Again, good re-caps there, but I think the Blue Shadow Virus episodes were among my least favourite in the series, I don't even remember a lot of the things you mentioned, I think I totally zoned out. Like you said, I think there was definitely potiential with the plot, but they were really lazy with it and just handled it in a way that was difficult to care about. On the plus side, the Ryloth episodes coming up were a lot better. There's only two weeks before the new season starts as well, do you plan on updating here with each episode when it's on?, or are you going to wait until the whole thing is finished again.

AT-AT's are huge. I can't even find a decent picture to demonstrate that fact.. but yeah. Perhaps a USC one, yes, but a mini-fig scale one is not happening.
-
That's pretty much what I expect from the Turbo Tank too.. but I'm really hoping for an Aayla Secura or Shaak Ti. Shaak Ti hasn't been in the series yet, but I imagine she'll show up sooner or later.

I guess we have differing opinions then. I hate the TIE Defender, but love the landspeeder. It's great to see a return to the cheap sets and both Obi-Wan and C-3PO are two characters that haven't come with any sets for years, with the exception of the very expensive UCS Death Star. They could have done more with it, but I'm happy. I also love the ARC Fighter, I never got the chance to pick one of those up last time so I definitely will now. The new Clones look good and another set with Kit Fisto is always welcome, although I'd have liked to see a Clone Wars redesign for him.. Hopefully we'll see Aayla Secure, Ki Adi Mundi or Shaak Ti sometime soon. :(

I predict a lot of Clone Wars hate.. Anyway, I'd have to say my least favourite set is the Twilight. It's a pretty cool ship, and had a lot of potiential to make a great set, but I really don't think they did a good job with it. I'm also not a fan of Vulture droids. They're designed well enough, but just the fact they seem to keep throwing them into the Starfighter sets to boost up the prices really bothers me. Cheaper sets have seen a bit of a come back, so here's hoping Plo Koon's figher isn't bundled with one. My least favourite minifig is General Grievous, I think it just looks awful and basically looks like he's a MOC made out of spare parts. Considering how threatening he's supposed to be.. the minifig version just looks sad.

I don't mind that it's a Kit Fisto, I'd be very happy to see him in another set. I just wanted to know if it was this one again, or if he's been redesigned.

I was definitely suspicuous.. But so far he's been dead on, particularly with the Freeco bike. All of us assumed it would come with Rex and some snow Clones, somehow I don't think he just guessed the correct line up, shortly before we got the scans. You can't really expect him to give away his source though, he could get someone into a lot of trouble. For example, I have a friend who works for Sony testing game products, and he told me about the PSP Go, Slim Line PS3, etc, long before rumours started cropping up on game sites. I could have told a lot of those sites, but they probably wouldn't have believed me, and I couldn't tell them my source without putting the guys job in danger. So just be happy he's willing to give us information :)

Some of you guys are being pretty evil, there's a limited amount and kids want these things too. I managed to get my Clone Walkers from WHSmith this morning, since they were closed yesterday, so I'm happy at least. The Clone Walker is very cute, and I like the Tie Fighter, it's nice to see we're finally getting mini's over here again.

I assume you mean prequel, and not original trilogy? :) I don't suppose you happen to know if it's the same Kit Fisto that was released with Obi-Wans booster ring, or if it's a new version? Definitely early versions. I mentioned it before, but Obi-wan appears to just be wearing Han's hoth clothes, rather than the white and red he wore in that episode. And the number of pieces listed on the boxes is way off. Over 400 pieces in $10 battlepacks? I think not. But I love these new sets, can't wait to see the rest of them.. The only one I don't particularly like is the Tie. I'm not a huge fan of the EU and the idea of just sticking more wings on a Tie Fighter reminds me of Star Trek fans that seem to think better ship design = more warp nacelles, so we end up with things like the Enterprise-X, which just look totally ridiculous.. But it seems to be popular, so I won't complain. But if we're going to be seeing more EU sets, why not something like the Moldy Crow?
-
Typical. The one day I don't bother to check the site much is the one day it updates with all these pictures. Did Anakin ever use one of the Freeco bikes? I'd say it's Obi-wan but the colours don't really match what he wore in that episode.. I don't think they'd go back and do another Talz episode either though. Hmm. I assume it's just because they're prelim shots. It also says the battlepacks have 442 pieces, which seems incredibly unlikely, especially because of the size of them in the pictures. Hoping the Kit Fisto in the ARC fighter turns out to be true as well then, I'd love a Kit Fisto, especially if it's a new Clone Wars version.

Definitely not, I imagine we'll see the Malevolence as the 'Tantive IV' set for next year that was hinted at during the quest for R2 short. And like you said, they'll be other special edition sets like the Pirate Tank, I'd be surprised if we don't see some kind of Cad Bane/bounty hunter set.
-
I agree that it should have been a Scout trooper, I'm guessing they used a Stormtrooper for marquee value. The reason they didn't use a proper speederbike is because this is a free set, with very few pieces. Including more would have bumped the manufacture costs up a lot. I mentioned in the other topic that I don't think this is a brilliant set, but for free, you can't really complain. Assuming you missed the topic about it, they're being giving away in the UK for purchasing the Daily Mirror (or Record in Scotland). You just collect the token from the newspaper and trade it in.
-
It never even occured to me until now, otherwise I would have asked while I was there. But yeah, I assume they'll have all of them in stock, so I don't see why they wouldn't give you them if you just ask, otherwise they're just going to have a big pile lying around that they're not allowed to sel. Toys R Us is a bit too far out of the way for me, so I'll just have to hope they will do both on Monday.
-
Speaking of which.. WHSmith isn't open on Sundays. Does anyone know if we can pick that one up on Monday, or will we have to go to Toys R Us for that one?
-
Actually.. The set coming with Obi-wan, Rex and a couple of Clones would make sense. The ARC Fighter coming with Kit Fisto would also be amazing, I'd love to see a new version of him. But I'm guessing his friend is just guessing.
-
Well, here's the first set. Perhaps someone else can do a "full review" but there's not really too much to be said. It's not a great set, and as far as I know, doesn't actually resemble any type of speeder from the movie or even the EU. But it's a nice little freebie. I'm already picking up a few sets for some friends though, so I don't think I'll be able to pick any up for anyone here. But like others have said, once it's over I'll see if there's anything left over and see how the mail ordering works :)
-
A little off topic, but I wasn't entirely sure where to put this. The game Clone Wars: Republic Heroes reveales Cad Bane's custom ship, 'the Sleight of Hand' :) I thought it was pretty cool, and would make an interesting Lego set. Considering his role in the new series, I find it odd that he doesn't appear to be in any of the sets, I think this would have made more sense than another Grievous starfighter.
-
Wow, very pleased to see we're actually getting these, I wasn't expecting that at all. I'll definitely have to pick up the newspaper, for the first few days at least. No so interested in the posters.
-
I disagree. There's a whole topic about it, so I don't see why we're back to discussing it here, but the whole thing was basically a massive toy ad, it was there to promote the new sets. When they already have things like a Grievous minifig, an ARC fighter and a Han in carbonite, why would they go to the trouble of designing new ones, when they could simply use the old ones? Look at the Lego videogames, and all the previous comics, etc that have used the Lego.. They always go with actual minifigs/sets, except when they don't exist. I do agree that the Han is a bit of a stretch, but considering we know there's a Slave 1 coming next year.. It kind of fits doesn't it? And what about the Malevolence towards the end, that was a blatent hint towards a new set, not just something they threw in randomly. Obviously they were mostly trying to promote the current sets, but I do think they were throwing us little hints. And yes, I study marketing.
-
What a toy ad that was. But pretty interesting to see some of the new stuff. At first I thought people were assuming too much, just because this little cartoon shows something doesn't mean they'll actually be future sets or anything, but yeah after watching it, I see they were clearly trying to show us new things. The new Grievous isn't quite what I expected, I was hoping for a more detailed CW head, but his body does at least look a lot better. The carbonited Han contradicts information we've been told about the Slave 1 set, again it being here doesn't necessarily mean it will be used.. But this little short was nothing but product placement, so I don't see why they would have made a different looking version of Han in carbonite, when they could have simlpy used the old one. Seems likely we'll be seeing that in the Slave 1. The Malevolence was definitely the highlight though. I imagine that'll be the 'Tantive IV' for next year.
-
I'm pretty sure all the PT sets coming next year will actually be based on the Clone Wars.
-
What's the source of those rumours? Haven't really heard anything like that before, but considering the Mandalorians were seen in the trailer for the second series, that might make sense.. In which case, it could even be a Clone Wars version of the Slave 1. Though I'd still have my money on an OT one.
-
I have to agree, and still prefer a Kaminoan/Jango set, but it's almost definitely going to be Boba's, for the same reason we're getting Plo Koon's starfighter instead of a new character, it's just easier for them.. There's also the fact we only seem to get OT and Clone Wars sets now, no Prequel trilogies.
-
I believe it comes from an anonymous source inside Lego, which normally would be higly suspect.. But you have to take into account that pretty much all their lists from before have been near 100% accurate. I get what you're saying about most of them, but on the Greivous' point, like I said before, it's most likely a Clone Wars update, rather than the Episode II/III version (same goes for Palpatines shuttle and the Clone tank). We're in dire need of an updated Grievous minigfig.. Though why it's another starfighter and not a different set, I don't know. And speaking of which, I think it's odd that there's no sets with Cad Bane, considering his role in the new series. He's only been in one episode so far, but he was very cool in that alone. I thought they'd have lept on the chance to do him along with Aurra Sing and the rest of his cronies.

Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter This one seems quite obvious, we already have a Plo Koon figure from the Gunship, all they need to do is put him in a slightly modified version of Ahsoka's. I can see a lot of people complaining that we're getting another one, but I love the ships.. Although I'd prefer to see some Interceptors, and an Ayla Secure or CW Kit Fisto. Wampa Attack This is another obvious one, a lot of people have been waiting one for quite a while, and I imagine this will be another smaller set, similar to the Echo Base. Sounds good to me. General Grievous' Starfighter This one sticks out quite a bit.. I believe we had this one just back in 2007. I can only assume this will be a Clone Wars version, which I'd at least look forward to. I'm not sure how others feel, but I thought the current Grievous minifig was awful. A more detailed one would be nice. Palpatines shuttle I don't know what to expect from this one, it's a cool design and it'll be a cheaper way to get the Palpatine figure, but I couldn't even guess what it would come with, other than generic guards/droids. Hopefully they do something a little cooler with it. Slave I Personally, I'm hoping this is Boba Fett's. I know it was done not too long ago, but it was a popular set. Boba Fett, Han in carbomite and some cloud city guards. I wouldn't mind if it's Jango's either though, they could do a little Jango vs Obi-wan battle and throw in little Boba and some Kaminoans. Clone Turbo Tank Very cool vehicle, I imagine it'll just come with a few standard clones and maybe a Jedi General. Aayla Secura.. please?
