Build a frigate with Captain Green Hair
RocketSeason replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
I use the inverted slope on my brig and quite like the look. Then again, I am going for a fat, squat, looking ship anyway. -
BRAND NEW UPDATES AT POST 28! (PAGE 2) Hello all, Her name is The City of Roses. She is an 8 gun Brigantine ship being built to the specifications of Captain Matthew Foster, the famous English Privateer. I started working on a ship a while back when the new pirates line was announced, but the small hulls she originally had just weren't doing it for me. After getting a hold of the new Brickbeards Bounty, I finally had all the pieces needed to make my own Brig. My plan is to create a ship with lots of interior details and playability, as well as being fairly accurate to how a Brig actually looked. A challenge for sure. The tumblehome has proven to be pretty tough. I wanted to build something that felt real solid, yet would still look good from the inside. I think I was successful there. With only three middle hull sections, its pretty short, but I really like the squat and fat look of sir Nadroj's ship, and I hope to replicate a similar overall feel with my ship. I will continue to post updated shots as I get them done. This ship will take a while for me to build, so be patient with me. More photos can be seen on my flickr page. Thanks! -Captain Matt

Every Pirate Diorama needs a rat. Great stuff!
-
Yeah, yeah it really is. Still very very impressive and inspirational.
-
Very cool! Looks like lots of room for playability as well!
-
I am in love. And I also love how you sunk the ships wheel into the deck. very clever.

New Vietnamese member - plus ship MOC!
RocketSeason replied to tommyboy241991's topic in Pirate MOCs
Hello! Welcome aboard. I see your ship has survived a rather severe dust storm recently. -
Don't trust the parrot! Kill it!
-
Yup. Fully decked out with all the luxuries afforded to a ship's captain.
-
Great Idea! I think I will take your suggestion! I would like to do the same with the sides. We will see. It may be a bit of a trade-off between getting it nice and curvy, and allowing for a nice size interior for details.
-
I figure a ship like The City of Roses needs all of the re-enforcement she can get seeing as how she is expected to see battle quite often!
-
Remember that this is preliminary box art. The final figures may change. And also, it's not a swordfish. Looks more like a sawtooth shark Much like the shark from the old sets. Very cool though! I hope to see some great pieces in here. (and hopefully a hint at things to come.)

Suprisingly enough, it was Brickbeards Bounty.

I took her outside to grab one last picture for you guys. This one shows off her overall shape.

Alright gang, You asked for it, you get it! New pictures of the almost completed City of Roses. The English are hard at work at the shipyards ensuring that their navy stays larger than the French. I have been building and re-building her for months now. Just trying to get her looking as accurate as possible while still retaining that great LEGO look and feel. She was 4 midsections long for a while, but I cut it down to three to keep it looking smaller in comparison to some of the frigates that you guys have been building. I also added 2 more gun ports to bring her total number of cannon up to a solid 10. I have tried my best to make her as unique as possible, but no matter what I did, It never looked quite right, so naturally, I stole a lot of building techniques from some of the amazing ships I've seen on these boards. (Particularly Captain Green Hair. He seems to have mastered the art of LEGO ship building) I must say, I am really in love with this boat. This beauty is full of fantastic details! The interior will also be highly detailed with a Captains Quarters, Ward Room, Gun Deck, Galley, sick bay, 2 holds, an armory and other great interior details. All of these will be accessible via 6 lift out sections and 3 fold out sections. (I love interiors) Below you can see through the unfinished fo'csle and down into the Galley. This build has taken so long, Captain Matthew Foster has gotten old, grown a beard, and become rather cranky. All he wants to do is get out there on those high seas and rid those waters of Pirates, the French, and any other scum he happens across. Besides the interior, I still need to finish out the masts and rigging. (That's the hard part.) then I plan to beg Captain Green Hair to make me some of his fantastic sails. After that, who knows? Probably a few comics. I love reading LEGO comics. Be sure to check out my flickr photo set for detailed notes on the pictures. Hope you enjoy!
-
Actually I am VERY close to being done with it. (minus the sails of course) I have been meaning to take some pictures for a while now, but I lost my card reader for my camera. I think I am gong to stop by work today and grab the D5 so I can get some nice high quality pictures for all of you.

quick question, How do these novels compare to the Patrick O'Brian "Jack Aubrey Series"
-
Very cool! Looks like the English have a new ship-of-the-line to add to their ranks! Your rigging is very nice. I am in the middle of that process right now and I just find the whole thing confusing.

WIP - My first MOC to be posted. "The Black Dagger"
RocketSeason replied to martinsuper's topic in Pirate MOCs
You can post the smaller images by clicking on the "all Sizes" button and choose the medium size image. Then Right click and copy link location. This looks good! I love the unique look of the boat. It looks very fast and very dangerous. You have a very cool pirate faction going on here indeed. -
This is fun! The Cabins look real cozy.
-
An Islander on a shark. My god. No one is safe from them now!

A truely frightening MOC. Great torsos. Great altar. Makes a man think twice before sailing to far south.
