a new exclusive train will come out. Sad to hear that the Horizon died out on such low prices, had I not been living in Argentina at the time I might have bought one or two (I already own one copy of the Horizon). As for personal wishes if or when the exclusive trains return: I want something beefy. I'd be okay if Lego didn't even include freight or passenger cars if we get an awesome locomotive. It is possible to pull of a 8 or even 10 driver engine in Lego using the flangeless wheels that we saw with the Night!

I couldn't take it anymore... Santa Fe Super Chief MOD/MOC
xboxtravis7992 replied to firstofminifigs's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I once thought I had found the Super Chief for a few dollars online: turnout it was the instructions! Your model looks better than chasing down the official set. I don't like how the nose was on the original but your's is a big improvement. -
WOW!! That is all I can say.

Very nice!

UP: ahhhhhhhhh. I want to drool. This is my local road and I always associate trains with all that yellow.

Wow! Just wow.

Some more ideas: Theed Palace: All the figs already exist for this one, they just need to be brought together. Star Speeder 1000 or 3000: This one's from the Disney ride (which started the relationship with Lucasfilm, which lead to Disney buying our Star Wars in 2012). Needs several droids, and a few "tourist" figs. Cloud City redesign. Dagobah redesign. Yavin-4 rebel base. We have had a lot of Echo-Base sets but Yavin-4 needs some love. Kamino clone chambers: A few clones, their equipment, a few Kaminions, ect. Just a few ideas.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
xboxtravis7992 replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That PAB cup method does look very cheap! I think a lot of basic bricks would be needed as a center core to build the modular towers around, since modulars don't hold together well at those heights. -
Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
xboxtravis7992 replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Noting that Lego lacks a lot of Star Wars locations, my mind started day dreaming. I quickly was drawn to Corusant, for several reasons; urban landscape, and a seeming under representation in MOC's. I imagined a large spaceport big enough to "land" minifig size sets such as Rebel's ghost, the different iterations of the Millennium Falcon, or a MOC of the Star Tours Starcspeeder. The port would include customs and passenger areas; and a small imperial police station. I also imagined a large S.H.I.P modular tower, with shops, offices, and apartments. Underneath all this would be a vibrant undercity with a swoop garage, star wars sports bar, and bazaars and beggers all around. Everything has to be durable and highly detailed, unlike Will Ferrell, I want something a kid could play with. My problem is I realize all of this is overly ambitious for a young college student, and that I will probably have no chance to even start building until years down the road. What would be the best way to do this project? Any tips on massive models on a small budget? Am I in over my head, or is this doable? -
Although not the most detailed, it has the look of an Official set, chunky walls and smooth SNOT interior details. I like it.

[LDD] UCS Star Wars/Star Tours Starspeeder 3000
xboxtravis7992 replied to Risch33's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The underside and the front are spectacular. The back needs less plates, and the elevation changes on the roof would be better with angles, and not curves. I really like how this ship is coming along, the Starspeeder is one of my favorite spaceships: as it is kind of the only one I have "flown" in. -
Has your pet(s) ever caused damage to your collection?
xboxtravis7992 replied to legosamsonite's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yeah, both my dogs when they were puppies chewed bricks. But once they reached 3 years old they "mostly" grew out of it. The real trick is learning not to display stuff on the floor, or in a place they can access. (Not to hard for me seeing my dogs are Shi-Tzu's...) -
I don't know what's better: this MOC; or watching this process of constructive criticism over these posts. Well you might have convinced to go and buy the overpriced Lego set when it comes out...

More Realistic Couplers and other improvements for Future LEGO Trains
xboxtravis7992 replied to Brickthus's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I have used Kadee like couplers with HO trains, and have witnessed many a time HO trains getting to be very LONG. Seeing that an O gauge coupler can connect to Lego, might be the best non-purist move ever. -
So I have been through quite an adventure these last two years. In 2013 I accepted a call from The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Saints (Mormons) to serve a two year mission in Argentina. I recently got back yesterday, and what an experience it was! The downside of being two years in Argentina though should be obvious... the Legos stayed home. For obvious reasons, all my lego sets could not come down south with me. Although I focused my attention on my duty at hand, I noticed every time I saw Lego, or any fake brick brand. My sole lego possessions where 7 minifigures that my parents sent me. Thanks to customs laws, the bricks where rare and expensive. Even then, some of the marvels I saw in Salta and Tucuman Argentina, gave me some future MOC ideas. I also was humbled to see the kids in the poor areas, who their only Lego possession was a pirated backpack... I am grateful for my Parents who bought me Lego all my life, and the solid income they provided. I am amazed that my parents bought me The Chinese Cinema, and the City Cargo train just so I didn't miss out on them while away from home. I am grateful for my grandparents who paid me soooooo, much money to mow their lawns. And today for my first day in the U.S.A, they took me to the Lego Store in Utah. WOW! First time there, and a lot of surprises: my childhood obsession Bionicle came back from the dead with Tahu on steroids! New Pirates, Ferraris, LEGO Movie sets, Star Wars, Superheros, Minecraft, Simpsons, and a few Modular Buildings. I limited my budget to a $100 dollar spending cap, plus $30 dollars of freebies thanks to VIP. Although I love my hobby, I truly understand that our possesions are not happiness, but can form a part of a balanced happy life where one follows their belives and serves others. So maybe I will just have to share the Lego fun with my cousins... That is my story guys. See you soon online Tambien, yo hablo espanol ahora. Sientente libre a escribirme. Chau.

Two Years without Lego: and What I learned
xboxtravis7992 replied to xboxtravis7992's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yeah, Argentina uses pesos; plus customs are tight. I once found some $20 USD valued sets being sold for the equvilant of $110 USD. Plus the first three places I lived in where poorer areas (Tucuman (twice) and a small town called Pichanal). Only the last place I was at, Salta had more comfortable living standards. Still alot of great people and I miss a few of them. -
Future Train sets discussion/speculation
xboxtravis7992 replied to peterab's topic in LEGO Train Tech
If we are wishing for a Daylight why not also look at the other ORHF engines? SPS 700 is a pretty slick 4-8-4, and while ORN 197 is a 4-6-2, it looks distinct enough it wouldn't be to similar to the EN. And why not some Union Pacific love? A yellow diesel would look great in Lego; although an early SD or late GP model would look to similar to the Maersk/BNSF engines. Just a few more trains to add to the wish list... -
Getting the location of the theme 'Right'
xboxtravis7992 replied to stu808's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Well if you wanted to go for an American look I will shamelessly self promote this Bricklist I made a while back, http://www.brickset.com/brickLists/?8482 . If you want to go European choose basically the train sets not on that list! Also remember some sets can double for multiple locations, for example The Emerald Night is based of the British Flying Scotsman train, however the headlight arrangement and snowplow/cowcatcher make the train resemble when the Flying Scotsman visited the U.S. in the 1970's. Not to mention the Flying Scotsman has also visited Austraila in its long career. That means the Emerald Night can be used in no less than THREE countries! -
I like the look of the building facades, they do have an old town Americana feel. One idea though, find some way to add a back to the buildings. Maybe a removable Lego wall, or a piece of cardstock could be used; adding to the looks, while easily removed for play.

Well talking about random characters there is Jedi Bob from the first LAAT set! Or what about Jek's Starfighter, where every character is a non-canon TLC creation? Jango appearing with a Tank Droid is not the most random thing TLC has done.

Wow that is really cool. Heck just being in DCA during the premiere would have been cool enough, but you even got the main stars to sign a Lego box! Even better, this is such a unique item I hope it would remain valuable even if the movie is forgotten. However, you might have to buy a second model just to have one to play with! Also noticed you bought it at the Downtown Disney store. That is one of my favorite Lego stores, nothing a like a day in Disneyland than a walk into the Lego store!
