    GBHQ

It's already looking pretty awesome so far. Like the others, I love what you did with the containment unit. Do you already know what you're going to do with the 3rd floor? It's very unclear what happens there. I believe it doesn't even appear in the 1st movie or the video game, and as for GB2, it's pretty uncertain.
  2. Not too sure about that, it could go both ways in all honesty. I just know a lot of fans aren't interested in this reboot and many even want to boycott it. They've been asking for a legit sequel for years, which has constantly been presented as a more or less likely possibility until Harold Ramis' passing... and now they get this instead. The disappointment is understandable. That's like asking for a LEGO set as a Christmas present and getting Mega B*** instead.
  3. I can't really say I'm surprised, I was expecting that to happen as soon as I saw TLG was making more GB sets for 2016. I'm not too sure getting this license was a wise decision though. Fans of the original movies are not too crazy about this project and I feel like this movie has the potential to be the next big box office bomb and another Lone Ranger for TLG. I can't really say much about the cast or the director as I don't think I've ever watched a single movie in which one of them was involved. Still, it doesn't look very appealing to me based on the pics I've seen and my general experience with reboots. Most likely going to pass on this theme unless they create some very cool ghosts... but then I'll most likely BL them. Yeah well he's not going to say the reboot will be an uninspired piece of garbage and a shameless cash-grab now is he? Spielberg also endorsed JW, just like Jim Cameron endorsed the last Terminator movie. That's just called marketing. And well, they're not going to bite the hand that feeds them. That's true but we can also agree that reboots and remakes can at best be forgettable but are almost always awful. The only times they can work is when the original movie is pretty old and forgotten (see The Thing or The Fly) or just plain bad (see Dredd), which obviously isn't the case for Ghostbusters. Like people always say: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I also believe this reboot became way too political. Those males vs. females debates had nothing to do with the franchise and it should have stayed that way.

    [LDD] Jurassic World Vehicles MOCs

Thank you for your kind words, it really means a lot. As for the ACU guys, I think I'll buy a second helicopter for the parts, the second pteranodon and the trooper. There's also the upcoming Dimensions set, which seems to be the cheapest way to get them so far (although that also means having a bunch of Owens...). Oh and just a little something I forgot to mention in the original message, I chose to use white bricks for the Unimog and the standard 4x4 but you might want to use light grey instead. The thing is those vehicles are metal grey in the movie but since the colour doesn't exist in the LEGO palette (at least outside of grids and stuff like that), I had to choose between white and light grey. I eventually chose white because I thought it looked more unique and seemed to work best with the stickers but I guess that's a matter of personal tastes.

Of course, no problem whatsoever. I'll probably just create a new thread and I'll post the LDD files there. I'll try to finish it this week.

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion

Ah shoot. I only saw the front of that torso on the promo pics. Well I guess you can forget about that one then. Glad I could help. I am actually. I'm trying to make some movie-accurate vehicles based on some of the City builds. I finished the regular 4x4 and I'm almost done with the Unimog, now I might try to make the 6x6 and the Sprinter. Still working with LDD for now (I might post pictures when I'm done) but I'm definitely going to build them once I get all the pieces I need.

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion

I'd either go with the female scientist from the CUUSOO/LEGO Ideas set or the one from the CMF (Series 11). There also the one (it looks like all scientist minifigs are female...) from the new Space Port theme but you can see some yellow flesh... but maybe that's not a big deal for you. You could use the garbagemen from 70805 or the new worker torsos from Space Port (again ) or from the 2015 Construction sets. There's also the one from 10219 but once again, you can see some yellow flesh:

Jurassic Park and Jurassic World Set Ideas Thread

I feel like we could have one big JP set with all the main characters, it would have a Ford explorer, a Jeep, Rexie, some fences and maybe Gennaro's restroom. We could have almost all the main characters in 1 set: Malcolm, Grant, Ellie, Muldoon, Lex, Tim and Gennaro. Hammond could be offered in a polybag or something. Or we could also have one wave for all 3 JP movies. Here are a few ideas: - Jeep Wrangler, Rexie, some fences and a tree trunk, Muldoon, Ian and Ellie - Ford explorer, triceratops, Grant, Ellie and Dr Harding - InGen helicopter; pteranodon, Hammond, Lex and Tim - TLW trailer, 1 Mercedes M-class, baby T-rex, adult T-rex, Ian, Sarah, Kelly, Nick and Eddie - InGen 'hunter' 4x4, pachycephalosaurus, Roland Tembo and either Ludlow or Dieter Stark - The boat from the end of JPIII, the spinosaurus, Alan and the Murphys - Dennis Nedry polybag (with shaving foam can) I know there aren't any raptors but we had 4 in the JW sets. I feel like that might be too many cars and T-rexes however... I also thought about adding some structures but the only ones I can think of are the raptor paddock and the visitors' center, both of which are too big to have a satisfying set based on them imo.

JLB frozen figures. are they worth it?

It seems minidolls are harder to copy than regular minifigs (which is understandable). I've seen some good bootlegs but this one seem kinda meh. Just buy one of the official polybags, it's not much more expensive and it's the real deal. This figure has nothing to do with Frozen anyway. Although I'm a bit of a purist, I can understand buying bootleg minifigs either when the character doesn't exist in LEGO form or if you don't want to pay an excessive amount of money for a loose minifig but this isn't worth it imo.
  11. Elrond

    What did you buy today?

I got 2 Jurassic World sets before I went to see the movie: Raptor Rampage and Pteranodon Capture. I also bought 4 series 13 CMF blind bags.

[ MOC ] Jurassic World Raptor Transport

Nice, that looks pretty cool and way better than the official vehicles from the JW theme. I really like that turret, it's a nice little detail. That motivates me to build my own JW vehicles.

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion

The more I look at the JW sets, the more I'm disappointed in this theme. The dinos and especially minifigs are awesome (and it seems like we'll get all the main characters and lots of army builders for once) but the vehicles are a real let down. Half of them aren't based on anything from the movie while the helicopter and the vet truck aren't very impressive. I think modding some vehicles from the City line will probably be the best option. The D-rex paddock does look nice though but even that doesn't seem to be based on the actual thing from the movie.

    LEGO Ideas Discussion

Congrats to the winner. Like I said in the other thread, it's not really my thing but it's still a great build. Now looking at the next review, I think we can safely say that the next winner will be the Science Adventures set (or maybe the T-rex?). The Frozen castle has already been made, the Zelda license seems to be a pain to get and It looks like all the other ideas are either too big or not very appealing to LEGO's main target demographic.
  15. Meh, an easy pass. It's a nice clever build but really not something I want to own as a LEGO set. Too bad for the JP and LOTR ideas (although I suppose the Minas Tirith set was probably too big to have a chance). Oh well, more money I will be spending on other themes I guess.

It might happen soon considering we finally got the pic for the remaining Avengers 2 set earlier today.

What if the Raptor Escape is actually a JP set and refers to the famous scene with Muldoon? I suppose it's very unlikely but who knows...

Dang, I hope the cost for it doesn't turn out to be insane. I was looking forward to that Hydra tank.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

It's weird we didn't get any pic of the Hydra fortress set we saw in the German catalog? Is it possible it got cancelled? Or maybe they're trying to avoid spoilers for the movie... although it doesn't seem to be more spoilery than any of the other sets. (I'm sorry if this question has already been answered)

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion

I'd be more than ok with more ACU guards. They seem to be fun to army-build. lol, I do feel really bad for whoever is going to man that green crane or stand outside the watchtower. It would probably be much better as a coelophysis paddock I suppose.

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion

I agree for the most part but here's my 2 cents anyway : Pterandon Capture: A nice surprise. The little chopper is pretty cool and doesn't look like anything we've had in the past. Minifigs are nice and the dino looks alright with these new colours. Definite purchase. Dilophosaurus Ambush: Probably my favourite set of the bunch. The classic Jeep and new dino mold look great. I'm not too crazy about the roll bars on the Jeep but that's pretty hard to reproduce in Lego form... still a must have. Raptor Rampage: Like I said earlier, the raptors look better than I remembered but the truck is going to need some serious modifications around the wheels and the suspension. Indominus Rex Breakout: The set looks alright, the triangle shape is a bit unexpected but it works. Despite the huge gate, it doesn't look like it'd be hard for the D-rex to reach the humans, which already was an issue with the Dino HQ. The little helicopter seems superfluous (and pretty ugly) and I wish we had one or two additional minifigs instead. T-Rex Tracker: IMO the weakest set of the wave by far. The vehicle looks silly and is most likely not based on anything from the movie, the minifigs are nothing special and the T-rex looks a lot like one of the Dino ones. Most likely a pass. It's ok overall but I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed as I was expecting more cool vehicles, but I believe one set still needs to be revealed so... fingers crossed. I also wish they went for the navy blue instead of the clear blue. Still, I'll probably get them all except the T-rex Tracker.

    Elves 2015

I was thinking about completely ignoring this theme but I noticed the tree house set is kinda neat. It'll need a bit of work but it might become a decent living place or outpost for the traditional Elf minifigs or the Forestmen.

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion

They are, and they are about twice as big as they should be. As some people have said, the mistake comes from the Dino mold but it still is rather annoying, especially considering the velociraptors in the JP movies already are bigger than they should be. I'm thinking it might have been better to use the Dino coelophysis mold and repaint it. Sure he lacks the signature claw but he'd look much better next to minifigs and the other dinos.

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion

They sure are but the more neutral lighting makes them look much better/less toyish. BTW I just now realised how much they scaled down the raptors' size on the promo pic.

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion

That's what I was going to say. The colours really do look much better here. The minifigs are pretty much what I expected but they're still really nice. I'm a bit disappointed by the vehicle though, the suspension look completely wrong. It's going to need a lot of modifications.
