If you look up a head print on Bricklink, you can see all figures it appears on. https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=3626cpb2914&in=M Tadaa. He's a Viking too. I recall as a child that my sister and I liked to call the sunglasses head Bob. Of course, there was a percentage of our collection that was called Bob (Or Bobette, if we used a long hair piece). Ah, the games of youth. A fun if odd pass time.

Adventure Supplies: Parts from other themes for Adventurers!
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I don't see it. I liked the one from City a few years ago, she even had the right outfit. By adding the pith helmet with braided hair from the CMF series, that was perfect as a Pippin Reed.- 194 replies

I think you were reading comments directed to someone else, the one who decided crass language was appropriate. I had asked for this discussion to be concluded, as it was well off the rails on the actual set. Coming onto the forum for 12 reports related to a thread that had gotten out of hand enough to require locking does require a harder response. As such, time to move on. If I was not clear enough earlier: The Printing of the minifig face is now fully discussed and has gone well beyond the actual set discussion. Please refrain from bringing it up and raking it over again. If people must raise it, those posts will be hidden and removed from the thread entirely. Suggestions to help those who will need to change the head are welcome within reason.

Don't worry, you can add misreading a comment to the card instead. Don't push the argument again.

Hoakay You know what staff don't like on the forum? A big, sprawling flame war in a thread for a a nice LEGO set. @F1stzz you have been told before about egging on arguments. That's a note to remember. People who fan the flames for fun are not good members of the commuinty.@Sir Blew It is not historical. It is not supposed to relate accurately to history. It is LEGO, not a museum scale model for education. You might be upset to hear Wizards didn't live in castles and certainly didn't look like Merlin from the Disney Sword in the Stone animation, if a woman being a Knight is harder to accept than that it's not a great look. LEGO is not an accurate representation of any kind of history. It is a toy for boys and girls to enjoy. It might not be what @Captain_SoyBeard wants to hear either, but 23 years ago LEGO had a Princes in Armour. That was in the year 2000 you know. Well before anyone was sobbing online about "woke" and "virtue signalling". It might also be upsetting to hear that 30 years ago I, a girl (gasp!) was using permeant marker to draw longer hair onto a generic head so I could play at being a Knight with my LEGO (I also didn't have any castle sets, so using my imagination, I substituted Aquazone Diving gear and flagpoles for armour and swords. The "horse" was brickbuilt) LEGO are listening to markets and just sticking in some parts for fair and equal play. If you think it is a negative agenda to include people, all people, then maybe find some other like-minds elsewhere. The best bit though, is anyone demanding a full on sausage party can easily swap the head for the manliest man-man head they can find. Here's one glorious example new this year. Or this guy, if you want to be less anachronistic, LEGO minifig heads are interchangeable! All this hate for AFFOLs, because that is how it reads to me the staff who is a woman, needs to stop. It is not welcoming or pleasant to read in a community that has always wanted and tried to be friendly. You both might find yourselves having a private chat with Staff which may not result in a return to the public forum. @Alexandrina It is frustrating to read I know, but next time please report it, some people do not want to be reasoned with, they simply want to argue or get their knickers in a twist. Everyone Else, I have not mentioned you by name, but you have been warned. Has my tone been completely irreverent? Yes. I am not going to service this with any sort of respectful approach. It is frankly ridiculous. I am unlocking the thread, I am sure you are all brimming with vitriol after reading this post. I am volunteering my time to help run a (normally) fun and creative community online, you are arguing about printing on a plastic cylinder. Recall though, who can edit member access.

Nothing to see her folks! Can't have it deeplinked in/linked due to all those leaks... The Big Bad Mouse might get TLG to give us a problem. Sorry!
-
I believe there was documentation that arose in the Tyco/TLG lawsuit of the 80s, where TLG had to admit that they had taken the original idea from the Kiddicraft design. As in, it was teased out in a court of law. That doesn't sound like permission to me... https://www.bailii.org/uk/cases/UKPC/1988/3.html It is a little dry, but there is no mention of permission, simply that Interlego purchased any remaining patents from the Page estate holders. Anywho, I have dusted of my crown for this argument I will buy any baseplates, accessories and cool themes that LEGO don't/won't produce and carry on enjoying building

Do we know that this isn't happening? If the affected accounts were old and inactive, it is not unheard of for people to ignore old inboxes or to have lost access. Not to mention those that shuttered their shop or fell off using the site for health/life reasons and are not able to monitor or act on things. I am not condoning bad actors and hackers, nor car theives, but they are a known risk so we act accordingly.

On one hand I agree. However on the other, if you have a really easily hacked password, it's sort of like leaving your car unlocked with a key in the ignition. "Why yes officer, my unsecured car was stolen"

Technic mocs with non lego parts

I think it should be okay. Though if the Technic fans have any problems, they will surely let you know! -
How did people react to your Lego interest when you were a teenager?
Peppermint_M replied to SpacePolice89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It is also helping that LEGO is known for its Mindfulness properties. In the UK we even had an ad campaign highlighting it. -
Oh good! This means I can make a vital order sooner than later.

For myself, there was a lot more than LEGO for others to make fun of. Hah. I was never bothered by peer pressure and fetched more jeers for being a bookworm and unfeminine (aka was not interested in chasing boys). I also have a lot of younger siblings, so my parents were happy to leave me to LEGO as it meant I was bonding well with my much younger brother. (And keeping a hyperactive under ten occupied for hours at a time.) Exo Force arrived just as I might have moved from LEGO to Gunpla more seriously. So I was kept hooked. The only time I had any comments in school was when I was 17/18 and in the Sixth form (post 16 education was optional when I was that age) and the sum interaction was "LEGO?" As I watched the revenge of the brick animation on one of the PCs. When I replied "Yeah, it's cool." The response was a moment of thought and "Actually, yeah it is". I faced more of an issue with my father when I was an adult (post twenty years old) but once I started travelling to Billund etc, he settled on it as I had friends with respectable careers I was meeting with and also in an era we AFOLs were still something of a puzzler to the company, I met up with TLG Community Engagement once or twice in various events. Those minifig business cards changed his tune right away Now it's an accepted part of who I am, a talking point on my CV and instant cool credits with my friend's kids. -
It surprises me just how much I rely on Bricklink for a lot of MOC planning, even when I am not buying.

That would be in LEGO General Discussion then. There are threads for "What Set did you Buy" and a whole host of other topics that are more geared to that. Plus, you are welcome to start threads in the subtheme sections with a critique of a theme, wave or anything else
-
Um, that is the whole point of the entire site? General Discussion has a lot of the non-specific LEGO talk, each Theme section is in place for specific theme or set discussion related to the name of the section, or in the case of the more general (Special/Action and Adventure/SciFi, Historic) there is multiple LEGO themes discussion for the themes/sets that match each other in some way. As an FYI: Posting in this part of Eurobricks doesn't actually increase your post count/rank, so a thread like this is not going to help bump your numbers up. If you are unsure where to go for specific questions or discussion on a certain theme, feel free to ask any staff and we can direct you to the best place to look.

Adventure Supplies: Parts from other themes for Adventurers!
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
For other parts out there: The Harry Potter calendar has a trapper hat in a darker colour, making it a little more useful for the adventurer aesthetic. There is also a new fedora styled hat coming eventually, if you have seem the pictures floating around the internet.- 194 replies

Nah, have you seen the moulds themselves? (source) A few junked parts like that can be dumped into a pit with a substrate mix with no issues. It probably wouldn't be used as actual calculated concrete ingredients like gravels/sands needed. It wouldn't be considered as structural metal like the rebar either. While there has been recent research into plastics as a replacement for aggregates in concrete, there hasn't really been though of using metals as they are too valuable. Considering this tale was told about the "new" (now old) facilities in Billund, bespoke facilities that TLG were getting constructed from their own contracts. The Contract Tender process could have actually included a clause about "concealing retired moulds". For real, a lot of odd stuff is known to be used to create stable land for building (Like how much Bristol is under New York City) So, a bunch of, say, the 70s LEGO moulds being dumped and buried and not hurt anything. (Source: I have a HNC in Civil & Construction Engineering and worked in Civil Engineering offices, on design and Tender processes :D) Oh hey! (Just found these as I checked details) https://www.lego.com/en-us/history/articles/d-disposal-of-obsolete-moulds/ Photos! 1950s - 1970s moulds. Found under the old HQ in 2016. Actually would have loved to get one of those as a curiosity for my hoard of LEGO stuff.
-
It would likely be infill or like any other form of rubble used in levelling a plot. Or, a vault was designed into the foundation to specifically hold the moulds. The geological makeup of Denmark as a whole probably demands plenty of material anyway.
-
Yes, the designer himself got a real telling off for a doodle of a skeleton in the dungeon, he is a super chill guy to meet in person, really nice. Heard that story in person over a beer. As for the grey bricks: LEGO as a whole was against grey and green bricks so no overt tanks etc could get built. Ole, the founder, lived through both World Wars and Godtfred through the Second. Kjeld would have had this influence and grew up in a post war era where all of Europe was recovering. Myth Confirmed as the great ones said.

If local second hand shops exist, you may be able to sell through them, or even just donate. I know that Thrift Stores exist all over the world and even if you get a minimal return, you are setting it somewhere that is not landfill or to be ground up into plant pots...

It all depends upon what you are buying. Classic bricks, City and 4+ sets would be the themes most aimed at little kids, they would certainly supply plenty of varied parts for building and seeing as City has a lot of Police and Fire service, that is already plenty of same colours to work with. Sure, the classic bricks are a wonderful variety of colours, pretty similar to the sets of bricks from the 90s and 80s. The 4+ all depends on what you are picking up, so that could vary the colours a lot. At 8 I didn't have a bank of bricks to build a perfectly coloured structure and that was well over 25 years ago. However at 8 I don't think I cared that the colours were exactly perfect, heck, at 18 I still combined cheaper brick brands to bulk out my collection and build something in near enough the perfect colour scheme. Sure, this is a problem if kiddo wants to build Star Wars. That takes a few sets of Star Wars to gather enough grey, I am guessing this desire to build in the "right" colours comes from wanting to match you, which is sweet. Looks like it is time to start considering what sets to buy so he can MOC how he wishes

For some reason it is not letting me take it out, which is odd. @Jim does it need admin? It is not showing in your gallery, where I can usually delete from.
