Lets hope for it! In general I wish for some non-clone Republic military/security personell: - Senate Guard in various versions - Coruscant Police (droids, UGP, Tan Divo) - Mandalorians (Police, Royal Guard etc.) - Republic Navy Personell (young Tarkin e.g.) - more Naboo Security Forces I know the kids like the clones, but well...

Interesting, is there any specifc one you have in mind? I have not followed closely the Star Wars sets until recently.
-
I think the new Royal Guards are a lot better than the old, including the weapons, especially compared to the screen original: http://static3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080505025345/starwars/images/2/28/RoyalGuardForcePike-BTM.jpg The DSGs are of course perfect. Even as a staunch Rebel, I could not resist buying that set.

I have been a fan of all the last Tolkien-themed waves, but this one is just a let-down for me. Maybe it changes when I see the movie (Friday), but so far there is very little appeal to me. Only the brown warg is cute, but then I love wargs - so it is a must-buy anyway. Foremost I miss a low priced two figure set like "Riddles" or the excellent "Wizard Battle". Since there are so many dwarves and collecting them is very expansive, such a set would have come in handy. I have a large Lego budget but at times these little sets are what I need.

You're welcome. I think they are worth the wait.

To be honest, the wishlists of most people here are far more optimistic. The list has just the real amount a few new molds (Eowyn's helmet, Witch King's helmet, perhaps Gondor helmet), a lot compromises (lots of new prints re-using of figures). Other than that, I admit the list looks pretty much like a best of wishes (Gondor, Eowyn), but on the other hand, it is about time we see Gondor. Do you really think there will be yet another wave without Gondorian soldiers? The general direction of the list seems ok.
-
No, it is Berlin, Germany. Close to Lego's home And even here they did stress a lot that it is a Lego Store exclusive offer.
-
If this 2014 list is true, I will be happy. Eowyn!!! All I need to complete my Rohan, and a cool new helmet design. I hope the "Nazgul" is the Witch King, and that Theoden has hair (as he lost his helmet in the movie), maybe even horse armour for Snowmane. This line up has potential, and I too think there is the chance it is real.

It does not seem very popular, but I too would like to see some Senate themed sets - at least the duel between Palpatine and Yoda. But what I really look for is the Senate Guard, preferably the one from TPM. Sadly noone but me will like them, certainly not the kids. Atm, I would be happy about a re-release of the Senate Commandos. Also, with the new Police Gunship, the Coruscant Police is on my list, but with the demise of the Clone Wars series there is little hope. Same goes for the Mandalorian Police and Royal Guards.

I have been to the Lego-store today and saw the whole new 2014-line up. Having bought a few sets, I can agree that the new blasters are not exactly what one may wish for. However they sport a distinctly unmilitary look which is important as Lego is critizied for being too militaristic these days... Overall I like most builds but the minifig selection could have been better. Why does the police gunship e.g. come without, well, police men? The Underworld Police shown in the same episode like the police gunship would have been so much better. The Shock Troopers probably sell better. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Coruscant_Underworld_Police The DSG are cleary the high light in terms of minifigs.

Me too, although a two piece solution would be more flexible. And I agree that Lego will have to address the issue when it comes to the 5-army-battle... Lego so far has not made any beards to be worn in combatination with plate armour, that is the problem. But sooner or later, they must, unless we are to go with underarmoured dwarves...
-
Thanks! Can't say it is my fav figure, but still... Is it possible that Lego recently is using new molds far more liberal than in the past (think about the Mouth of Sauron's helm)?

Unless I forgot a big deal, there were no beards that would fit over plate armour. To clarify what I am talking about: I would like to do this: http://oi50.tinypic.com/2emimpg.jpg Therefore I need armour like this: http://www.brickset.com/parts/?part=4611881 And a beard like these: http://www.brickset.com/parts/?part=4518470 http://www.brickset.com/parts/?part=6002819 http://www.brickset.com/parts/?part=4518468 However, armour and beard do not fit together. As I mentioned before I would very much like a beard that can be fitted over (physical) armour, not just a beard over a torso (with printed armour). This would not only be useful for LotR/Hobbit, but also generally for historical&fantastic themes.
-
To be honest, other than some Gondor sets and Eowyn there is really only one thing I miss badly: I want armoured dwarves! With long filthy beards over heavy plate armour and real warhammers. They would rock so much. (A beard to fit over plate armour is needed anyway and would be useful for many themes, not just Tolkien).

I really blows that we have to wait for these sets until september in my country Yes, there is LotR available, but that is not the same...

[MOC] Rohirrim palace with eagle's nest

Brilliant! I love all the details, especially the gate. -
This would be great indeed! Unfortunately I fear that Tolkien may not be big enough for such a line. Every kid wants a clone trooper, but what about a Gondorian? Also, the miniature might be tricky - a mini-Gondor? I am all for this idea but I am not sure if it works out...
-
Cool! his may incite me to buy the castle yet...
-
Great! Makes me wish there were more ruinious builds...
-
Thanks for the info! Modularity seems to be a great plus for just about everything... After all, sticking together different bricks to build a bigger one is pretty much what Lego is about. :)

The brilliant lighting is the icing on the cake!

No, same here. The only selling point of a prologue set would be Sauron - and the major trick about the Ring and Sauron in LotR is to have a non-corporal evil and to describe the struggles against it. Sure I would not be sad to have a prologue Sauron, but I can think of a dozen characters more important, most of all the Witch-King. And the Witch-King and Sauron would be rather similar in Lego design.

One hardly needs to be an expert on the source material to like a Lego-set. In fact, it is often enough for most people to have watched the movies once in cinema (and occasionally again on TV) and if they like a movie themed set, why not buy it? (And since you have it already, review it). I for one bought a Lego Batman set (76000), even though I neither read any comic nor watch the cartoons. I think I saw the last two movies, but the set is unrelated to them iirc. I just happened to like it: interesting vehicle, cool parts and story. Actually, I believe that the casual buyers who may not know how to properly pronounce Sauron are far more important than us few nerds.

MOC: Nordertor Flensburg, Germany anno 1900
Flieger replied to gerkenz's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Really nice! Wish there were more real life MOCs... Looks like halfway close to life size. Do you plan on adding minifigs maybe? -
The Robin Hood movie's boats were inspired by WWII as well, so it is not surprising the come out similar... I really like the overall image, especially the warmaschine on the top tower, and I have only a few comments or question: - the defenders on the shore seem a little suicidal, since there is no possible retreat for them. Is this intended? - the Viking people look a little out of place among the otherwise fairly uniform defenders (btw. I like the uniforms!). Are they the Garim? Sorry, I am not familiar with the story... - since this is D-Day inspired, what about some barricades on the shore (wooden instead of steel)? Would it be too crowded then?
