July 2016 LEGO trains and town layout - real life WIP

This looks really nice, although I'd like to more of that tramp steamer!

    have you checked Bricklink?

    Duplo and Lego tracks compatible

They are (sort of). I was able to make dual gauge track by placing a old gray 4.5v rail on the side of a 9v track to make a dual gauge of 4 studs and 5 studs. Flanged duplo wheels are able to run on the 5stud. I don't think curves are possible. There might be a way of reverse( dual gauge with duplo on the bottom). I haven't tried that (yet).

    MOC: 2-2-4 Steamer

The hard part about building steamers is getting 'em to go around curves! After that they're pretty easy. I wanted this to have the feel of a early railroading era engine. A newly built line's first engine, for example. Maybe 1840's-ish? The front is solid and the back truck has to swivels to allow sideways motion on the curves

    Space: 1999 Eagle WIP

I wanted to make it minifigure scale and promptly realized it was huge. I am waiting for more pieces before I attempt the rest. I am not sure I like this version of the grills on top...

Was this built for Aperture Science?

    8097 Slave I mod

I changed the way the entry is on my Slave I. So a few weeks ago I found one of these Slave I at wallyworld and promptly purchased it. After I assembled it I found to my disappointment I found it was almost impossible to recreate the Cloud City Departure scene from ROTJ. Then I made a few changes... The biggest change so far is the ramp. It now allows minifigs to stand on it. Also the ship can stand upright. See more at my blog!

    8097 Slave I mod

Thanks for the replies! I feel so much better for the playability. The second photo was created by simply placing the ship in front of the monitor. I googled "cloud" and found an appropriate picture. I set my camera on macro and no flash and that was it!

MOC: The Rocket 1829 Anno Domini

OK, I think I got how you did the boiler:Tank treads.... Am I right? (this reminds me to post my 2-2-4)

    HMS Venture

Yes, I have two bbb. I thought that was obvious from the earlier replies. Actually, I bought my second of bricklink with no minifigs.

The A-Z of things to build

I used to live near Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown, so this period is very familiar to me and building stuff like this is *nostalgic*. Besides it's just fun and different than town and space all the time.

    Random Silliness

Food chain in action. On a far away green sea, a group of pirates sailing o'er the krunkle plants rescue a lone rabbit from the kelp sharks.

    Port Framboise

Finally I have had the time to take pix of this. The only thing I have changed since the last is adding this wall weathering. Here is a view of the back. And here is a view of the trapdoor that goes directly to jail and does not pass Go. A hapless redcoat patrol about to meet their doom. Facing the enemy.... Click here to view more.

    WIP "The Big Goodbye"

It was raining on the city by the bay. Rainin' hard. I like the way the first turned. I used a point like source. But I need some ideas on how to light rooms. There is also the secretary's office and a hallway, but I don't want to reveal them quite yet. Any ideas?

    WIP "The Big Goodbye"

I am a Physics major Comp Sci minor with a big emphisis in math, but this was for the core curriculum Theater class. @Big Cam When I am taking the picture, I am trying to get the light to be a soft glow and not be too washed out looking:

    WIP "The Big Goodbye"

Thanks for your comments! I really was looking for photography tips, as the moc was meant to be taken to class. I took it to class this morning and my professor loved it. It's not everyday you get college credit for LEGO. Later tonight I'll post some pix of the whole thing and some of the characters. Then there are some gadgets I would like to play around with in the Physics department, like bombarding LEGO with x-rays, but that will wait till next semester.

    WIP Port Framboise

So with my Christmas money I finally joined the Jolly World of Blue! And today I built this Port using components from the 6259 Broadside's Brig, 6267 Lagoon Lock-Up, and 6265 Sabre Island. While not having the muscle as my Redcoat Port Ettinsmoor, it can still put up a good fight. This side I think is the least finished. I am still thinking about what details to put on this side. I enjoyed making the wall on this side. No, your eyes do not fool you. This IS a trap door that drops into the jail below. Another detail of the wall. I think it could use some more detail and I think I need to work out some kinks in the color scheme. I also want to do a wave job but I need to scrounge for parts. What do you think so far? VIVE LE BLEU!

    WIP Port Framboise

I was thinking about trying to make it modular, like a dock for warships on one side or a trading post on the other. Since the 32 x 32 blue baseplates have come back out it will make things easier.

    WIP Port Framboise

Merci for your replies. I changed the arch between the yellow jail and the office to be a yellow wall with peel. But I'll look at it some more. Meanwhile, there is a Caribbean Clipper in the mail... VIVE LE BLEU!
  22. 105d So I finally finished it. It is now on display until New Year's at the Arkansas State Capitol Building. What do you think? Click the first pic to see more.

    Port Ettinsmoor-Final Display Edition

I was invited after the Capitol Historian saw my display at the Pine Bluff train show last April. There really isn't a LUG except I like to call myself RockLug. The background was not my idea. I think it could have been a little different. The paper clippings are old LEGO ads from the 60's that the Historian printed off of Brickfetish.com I believe.

    Port Ettinsmoor-Final Display Edition

@ImperialScouts Really don't know have long it took to make. It took several weeks to plan, but that was doing two other displays and homework. Thanks for all your comments! I guess I better post Town and Space...

    (WIP) Port Ettinsmoor

The biggest problem I am having is how do the Imperial get off the rock? Would it be better to have a ramp or ladder? The crane is for moving cannon around. Oh, I do have more redcoats on order.
