It's pretty basic stuff really.. They really did a horrible job with Batman, cancelling the liscence just before the videogame and the Dark Knight movie came out. As soon as everyone started to care about the sets, you could only get them for hundreds on eBay.

[Review] 7778 Midi-scale Millenium Falcon
Penitent Tangent replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I was a little on the fence with this set, but I finally decided to buy it, and I do love it a lot. The smaller scale looks great, and I'd really like to see Lego release more of the ships to go along with this. My only problem is with the stickers.. the cockpit ones are actually three seperate stickers! that was a nightmare to put on straight. -
Review: Gold Minifig Keychain
Penitent Tangent replied to Erdbeereis's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Just got mine today, it's pretty neat, but definitely just a collectors item. It would get wrecked pretty quickly if you actually used it on your keys. -
I'm not sure it had "loads" of potiential, but it might have been fun to see at least another couple sets.
-
Not bad for the Home One, but I was expecting the other two to be at least £10 cheaper, those are pretty expensive.. Also, is there any word of us getting the chrome storm trooper? I plan on ordering some of the new sets, but I'd rather get everything at once to save on postage.

It's definitely different, but I really like this set. The design of the tank is pretty cool, and I like the piratey minifigs. I'd quite like to see them do some more sets like this, based on the random planets and aliens from Clone Wars. My one complaint is, again that they could have included Jar-Jar since he was features so heavily in that episode. But perhaps they thought nobody would want him? It is a little strange having people screaming for more Jar-Jar

There's quite a lot of OT sets coming later this year, hoping for more than that is only going to leave you disappointed. We got so many Clone Wars sets because that's what's in demand, they're the sets being advertised each week by the TV show, and they're the sets that are going to sell the most.

£385. (around $560) But I only started collecting last year..

I have an Ahsoka from the AT-TE and the Starfighter, and I'm not noticing any of those changes. They both have the same colour legs, belts, and I'm unsure about the eyes but I'm pretty sure they're the same.

And to think I was disappointed with this years line up only this morning. The Drop Ship is a really cool looking set, unfortunately it's a little more than I'm willing to spend on something like this, but it's awesome none the less. The Endor set is cheaper than I was expecting though, and since I only recently starting collecting I don't have many OT sets, I'll definitely be getting that set along with the Home One which also looks really cool and has a great selection of mini-figs. The Y-wing also looks a lot better in these shots, I'm still disappointed that it comes with such a bland selection of mini figs though. Surely they could have just used Anakin OR Ahsoka along with a less common character?

I actually quite like the Millenium Falcon, it looks decent enough, although it is disappointing that it doesn't open up like the old one and the lack of any minifigs is baffling, I know it's not to scale, but come on.. Not even a Han and Chewie? I'll reserve judgement until we see the final model, but I think I'll be passing on that one. The Pirate Tank is pretty cool though, again I would have actually liked to get a Jar Jar, if only for comedic value but another Obi-Wan is fine, it's probably the only new set I will bother getting. (The Echo Base would have been great if the Hoth Base was still available, but I've been unable to find one anywhere)
-
I just got my Yoda set and I'm very pleased (although a little annoyed that they put up the Boba Fett pack right after I ordered, so I won't have that one for a few more days). It's a great way to expand your mini fig collection without having to buy the more expensive sets, and just to confirm once again, you can remove the legs, along with every other part, they're exactly the same as the normal minifigs, Dooku even has his cape. I'm hoping to see a set with Rex and the CW Obi-wan at some point, as those two are only available in the more expensive sets.
-
That's simply awesome. I didn't want to bother with the Republic shuttle or the Sailer (and I don't feel like splashing out for the AAT at this point), but I really wanted a Dooku and Mace minfig, this is a great alternative, and considering so many people by the sets just for the minifigs, this is really surprising, but I'd love to see it done more. Perhaps it'll reduce people looting the sets to sell on eBay.
-
Perhaps you should have actually read the topic while you bumped it? ;) The magnets are totally sepereate from them, the minifigs are exactly the same as the ones you get in the normal Lego sets.

Leaked reports say the next TT game is Lego Indy 2, and there was even a powerpoint presentation at the Toy Fair which explicitly showed that game, although it was taken down very swiftly. Although a Clone Wars game is inevitable, it won't be this year. Plus with a Lego Indy 2 coming, it only proves that there's no point in buying the games, until they release the "complete saga" editions.

How many of you noticed this?
Penitent Tangent replied to pr0visorak's topic in Culture & Multimedia
It's bacially the equivalent of holding a lightsaber "gangsta style". The fact both the Apprentice and Ahsoka use it seems to have been an attempt to make them cool, rather than it having any deep meaning or significance. -
I actually noticed that too, but they are only prelim pictures, I'm sure the new version will be with the final one.
-
The other sets so far have been pretty starved for minifigs, if it comes with that many it'll instantly be one of my favourite sets ever, but I think the rumours of it simply having Lando, Nien Nunb and Chewie are far more like, especially as Han already comes with two other sets. I'd love a C-3P0 though, I have hundreds of little R2's but no C-3P0, he doesn't come with anything these days. (couldn't tell if he's in the Endor set, but I don't think so)
-
Yeah, I definitely understand the reason for them doing this, and I certainly wasn't trying to complain and say we should have someone else, but the fact it is just those same three again does turn me off the set. Even having just one unique minifig there might have made it a little more appealing. Didn't they use that "Goldie" R2 unit in the Y-wing episodes?
-
Normally I'm more a fan of the Clone Wars sets, but I really don't find any of the new ones all that appealing.. Though I'd probably be a bigger fan of the Y-wing if it had a more original selection of mini-figs. The Venator is great, but as I already have the Star Destroyer it's not something I think I'll bother with, and again the choice of minifigs leaves something to be desired.. But the Echo Base and Endor sets are really amazing, can't wait to see what they've done with the Millenium Falcon.
-
I'm sure Obi-wan will be in another set soon, but I wouldn't be too sure about Plo or Asajj Ventress. I think the whole reason they don't do those smaller packs anymore is because they know people will pay more to get those big sets, just to get mini-figs like that. Kind of sad, but it's business..

7751 Ahsoka's Starfighter & Vulture Droid review
Penitent Tangent replied to mutley777's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I finally got mine, I won't bother with another full review, but I think it's also worth pointing out that Ahsoka's doesn't have the giant hole in the middle were R2 sits, it's filled in because it doesn't have the ejector mechanism (which was a bad idea, looked ugly and didn't work properly). I'll probably try and modify my Anakin one in the same way. Overall, I do like Ahsoka's a lot more, the colour scheme with the white makes it look much nicer than the dingy gray, and while some may not like the Astromech with the conflicting colour scheme, I think that really makes it stand out a lot, it's really cool. One thing I didn't understand though, is that the big white starburst pattern down the front of the ship is actually printed on, where as the little round Republic logo that was printed onto Anakins, is now a sticker, even though it's used in a lot of sets. Seems like an odd decisison. -
It's always fun coming here and seeing so many new posts, easy to tell when something big is going on. The venator looks fine to me, it does look a little chunky at the front, but that's probably because of the interior, which is really weak on the Star Destroyer, so if it means they've done something better with this one, it's fine by me. I have to critisise the choice of minifigs though, the guards or commando's/whatever are pretty cool and getting a Palpatine is nice as well, but the two random clones is very bizarre. Simply throwing in a Jedi, like Luminara as a few suggested before, would have made the set a lot more appealing.

Which Jedi, Sith or other do you want the most?
Penitent Tangent replied to darkrebellion's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Not sure if it's worth mentioning, but the 13th episode of Clone Wars is set to feature Aayla Secura, which at least boosts the chances of her appearing in a future set. -
Yeah, I was hoping the new Y-wing was going to include some of those more unique clones, but my hopes dropped once they announced it's Anakins Y-wing. Pretty obviously will just be those three, and after all they're the main characters and need to be included in at least one of the new sets..
