  1. Uh.. If only the blade could be tilted... But, looking at picture I guess it's not tilting .
  2. I didn't say it does have a suspension parts.
  3. Well, those H2 sets are definitely targeted at newcomers of "big technic". 42030 Front loader has almost everything (well, except pneumatics and suspension parts, but this is where 42029 takes off) that new AFOL could wish in one pack: 2 IR contolers and recievers, 4 different types of motors, 3 LA's, big Unimog tyres, a new gorgeous Volvo bucket. 42029 Custom Truck handles the rest of parts required for TT or other wheeled disciplines: suspension parts, shock absorbers, lots of red panels. If only I didn't have 8297, 8258, 8043, 8110 (well.. no, I'll keep 8110 :) ), I would 100% buy those two sets. I think company does everything right: they gave us 8297, 8258, 8043, 8110, 9398, 42009. But since they can't invent a wheel every year and they have to give something to them (newcomers), they have to recycle some of ideas by summing previous achievements and putting them into 42029 and 42030...
  4. Nice and very detailed examination of clones (and quite wide range of them), thanx for info . Buy the way, if some one's interested, I've done a review of.. PF-racer fake on our russian DoubleBrick: http://www.doublebri...php?f=7&t=47359 - use google translate for text. I've checked it and it's quite understandable (except for google's translation "100 USD" - it's actually 100 UAH (13 USD) )
  5. Anio, as always, good and informative video. And I've seen that model is also good (well, except lack of cluch for boom mechanics)... So, from me it definetly gets atleast 4 / 5 (til I'll get my hands on it). P.S. No way, you say ? Oh, sorry, that would be.. abominable .. But still, what's wrong with combining LA's and pneumatics?
  6. Well, judging by the fact that the reviewer didn't like this tow truck from the very first glance, it's clear that review is somewhat little biased and we need atleast a few more independent examinations . Visual design is nice and.. GREEN. Inventory is rich. Functions are numerous. Yes, they may not all work well, but they still do work as intended. It just suffers from it's universality (like any other universal model/set), but this can't make it a bad set. In sum: good look + great inventory + many functions - partially not so good performance = only 3/5???.. Definetly not 5/5, but from what I've seen in review it could be atleast 4/5.. Let's compare it with analog - 9397: why such functionally unfinished model had 5/5? No doubts it would deserve it if the claw wasn't manual, but as it is - only 4/5 IMHO.
  7. That 8-tooth gear under 42009`s boom, I wonder if it's there just to increase friction.. Meh, yea, the blue axle-pin connector is seen.. But, maybe there is another gear not visible on any picture?
  8. I prefer to build alternative models of small sets. It's because I don't have much time and effort to build models from all parts available to me. Also such restraint like a definite set of parts makes a challenge. So, I took my favourite little technic set, 8296 and tried to squeeze all potential from its parts. All models use only regular parts from list and no provided spare parts. I've tried to give them as much functions and detail and also use as much parts as possible. The result of my work is below. 1) Roadster The idea was to build a car with "classic" layout: front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout. This model has: - front wheel steering via steering wheel in the cabin; - transverse L2 front engine, which drives rear wheels (yeah, I know, it's actually vice versa); - suspended rear axle. http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=415607 2) Motorcycle Idea is simple - motorcycle with working engine and suspention Here we have: - stearable front fork (obviously); - transverse V2 engine, which drives rear wheel via.. cardan joint (that's how they call it); - rear wheel suspension; - retractable stand. http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=422397 3) Combine Harvester 2 big wheels and 2 small.. If I'll place 2 bigger ones in front and 2 smaller in rear I'll get.. a harvesting machine! I've spent entire sleepless night to make it working and look right.. And that's what it has - rotating front tool, driven by right wheel; - rear wheel stearing; - working 1-piston engine. http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=522092 -------------------------------------------------------------------- So, I'm done with this set, don't know what more to build from it's parts.. Hope you enjoy those models..
  9. 8049 has good B-model. Actually, it's more fun to play with it than with main model.
  10. Must disappoint you both, tires on this F1 are much like 44777, they are somewhat molded in hub, I couldn't remove them from hubs, besides they look more like plastic than rubber and they don't smell.
  11. Yeah, such incest would be problematic, some fake technic details look abolutely like original, but are, for example, 0.01 mm wider, so they will just stuck in place.. Well, I currently hold one of them in my hands and I must say that quality of all parts themself is pretty nice, and "PF-F" elements actually work as intended, but.. I, guess I have to make a review of it to make all things clear. Not in this thread, because this isn't technic It's a copy of 8183s alternative model. Let's say, it's like a Chinese and.. again Chinese (this time genuine) iphone...
  12. I have many of those fakes http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=4708847 8418 http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=4708848 8270 http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=4708849 8419 http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=4708851 8433 http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=4708854 8674 http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=4708857 Also I have "BELA" 8289 and 8653 The quality of parts is sometimes appaling and building process may become a torture, but atleast they look and work normaly when assembled. About parts: - the worst are connestors-axeles (worst pair, axeles often stuck to death in connector) and beams (badly molded, some pins fall out, others stuck hard), all pins have burrs (can be easly removed with file, on all of 200-300 pins ); - tires and treads had some nasty odour, which somewhat depleted with time; - panels, thin liftarms, flexible axeles and rare parts(not all of them) are of much better quality, shock absorbers from 8674 are completely black. - classic and technic bricks, usual plates are normal But, what else do you get for price 5-8х lower than the original ? In other words, it's OK for display (for example, I'm going to keep Fire Truck), but for parts or play.. better stay away. Atleast from Bela. There are much more fakes today and some of them are higher quality than those I have. Also, it's not Technic, but anyway, recently I've found a PF-fake set !!
  13. Heh, to live in center of Europe and till now not to be registered here - now that's a nonsense.. Well then, hello to all EB community! I'm Eugen, age 24. I'm familiar with lego since kindergarten, but only in 1997 I gained my first set (8230). Then there were a few more sets in following years, but near 2000 the Dark Age has arrived, and after 2000, when there were nothing new in my favourite themes (town and technic), my little collection stopped growing and all remnants were hidden far away.. Long after that, there was nothing new in my hands except some fake copies of ancient system sets, but growing internet at least gave opportunity to follow news. I've seen that Dark Age ended long ago, but I wasn't enough interested without holding something in my hands. Sometime in 2007 I was lurking for something on market and found this http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=4708849 And it was this fake technic that finally returned me to old hobby, both because of bad quality of itself and because it still worked well when assembled and it showed me that technic indeed is alive! After that till 2009 there were few set purchases in local stores with 2x high prices , also the choise of sets wasn't that big.. But then.. there was (and currently still is) BrickLink , that gave me all I have now (+ a ton of various parts) http://www.brickset....?OwnedBy=Wraith Although I'm collecting mostly Technic I still don't forget about classic bricks . Currently I don't do any MOCs, because I just don't have time for this. Only exception is alternative models, and it's my favourite discipline. So, I'm here mostly to share thoughts about sets and MOCs and sometime to show something self-made.
  14. He he, the Unimog is in my hands for over a 6 months now and i still haven't opened it (like some other flagmans in past few years). This set is so diverse, it has everything i always wanted - full suspension, pneumatics, electical parts (even if there is just a M-motor). And it's big and orange (not yellow or red, thank god!). So, looking forward to finally get my hands on it soon..
