I am no master pirate builder, however I love that adventure diorama, so I would be extremely curious for a pirate themed one! First thing to do to make it more piraty is add beach, either yelllow or tan. I think beach + blue water + jungle behind the beach already brings you very close to a pirate themed background. I am guessing you are going to base it on the 2009 sets, as you seem crazy about them and are lucky enough to own them, so there won't be a need to add all the indian/native/islander like statues, already reducing your amozonian feel. Things you could add include buried treasures, raft building attempts, pirates stranded, 'sunken' ships, reefy rocks, etc, or you could go more into the PTV direction and go for 'cozy' villages being visited, pirates hanging from gallows etc.. Also swapping the crocodiles for sharks would make it a bit more salt watery.

CONTEST: Pillage the Village - Terms & Conditions
Lord King of Everything replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
I have a question about the image/picture limit of 6. If it has been asked before or is common knowledge, please accept my apologies. Theoretically if I would not need the full 800x600 for a single picture, but only for example 400x300, could I merge 4 of those smaller pictures into one image of 800x600 and only have it count as a single image or would that be seen as foul play? Oh and I personally am always charmed if someone shoots their MOC from an unintended angle. It requires quite a bit of skill and planning to make the entire MOC look good from only the single camera angle, leaving the rest in a tutti frutti mix. Showing other angles gives some insight in the planning process and what the limiting colors/bricks of the MOCer were, giving it some more personality. -
I really like the sails. The hairs on the skull are cute! Also great rock formation, did you really create it with the intention of making a gorilla shape? If so, great job! If not, guess you are lucky it turned out the way it did, it is really stunning. Only thing that makes me wonder is that rowing boat, which seems to be going the wrong way. It could ofcourse also be a native coming back to collect the body parts of his children? Or a native with a terrible eyesight and not too great hearing, noticing the slaughterparty a bit too late? Or maybe a special rowing technique ofcourse Oh and the mountain sheep is a nice touch, making it not only a tradegy for the rowing native, but also for that poor sheep having to witness the killing of his distant relatives.

Hmm I could not find this entry in the PTV forum. It was my favorite! Does this mean we cannot vote for it?

Which is the best sail colour scheme?
Lord King of Everything replied to Captain Zuloo's topic in LEGO Pirates
Blue and white, it always reminds me of Obelix! Don't know if that is a good thing, but at least it makes me smile. I'd like completely blank sails as well, I think it would look best. -
Hey all, thanks for the replies, I will continue building next week, as I have to prepare for some job interviews this week It is always such a hassle to stall out all my lego containers, so I don't start building building unless I can build a few hours straight. I have indeed decided to put the front mast back a bit and increase the sail size. Switching the sails looked a bit akward, as the backsail needs to be quite big to look ok. Oh and the stern is not yet completely finished so I will post pictures of that when I complete the MOC.

I removed the topsection of the backsail and lowered it two bricks. I have the feeling it looks better. For increasing the size of the frontsail, I might have to remove the front mast (which is now visible due to a flashy light).

I own the Caribbean Clipper and tried to use sails with the approximately the same size, but the ship is quite a bit larger, so it did not look right and I put an additional layer of sails on top, to make the masts a bit higher. I might try looking through that index for some triangular shaped ones. I most certainly will! It is just easier to cut them from paper for deciding on the size. There won't be too much action. I am going to make a long row of prisoners taken while 'pillaging' and them having to walk the plank being 'gifted' to King Kahukas sea monster. I already made the basic shape of the monster and still need to make a rock formation sticking out of some water. I don't have much blue though, so I am still in doubt whether to use regular blue or take all the darkblue panels and roofpieces from the big agent truck. And well the ship should contain escaping prisoners who meet sharks and some prisoners who did not behave correctly and undergo some sort of 'pre' punishment. But first I want to get those sails right EDIT: Missed your post Grevious I agree with you about the stern. however, you give the one option I hoped to be able to avoid Removing the top part of that mast (including that tiny sail) would lower it by 7 bricks, so maybe I'll just do that. It does make the balance between the main masts and the rear mast better looking.

Well this is the Lord King of Everything speaking, This name might sound a bit arrogant, but that is how I always felt when playing with my Lego world. Having the power to terribly mutilate the entire poppulance, killing all the men (I had no children and only 2 or 3 women, who I never allowed to live in the first place) and raising them to live once more. My supreme reign (shared with my brothers) lasted from when I was about 3 years old till my 14th year of life. At a dark day my father decided I was too old for lego and should start drinking and go out more. My lego cupboard became a coffin and a lid was nailed on it. The coffin was locked away somewhere in the back of my brothers room. Fast forward in time... (about 6-7 years) So my girlfriend asked one beautiful day what I would want for my birthday. I really couldn't think of anything. Then I remembered the feeling of when I was a kid, when each present I got was always lego and what a great thrill it always gave when I opened the wrapping paper and tried to rip apart the box as fast as possible to get to the shiny new and unchewed content. So I said to her, I want a lego castle for my brithday (having no idea in what kind of sad state lego castle was at that time). She looked at me weird, but then again I ask weird stuff all the time . She bought the castle of Morcia for me and well when I teared apart the wrapping paper I was filled with such an awsome nostalgic and semisad/semihappy feeling, I knew i had to have more of that. The castle wasn't great, however I did have fun with the combination of those hippie knights and 'poisonous' scorpions. My next birthday i asked for another castle and got the Kings castle siege, I loved this and made my girlfriend to buy more for me and bought castle lego myself too. In august I finished my study and I am now looking for a job so have unlimited time at my hands. I decided to open the old coffin. I was quite shocked at the state of it all. After spending two weeks washing everything, I was still left with a huge pile of yellowed lego full of toothmarks and faded prints. After this it became clear i could never be as tirannous to those poor legomen as I was when I was a kid, I am giving them a nice peaceful retirement in my display cabinet (and maybe sell the really abused ones as used lego on some auction site ) I decided to look on the internet if those old sets still existed and came along this really nice site. I lurked it for a while and decided to join in, I'll keep on lurking but will post some stuff too.

Blue Coats, Red Coats, or Green Coats
Lord King of Everything replied to Piranha's topic in LEGO Pirates
Or maybe their looks have not been a reason for kids to use them to experiment with matches, fireworks and powertools or use them as pet toys. I agree about the brown boats though, I think the only reason the red boat was ever designed, was because it looked good with the blue soldier. They should have made all boats (pirate and soldier) brown. Since they nearly all come with a flag anyway its not hard to tell who is who. Some redcoat sets had red boats though (eww!). -
Blue Coats, Red Coats, or Green Coats
Lord King of Everything replied to Piranha's topic in LEGO Pirates
Well the blue guys just jump in the water and turn completely invisible (as someone already pointed out a year ago ), while those red guys are stuck on their little boats trying to hide under the seats. Another thing I don't like about the red enemies of the pirates is that they seem to brainwash pirates to work for them as slaves for rowing boats and carrying treasures. The blue force seems to be more civilized. And oooof I had to think a while what LKOE meant, CZ -

The blue soldiers look better in their red boats, a red guy in a red boat is not the way to go! I voted blue. -
Would you open a MISB SYSTEM Pirate set?
Lord King of Everything replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I partly agree with Guss, I however don't see them as dead bricks, more like unborn bricks. Dead bricks are bricks that have been disposed in the garbage. It is only a difference of opinion that some feel the bricks are already alive 'in the box' and others feel they are not . The birth of a brick is the most thrilling moment for me. Ripping apart the box is the best feeling in the world. If I would start buying old sets, I would always try to get them MISB. I like being the one to give the bricks their first scars. -
The minedefender... 3.0!
Lord King of Everything replied to Dwarvenlord's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Definitely good work! I like the looks of it and well, as I hate that catapult piece, it is a certain upgrade of the minedefender 1.0. The increased number of blades also makes it look less flimsy and thus more likely for a troll to not find its way between those blades unharmed/missing only a few limbs. Only problem now is that when doing a new MOC, you keep meeting that dreaded catapultpiece again in your sortingsystem. I prefer to have them in my display cabinet out of view behind some castle wall or something. -
Greetings,..

YES!, I knew I got the right name! Good feelings everywhere. Thanks guys, I already know I will have a good time -
I like this, especially the skeleton tied to the roof, which indicates clear intentional and unneccesary violence. I love thinking about how he (I think the hat is mostly used for males) ended up there. Maybe his eyelids were torn off to force him to look up into the sun all day, becoming very painful. Being in this state for a few days after which he slowly dried out, getting thin enough to nearly escape, but then sadly hanging himself in the process. Love it! One minor problem would be the door, at first I kept thinking it was the doormat. Maybe you can make it look more like a rammed in door if you leave small pieces of wood still on the hinges, this would however probably be hard to make nicely as you used that beautiful print. Or maybe I am wrong and it is not meant to be a rammed door.
