    REVIEW: A-Wing fighter, 6207

I paid a bit more than 5000 yen. Is that far too expensive? I think where you live makes a difference. Americans are used to 10 cents a piece prices, but I've gotten used to 20-25 cents a piece prices here. I'm in my 30's, so the economics are a bit different for me, but I've adjusted. This is a really nice ship (as I said in the review) and my favorite of the 5 Rebel ships of the last 2 years. You could get a nicer price if you looked for a used/boxless one. Go for it! I haven't regretted any of my purchases here, though I felt a little ripped off by the Hailfire Droid & Spider Droid, which cost $41 American at Toys R Us. The A-Wing has less pieces, cost more, and I don't feel ripped off at all. Go for it!
  2. I love the color on this. I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks.

6970 Beta I Command Base Review

I had this set. In fact, I bet it's still in a box mixed with other sets in my parent's basement. Just looking at those instruction photos bring chills to me. At 5 or 6 years old, building that mini mono rail was beyond fascinating. Great great post, personally.

    Parts Quality

I got a 2006 Star Wars X-Wing set, and Luke's helmet had the paint 90% scratched off. I sent a request, and a free replacement arrived a week or two later, from Europe to Japan. I have no complaints with the Lego company whatsoever.

What was the last set you got in 2008?

Last set was a Tie Interceptor bought in an online auction. The first set will is a Droid Gunship, that I wanted to buy while it was still around. 2009 will be a big and expensive Lego year for me. I've agreed to restrict it to $150 a month or so with my wife.

My creation Mini Star Wars EP.1-3

The Jedi starfighters are both beautiful. I'd love to see instructions for these (mostly the wings and attachment). Good stuff.

    REVIEW 8019 Republic Attack Shuttle

Great review, thanks. So far, this is the most intriguing 2009 set.
  8. Nope, that is the newer ESB Slave 1, though currently none are up for bid. I set an account at bricklink, and am looking into shipping. Currently, 100 yen is about $1.10 U.S., so it might be worth it. Take a look at the Japanese Lego auctions. Some of the prices are outrageous, though not so many people are buying. Average price is 20 cents a piece. Less than that is a deal. http://list4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/42125...egory-leaf.html I'd love either slave ship. I like the Jango color scheme. We'll see what happens.
  9. I'll have to look there again. Truth is, Lego in Japan is around, but not like in the Western world, so you have to pay for it. Bricklink has few Japanese dealers. But, with the yen rising, maybe I can find a deal. Glad to hear some people have a good vibe with the ship.

    2008 Picture thread

I'm not loving Dooku's sailor. It seems like poor design on the part of Lucasfilm. I read yesterday that the first episode of Clone Wars in the new year will be called "Dooku Captured" so maybe it'll debut there? Maybe on screen, its charms will be revealed. The show has made the rest of these ships come to life, and there is a good chance I will buy each and every one. btw, cartoonnetwork will be showing all online from Dec. 22 to Jan. 2, so it's worth a look. I particularly liked the white version of the Republic Cruiser. I'd love to have that as a ship, but I guess it's too soon after the last red Cruiser.
  12. Looks fine to me. It's on the list... When does that come to Japan? March or something?
  13. I love Plo Koon. He goes so well with Kit Fisto.

    Review - 7143 Jedi Starfighter

I got outbid on that tonight in an online auction... it would look good next to this year's Annakin ship, so I'm still going to keep my eye out for it. The color is not my favorite shade of red though.

    Review: Rogue Shadow set #7672

I've played through the whole game, and don't remember a battle-damaged Darth Vader But I only did the 'light side" ending.

    Review: Set 7667 Imperial Dropship

I got this yesterday, and it's kind of nice for a little ship. One little gripe is the way the storm troopers sit, it looks really funny for a drop ship. I stood them up, but one gets and engine in the face.

    The Republic I-Wing Fighter

Very smooth. Was this a home design or based on an existing ship?
  19. " It's a little too technic" I've been reading a few reviews here, and this is a phrase that's come up here and there, and I'm a bit puzzled by it. I had a bunch of Star Wars Lego from the first series 10 years ago, and some from the current ones, and I like the current remodels much better. They're all toys, but the current lines are much more sophisticated looking. I have both the new and old b-wing and Naboo fighter, and the newer ones are much better, IMHO. When building the 2008 sets, I'm really fascinated by the way the Technic parts come together, like in the AT-TE or Rogue Shadow sets. I'd like to hear some of the long timers here express if they like the newer Technic direction in the Star Wars series (it seems to me to be since 2005-6 that a shift happened). Also, I'd like to know if this is specific to the Star Wars series, or if this is a shift of the company to its other lines also. Something has changed in Lego over the last 10 years, and I'd like to hear the opinions of those who've been keeping track.
  20. I really dig this ship, I'd been thinking about it for weeks. The detachable ring, and the bold colors. All the jedi starfighters are slick, but this one has a new design. I'm totally satisfied, and more so since I got it at ¥7500 instead of the ¥10,000 list price. My only gripe is the cockpit is wobbly, I can't find any way to tighten it.

    A question about the V-19

I've totally stabilized mine with a quick little mod. In the black base pieces, I removed the back beige axle-pin and added a regular pin, but to the lowest hole instead of the back one. With this, it's a little back heavy, and tips backwards easily. So I then changed the back "feet" (part 4211536) to a three stud long axle with a stop (4211086) with a stud on the end. I used a white stud and it fits along with the design. Now it sits perfectly level. This isn't high tech, but an easy solution, and on the downside, they don't retract so well. But, my ships stay on the shelf more than in my hands. Lovely set, made it tonight!

    Review: Rogue Shadow set #7672

I quite like this ship. I'm a fan of the original trilogy, but the ships aren't so exciting anymore, I've seen them too much I guess. This ship is a new design, and I like the asymmetrical style more than the standard symmetrical style (which is why the Millennium Falcon is cooler than most other SW ships). Also, the all black is really sleek. In the video game, it's much more gray, so IMO the Lego ship looks better than the actual one in the game I built this the day I bought it, and it seemed a little flimsy, but I actually missed a step or two, and the second time it came out quite stable. I have to pick which ships will stay on display in my room, and this one has stayed.

    Hello

Actually, I was working at Toys R Us when the Star Wars sets came out 10 years ago, and got a bunch of those. Then I quit, and moved to Japan, leaving them in Canada. A few months ago, for whatever reason, I ordered the Y-Wing since it was on sale on Amazon Japan, plus the book the Lego Builders Guide, and since then, I've bought most of the 2007 and 2008 big sets I could find. I'm married with a bit spare cash, so I'm indulging in a way I couldn't afford to as a kid. I love these things, and it seems like I've just regained an old hobby. I've asked my parents to find those 10 year old sets and bring them with them when they visit at New Years, and I'll be able to double my collection all at once Anyway, thanks for the welcomes. I've been surfing Lego sites for the last 2 months, and this was the one that made me want to join. Wonderful
