I only got in to collecting after this set was released, but this is one of the few I've looked back on and really wished I was around to get. The amount of things you get for just £40 is ridiculous, it has to be the best value for money Lego has ever produced. I really love the Episode III starfighters, hopefully they're something we'll see again next year, especially as we seem to be seeing a return to the RoTS sets. Good review too, I enjoyed seeing some more pictures of this one.

I've pointed this out in the past, but I guess some of you guys missed it. But the UK sets are all up on DVD.co.uk for release on the 25th of January. ARC-170 Starfighter– £50 Freeco Speeder – not listed, most probably £20 though TIE Defender – £40 Rebel Trooper Battle Pack – £10 Snowtrooper Battle Pack – £10 Droid Tri-Fighter – £25 Luke’s Landspeeder – £25 Won't know about the Swamp Speeder until later, but £25-30 sounds about right unfortunately. The Landspeeder is overpriced as it is, but it at least comes with a good selection of pretty rare minifigs. (Tattooine Luke, Ben and C-3P0). The Swamp speeders only appeal is Barris Offee, but she's likely to be pretty sought after because of her recent role in the Clone Wars, and since it's a limited edition set, I could see it easily going for £30.

Once again.. PRELIMS! A lot of your complaints about the Wampa and starfighter, etc can most likely be ignored simply due to the fact these sets are not final, but this Aayla Secura complaint has been mentioned several times, when it's blindingly obvious she's a very early prototype. I'm also not sure why there's so many complaints about Anakin and Ahsoka.. Yeah, I'm sure most of us already have them, but a lot of kids buying these sets won't, so including the two main characters from the show is going to draw a lot of people to the set. I've never seen complaints about Luke or Han being included in sets.. Scion already pointed this out, but yeah, it's obviously a CW set due to the inclusion of Nahdar Vebb.

Thank you. I just meant that, it's understandable that Aayla is unfinished, she's using an entirely new mold. But it's not like we've never had blue lightsabers though, so I'm guessing whoever put the set together just didn't know, and the detail will be corrected for the final version. Was only meant as an observation. Tell me about it. I've decided I probably won't buy the Slave 1.. but if we end up getting a Cloud City (which I'd love!) I think the two would go together too well for me not to get it as well. But for now, I think we have enough sets to worry about.
-
Notice the big "preliminary" written across the images? They're unfinished, and we're not supposed to have seen them yet. I mentioned it before, but pretty much all of the sets have aspects that are clearly unfinished, but Aayla is the most prominant example. She has a completely blue torso with no detail at all, and her head tails are all white, simply because she's not a finished model. That'll definitely change before release. Odd that Plo Koon has a green lightsaber though, I can't imagine why they'd have done that when I'm sure they have plenty of blue's lying around. Perhaps accidentally.

Very obviously preliminary, there's a few bits in most of them that are clearly unfinished (Aayla Secura inparticular!) But wow, these are amazing. I think this is the first wave where I've wanted to buy every single set. Wampa Attack: Another nice addition to the Hoth set, I've been wanting a Hoth Luke to go on my second Taun Taun, and another snowspeeder is very welcome. Plo Koon: I can see a lot of people not being too fussed about this one, but I love my little collection of Starfighers and I've always liked Plo Koon's design. I'm guessing that astromech design isn't finished, but I like that it simply comes with the Starfighter and Plo Koon, no annoying extras like those vulture droids nobody likes just to boost the price. Grievous: I skipped the 2007 version and have said here a couple of times that I think the Grievous minifig is one of the worst things Lego has ever produced. This one definitely seems to be a huge improvement and I love the inclusion of Nahdar Vebb. (and it's a good use of the Ackbar mold) Shuttle: This is the one I care about the least.. Getting the Emperor is fantastic, and I love the injured Anakin/Vader. But the ship design doesn't appeal to me very much, and it's likely to cost £50. I'm so tempted for the minifigs alone, but considering how much I love all the others, I may skip this one. Slave 1: I'm not a huge Boba Fett fanboy, but this set is very well done. The new Fett looks great, Bossk is cool and the carbonated Han should be good too. I see this one selling very well. CTT: Easily my favourite set of the bunch. The tank itself looks like a great design, huge improvement over the last. Cad Bane and Aayla Secura are just awesome. Honestly cannot believe 2011 could be any better than this wave.

Good to see I'm not the only one who thought the heads look a bit odd with those helmets. I also see what you're getting at, a lot of these new sets seem to be designed to be put together. The Echo Base, these two battle packs and the Wampa Attack coming late next year seem to have been made in the idea that you'll buy all of them to put together. Shame last years Hoth Base was such a limited run too, because that was perfect to go with all these new ones. But I don't think that's too much of a problem, the battlepacks have always been intended as "army builders", and I think the minifigs here are really well done. I look forward to having a nice little Hoth collection.

He's not dead. Seems like he somehow survived (which is good as the ending was awful) and is now struggling to choose between the dark side and the light. I'm not sure we'll see anymore sets though, there's not all that much they can do with it. Although a Marris Brood minifig with the lightsaber tonfas would be pretty cool.
-
Not exactly brilliant camera work, perhaps you should tell him to get a tripod or something? But I at least appreciate the quality, most Lego reviews on Youtube are done with extremely bad cell phones. Really impressed by the set though. A tad over priced, perhaps, but I'm looking forward to it.

This is exactly what I was thinking, looking at it, I can't tell if it's supposed to be a CW or RoTS set. Barris looks very CW, even if she's not, she's still going to look as though she fits in beside Ahsoka. But of course the Phase II trooper would imply that this is RoTS, bar some form of jump in the CW timeline (which isn't completely out of the question). Like was said, it's only a slightly modififed Plo Koon's starfighter Since we're getting that in Summer, I don't see why they'd need to do something so similar. I'm sure it'll be easy to modify it.
-
The landspeeder is a nice little set, it's really great to see Lego doing more of these smaller ones. Good selection of minifigs too, I still think I'd have prefered a Bantha and some sand people, but that probably would have boosted the price. I'm happy with the classic Luke, Ben and C-3PO, all of which have been pretty rare.
-
Barriss would make sense, as she's had a rather prominant role in the Clone Wars lately and her relationship with Ahsoka has been one of the best parts of the entire series thus far. Her greenish skin would also explain why the minifig looks yellow. But then why would she be with a Phase II trooper? It's been speculated that the Phase II's would eventually be introduced into the series, but I couldn't see them doing that anytime soon. I think chances are it'll just be another Episode III, but by including one of the popular Clone Wars characters along with it, should help make it appeal to the CW fans.
-
We've not seen any pictures of the Summer sets and are unlikely to for a while.. But certain sources on this site have seen them, and they were the reported minifigs. Considering they were 100% spot on for the early 2010 sets, I see no reason to doubt them for these ones either.
-
On the topic of UK prices, DVD.co.uk actually already has a couple of the sets for order (out January 25th) The Tri-fighter is £25, the Defender is £40 and the ARC is £50. So you were mostly right there.
-
There's plenty pictures of the Defender going about. Not so much for the Land Speeder, but I assume that set will be exclusive to Lego stores, thus there won't be any leaked pictures from catalogues, or online stores, etc, going around for it.

Samey mini-figs tend to ruin sets, or at least make them much less appealing to many. Look at the AT-OT set, I think it's fantastic but 8 clones..? It's not like people are going to buy these sets as army builders and even just one Jedi mini-fig would have made it much better, in my opinion. And it's the same here, without the Kit Fisto, I'd be much more hesitant to buy it. (even if these new pilots are very cool). I love all these sets though, sans the Tie Defender (simply for it being from the EU) but it still looks like a pretty nice set. Looking forward to seeing the battle packs and the Landspeeder though, which is actually a bit disappointing because those are the ones I'm looking forward to the most. I'm a bit concerned about the price is going to be for the ARC fighter in the UK..

The Mandalorans will be in season 2, and it's heavily rumoured Boba Fett will be appearing. However, Vader, Leia and Han were also said to be in the sett along with Boba and Bosk and the chances of them appearing in Clone Wars is pretty slim.
-
Going by what we know, it's not. We usually get mostly CW stuff in one wave, and then mostly OT stuff in the other wave for that year. I don't see the need to complain about it, I think they balance it out pretty well.
-
Perhaps so you can use him in your other Hoth sets if you want, but he's still generic enough to be any random pilot.
-
I did enjoy the book a lot, but this is something I actually agree with a lot. I think they could have gone out of their way to take some more unique photo's of the sets, rather than just using so many stock images. Not a huge deal, it's still a very interesting book, but it does feel quite lazy.
-
I really enjoyed the introduction of Cad Bane, and it was great to see him reappear in season 2. It would have been so easy for them to just create a Boba Fett clone, but instead they made a very unique new villian. I especially like that he's actually intelligent, rather than just being tough or having lots of fancy gadgets.. he plans his attacks very carefully and is even smart enough to know he isn't going to be able to beat a Jedi head on, so seeing how he gets around those problems is really interesting. Season 2 as a whole seemed to be quite a big improvement. The story felt more thought out, the animation was leagues above what we've seen so far and the writters really seem to know what they've messed up with on season 1. A lot of people disliked Ahsoka because of her attitude, she's the "cool, smart kid" that always seems to be right, when the "grown ups" are wrong. So it was nice to see her really messing up and actually get punished for what she did. Back on the topic of Lego, I'd love to see a set with Bane, Aura Sing and Bossk.. But more imporantly we need an Aayla Secura! And the Munificent-class Star Frigate has probably been my favourite ship so far. I'd also quite like to see the Aclamator as well, although it's quite similar to the Venator, a bigger, flatter version of it would be very cool.
-
Yeah, I'm fairly sure we'll see a Cad Bane set next year, perhaps with his own ship. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h203/Win...nd/DSCF3090.jpg

Correct. I'm not so sure I'm fond of the idea, I would have prefered if they simply went in a linear path up to the begining of Episode III. But they've said this series will skip through-out the timeline, so phase-II troopers, ARC-fighters, Jedi interceptors, etc, are very possible.
-
Yeah, I think the decision there was probably because Plo Koon has a much more unique Starfighter, where as Kit Fisto's is a lot like Ahsoka's. We don't need another red and green one.

Best SW set in the 10 years of Lego Star Wars
Penitent Tangent replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Mine is the Hoth base, I think it's the perfect set. I'm more of a collector, but it would make a nice little playset.. you get the sliding doors, a probe droid, plenty of minifigs (good guys and bad guys), turrets, control panels and even a Snowspeeder. It was very reasonably priced too, and now with things like the Echo base and the Hoth battlepacks coming, there's a lot you can add on to it. Only complaint is how limited it was, which seems very silly if they're going to be making all these add ons for it.
