    Server Maintenance Downtime

Hopefully there has not been a message that it was delayed! Looks like we rode through fine otherwise. My job was affected by the Rackspace downtime on Tuesday, so an amusing coincidence for me
  2. Hi users! Admin have received a message from the server hosts. As you can see, Eurobricks may be offline for a few hours on 31 May but don't panic! They also mention nothing should change from the maintenance so the forum will be just the same as ever once the server is back online. This has been an advanced warning.
  3. Discussion of the 2023 sets can continue here. If anyone has posts they would like moved over, please bring them to my attention.

    Server Maintenance Downtime

@Jim The server is in Central European Time right?
  5. Hello fellow Action and Adventure theme fans! I want to hear from you which of our many and varied themes housed here, are the Greatest Of All Time! It is high time to refresh some graphics and while I will be unveiling a cool new look Logo soon, I greatly want to make a banner for this forum. To spare everyone a toybox jumble of themes, I thought I would ask you all which theme you think is the best and I can create something fitting to match. So, what say you?

    Help with identifying parts/sets!

They do look a lot like Tente ones. This eBay listing photo has a good look at those wheels/cones https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0933PR28M?tag=picclick02-21&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1 This amazon listing has a good side view. If you compare them to these pictures it might prove true.
  8. Adventurers. The theme that brought us the man, myth, minifig Johnny Thunder and his fellow explorers and treasure seekers; friend and foe alike, has reached is 25th year. A Silver Jubilee. To celebrate this cornerstone theme of Action and Adventure a major contest has arrived. There are three exciting categories to this contest and you can enter all three right up until the closing date on the 18th of August at midnight GMT, members who have joined even minutes ahead of the deadline are welcome to enter. Category A - Great Adventure: Build an adventure on a maximum 48x48 footprint. This can be an epic rebuild of an old set, a new location in a past adventure or a whole new challenge for Johnny Thunder and friends. Treasures, rivals, monsters and ruins; even after 25 years, the Adventurers are ready! While original figures or the obvious callback minifigs from more recent themes are not necessary, the figures at least have to be recognisable as Johnny Thunder and co. The prize up for Grabs is 150 Euro to spend on LEGO sets on the LEGO online shop. Category B - From the office of...: On a maximum footprint of 32x32 create the home work environment of the classic Johnny Thunder characters. From Doctor Charles Lightning's study to the Library at Sinister Mansion, everyone has a space to prepare for future adventure. As with the main category, the figures have to be recognisable as the Adventurer characters as best as possible. The prize up for Grabs is 100 Euro to spend on LEGO sets on the LEGO online shop. Category C - Ride to Adventure: Some form of vehicle for an adventurer. From All terrain truck to Dog Sled, an adventurer has to get to their goal. This one allows for Digital Entries and figures that don't have to be Adventurer theme characters. The prize up for Grabs is 50 Euro to spend on LEGO sets on the LEGO online shop Rules - No clone brands but custom figure parts/prints are acceptable. Digital entries are only accepted for the Ride to Adventure category. This must be a new MOC or otherwise significantly different to previously posted builds- For example, a nice statue build already shared can form an element of the new MOC, likewise a desk/bookshelf design. As long as it is not the main or largest part of the contest entry, recycling is allowed within reason. If a vehicle is present as part of the larger categories, it cannot be entered into the Ride to Adventure category. The Great Adventure and From the Office of builds do not have to be assembled onto a baseplate, but must demonstrably be within the stipulated footprint. A scale shot has to be included extra to the entry photos that shows the footprint (ruler, plates, outline. Anything that can be used to prove the MOC sits within the required footprint for the category). Reasonable overhang is limited to incidental points no more than 4 studs over the boundary. A tree branch, flagpole or other small features. Hight limit can be defined if it must, but for now it simply has to be a stable build that does not topple. Entries are to be posted in their own thread with up to three photos to showcase the MOC, not inclusive of the scale photo if required. Further photos can be shared in the MOC thread, indicated to be extra to the chosen entry pictures. A link for the thread must then be shared in the respective Category threads in order to be considered for the contest. Entries posted until 0:00 on 18/08/2023 will be eligible to enter. Any further questions can be asked in this thread and if pertinent will be added below this line. Category A Entry Thread Category B Entry Thread Category C Entry Thread
  9. Sure you can. Of course presenting the whole set as an entry won't count .

    [MOC] Chinese Door Gods

These are excellent creations. The colourful shades and clever construction are great. Indeed a MOC one could call Art. Thanks for sharing these with the forum.

The "what set did you just build" thread

60287 - Tractor. My second purchase of the set (I am very easy to sell to if a set that costs more than £10 is reduced to less than £10...) as the wheels are nice for my collection, as are the windscreens. Also, Bunny! Affordable LEGO animals, extra cherry on top for me. The crate is a nice colour which adds a realistic variety to my collection of old brown and reddishbrown that makes good set dressing in a MOC (No lie, I have loved those crates since my first one in the Scorpion Tracker and as I have unfortunately reminded everyone, that was 25 years ago). The build is simple, as expected of a City set aimed at the slightly younger audience, however it is nice and solid like a tractor should be.

    posting pictures

Yep, what the fine member said, EB can't afford to host all the many many MOC pictures so they have to be uploaded elsewhere and deeplinked here. The upload space that is available to members is for avatar images mostly.

    Unpopular Opinions about LEGO

Yeah, it is. But Playmobil has managed to make three interesting blind bag figures, LEGO put one ghost guy in a theme that didn't really fly. I know I can mix and match figures to make Steampunk figures for myself but they could maybe give us a few more breadcrumbs.

    Unpopular Opinions about LEGO

Unpopular opinion (probably not). The Playmobil collectable figures series has currently got a Third Steampunk figure to collect. Yup, a third. Two previous series have also had steampunk figures. LEGO? LEGO has had zero. Zilch. None. I want a steampunk CMF. I am not asking for a full theme, a special set, a GWP. Nope, just one little CMF would be nice.
  19. It is not required for category C, but is welcome. However it would boost a category A build to a great adventure.

    Help with identifying parts/sets!

Part 44709 on Bricklink I will put this thread into the catch all topic.
  21. Coming soon! A contest to celebrate 25 years of Adventurers is on its way. Get out the maps, prepare the gear and stock up on supplies, the expedition starts in ten days. While I won't give away the whole contest rules and requirements I can answer a few queries for folks. On a side note, do you like the Action and Adventure themed Eurobricks logo?

  23. Prepare for adventure! To celebrate 25 years of Johnny Thunder's adventures, a contest will start on 20th of May. Get the expedition supplies ready and keep your eyes on Action and Adventure Themes
  24. Excuse my enthusiasm but I have decided that what I really want to do is talk about my absolute favourite LEGO Elements. I also want to see what parts you like and why. There are thousands upon thousands of parts out there, from big to tiny. There are no right or wrong reasons to like elements, nor do they have to be "worthy" reasons to enjoy them. I just want to spread some positive vibes. Now to bore you all with my favourites The pointed wedge. Especially in this metallic colour. They look great, they have sharp lines that look excellent in contrast to the flatter planes of the older wedge/slopes, or the curves of the alternate types. I stick them on spaceships, I put them on aircraft and I work them in to racing cars. Very basic plant/leaf. I have this and the larger version in many colours and will spend hours creating foliage. Trees, climbing plants or just some very overgrown spaces are some of my favourite things to just build; never with any goal in mind more often than not. I have not shared many of those creations as they are never a complete MOC. However, I always chase the ideal of a natural looking plant, or an alien but still recognisable arboreal build. Tail, Rounded Top - The airplane tail from my childhood. I had Baron Von Baron's Bi-Wing plane and have loved planes since I was a small child, so MOCs of planes have long featured in my creative history. This tail, either plain or the printed versions, was used in many a creation that spent an afternoon swooshing around my bedroom and the house. Favourite printed map, hands down. Maybe I will add more later. but these are the top picks. Anyone want to join in?

What are your most anticipated upcoming sets?

Yes. Modern Wales has a lot of castle. Mildly vexed that you are laying claim to some Welsh castles there True, historically England has stamped all over Wales (hence the castles...) and a lot of what was Wales was scooped up by rich English landowners and proclaimed "England" for their benefit... (Historic Monmouthshire was still England when one of my colleagues was born!) but both borders and administrative areas of Wales have the most castles now things have been slightly put right. North Wales has my favourites, even if they were all there in an attempt to squash Wales with a "ring of iron" in the heartlands of resistance. Conwy is fantastic, Harlech is a great example of defensive landscape and no joke, I could stay all day in Caernarfon Castle and still need dragging out at closing time. Ahem, so, on topic (Cymru am byth!!) I am looking forward to those Dreamzzz sets for sure, the skull ship and pegasus/unicorn/alicorn are super cool and the croc-car is the sort of creative randomness I lilve for. The rumoured Zelda sets have me saving VIP points up as while I am awful at video games more complex than button mashers like Smash Bro's (or Pokemon) I do love the lore and world of LoZ, big manga collection! A new Goat and castle village set of course, are on my list to purchase, to go with the MMV and my castle MOCs. The baby dragon in the next wave of Ninjago has certainly put at least one set from the line on my list. The Creator Land Rover is too nice not to get. Monkiekid White Dragon is superb and just adding more of the theme to my list. I think I better be saving some cash!
