What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars minifigures?
miles teg replied to Darthking623's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Of the figs I own ? In no real order Boba Fett from 9496, my first boba fett, and what a helmet sculpt ! Admiral Ackbar from 75003, just love me some Ackbar. Lando in skiff disguise from 9496. pure, stone cold cool.! Han Solo from 75003. Classic Han. Hoth Han would rank higher, but I don't own him *sniff* Leia from 75094. Love the Endor poncho look. Obi Wan from 8092. Love his tattooine look. B wing pilot from 75050. That helmet sculpt ! Great printing. Luke from 75014. Great print, classic outfit. Pre 2015 snowtroopers, because i love classic OT snowtroopers, and I have a tonne of them Imperial Guard from the battlepack. Another classic character design -
What non-UCS set do you think best depicts the original?
miles teg replied to kungapa's topic in LEGO Star Wars
75038 did a good job. 75003 did an excellent job 8097 I think did a fantastic job at system scale -
You're not alone, although I would LOVE a UCS Star Destroyer, Falcon or Slave. I have a young family and can not justify spending that amount on Lego SW. System scale sets are more within my budget and I enjoy modding them to look more detailed anyway. I just need space to display them now!

That is awesome ! I love the windows and the gantry area. Is there any way you could get a door in the elevator shaft ? And maybe angle the walls around the throne so it doesn't seem quite so 'boxed in' ? Apart from those minor improvements, this looks great.

Mines the same : ) got an hour spare ?...break out the falcon !

My favourite sets that I have built that I own would be...... Ooh hard choices, bear in mind I don't own very many and I try only to buy OT sets 1: 7965 millennium falcon. Because I love this ship, and I've spent a lot of time modding it! 2 : 8092 Slave 1. Again one of my favourite ship designs, and the size of this model still impresses me 3 : 9493 x wing. My first Lego star wars ship, and the one that bought me out of my dark age ! Forever a classic. Also, honorable mention must go to 75003 a wing in the sub £30 category. I love this little bugger. A few little mods and it's a beauty

[MOC] Star Wars Battlefront - Battle on Sullust
miles teg replied to markus1984's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Lego should have studied (studded, geddit?!) this beauty before releasing their ultimate battlepack collection Hoth 'assault' rip off ! Something like this would have made a great display piece- 48 replies

There was an AT AT deployed on Endor in ROTJ, and AT ATs can be deployed to any planet in Empire at War -
More fool you

Terrible. Terrible build, terrible price, completely underwhelming. Poor fig selection. Horrendous price ( did I say that already?) UCS ? Pfft. The hangar door, shield generators and ion cannon need to be about 3 times the size. Why another crappy speeder bike ? Where's Leia ? Only 2 snowtroopers ?! Some 'assault'. Totally underwhelming. This would be acceptable maybe at £100 price range, but to ask £220 is embarrassing for Lego. The only minor feature that I like about this rip off, is the grey/white mix of bricks around the hangar door. Everything else is completely forgettable. How the heck are you supposed to display this collection of battlepacks ? There's no interior OR exterior worth looking at ! Bricklink the figs and build a far superior hangar door yourselves. Bingo
-
What? £200 for THAT ??!? That is rubbish. No offence, but that is embarrassing that they are asking that amount for that. The old Echo Base looked more impressive than this. And most of the figs are generic snow troopers. I REALY don't see how they can call this ucs

Mine was ok when built. The only piece that was very slightly....and I mean realy barely noticeable...different shade was one of the technic arms in the dorsal wing. There was a topic a few months ago about this subject iirc -

Hi, I use a good quality 'flat' paint brush. The bristles havnt scratched the plastic and they are stiff enough to remove dust. Granted my sets aren't out long enough to gather too much dust anyway. The one set I've purchased second hand that arrived with a thick layer of dust was 75050. I had to wash each piece individualy with water and a little soap and a soft cloth to clean it, but now it's like new -
I second that. Breakdown pics please ! And how did you hide the elastic bands ?
-
Don't know where you are but in this area, Argos and Toymaster both have the New Falcon
-
Ah ok I'll take a look, I'm talking about the flat dark grey plates with the angle edges, mine are connected with bracket pieces that I built into the rear of the ship, but because of that, I can't get them to sit flush with the rear. You seem to have managed to do that well. I couldn't think of any other way that would allow the technical axle to protrude
-
I like the look of this, can you tell us, or post pics of how you connected the dbg angled plates to the rear of the fuselage ? Where the turny thing is that activates the wings. It looks very similar to how I modded my 9493, but it looks like they are sitting more flush with the rear than I could get mine. I used 2x2 bracket pieces (not sure of part no.) and it causes the dbg angled plates to sit a mm or so off the main body.
-
That. Is. Awesome ! Loving the shape of this one, that engine looks like a beast. The ship almost seems like it's built for atmospheric patrols/combat. And the red (?) stripe panels give it a 'elite' look Ha, just read the 'backstory' and that blows my theory put the window : )

Ok, this might be the wrong thread but I have to ask. Which site is the best for hosting images that I can then link here on eurobricks ... Imgur ? Flickr ? Any others ? I'd like to sets/mods etc but I'm not sure which site to use. All my images need to be shared from my phone/tablet too, as my pc is out of action and laptop is kept free for work use. Anybody point me in the right direction ? -
I know ! It took me a few days of trawling through eBay in the hope of finding a good deal, in the end I found one on Amazon UK that was listed as 'used but like new', 1 in stock. so I went for it. It hasn't arrived yet but fingers crossed it'll be good. The seller had good feedback so I'm hoping it's ok. Can't realy argue for that price.
-
I have pics of all my mods, but they are all on my 'phone and I have not got round to making a Flickr account yet ! None of my mods are ground - breaking as I have a limited supply of spares and experience, but I do try to make the models look more true to the movie models.
-
I've just ordered 75050 and may attempt to mod it when it's built. ( depending on parts- my spares are very limited after modding the Falcon, Tie, A Wing, Slave 1, 2x AT ST's, 75038 and Shuttle Tyderium) ! Looking forward to building this as the b wing has always been a favourite it ship
-
My wife bought me Anakins interceptor 75038 recently ( I'm usualy OT - only, but I like the shape of this little set a lot) which I've modded with tiles, New engines and a rear to the cockpit 'bubble'. And I'm having a small op next week so I've just ordered 75050 B Wing ( one of my favourite ships) off Amazon for £ 35. I intend to bunker down and enjoy building it while I lick my wounds.
-
A forced perspective shot with the Falcon or Slave 1 would look good
-
Nice review ! I think I'm going to pick this set up now. I already have a Bobba Fett from the desert skiff set a couple of years ago, but I need that Han and the carbonite to go with my Slave 1.
