I daresay all of them have a lot more screentime than the blick-and-you-miss-them Airborne Troopers in one movie - especially the Death Star Troopers (Navy Trooper actually...) which could be seen quite a lot all the OT-movies, be it in firefights on the Death Star and Endor, guarding some room (they form Tarkin's guard e.g.), or carrying away an officer Vader choked to to death. And the Clone Pilots were featured heavily in the Clone Wars, just think about the Malevolence attack, unless you refer to the newer incarnations. So, I agree with you that the Airborne Troopers are there for the clone loving army builders, which make up a large part of the Lego Star Wars fans - sadly, imho, since I would prefer characters like Bail Organa or Mas Amedda. But they are not "action-y" enough. I perfectly understand that reasoning, I'd probably do the same if I ran Lego, but I still don't like it.

We have a lot Snowspeeders by now and the last one is from this year... I would like the Y-Wing as well, but the last one is from 2012. Not sure if that is enough time. I definetly miss Davish Krail. What I am missing more though is a Clone Wars Y-Wing. The last one is very old (2009) and we do not have a regular red highlighted Y-Wing.

Same here! What is the problem Fordo? They even gave the legs of the Airborne Troopers asymetrical printing to match the arms. This is rather detailed imo. I'd would question the rationale to create a new mold for this helmet, since the Airbornes don't have much screentime. And with the demise of the Clone Wars, they won't get any more.

Excellent! Funny and well build, even though I would not have given Anni's hair to Boba.

Thank you, I did not knew that! I actually intended this for the holoprojector in Palpatine's office, so this one is kind of out... but hopefully Lego will release some translucent minifigs, or better: a translucent microfigure (love those). -
When it comes to Lego, I am more of a PT-fan despite my age, but still yes: the Gunners are great and the pack would have been even greater with the Death Star Troopers. Nonetheless, since I missed the early sets with the Royal Guards and do not have the money (or space) for the DS, this set was a great opportunity getting them. And since they have more screentime in the PT and furthermore appear in the Clone Wars series, this set is well suited for PT-fans too. My guards are standing in Palpatine's office now.

That was the Senate Commando, a special forces unit of the Senate Guard. It was also released with a Venator set and a magnet set. They are cool and I have them, of course, but they are more the down-to-earth business soldiers, rather than the ceremonial guard with their long robes and ancient rifles. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Senate_Commando Here you see Senate Guard and Senate Commando side by side: In E.3 the Senate Guard also had a slight redesign of the helmet, removing the crest and adding visor, and yet another version was presented later in the Clone Wars (when they had the budget for robes...).

Yes, but if I really want a set, like the Death Star Troopers, I am ready to pay a little more - just not for the average battle pack. For those I would like a much lower price.
-
Sadly, the Red Guard/Royal Guard would be more appropriate to this set then the Senate Guard, which I want to see the most. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Senate_Guard http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Red_Guard Sadly, the Senate Guard being the good guys standing behind a bland Chancellor never made the same impact like the Royal Guard being the evil guys standing behind the dreaded Emperor... But I still do not give up my hopes to finally see the Senate Guard.

I am afraid most scenes are pretty graphic, but I never quite understood Lego's stance on that. What I would like to see is a set on Ki-Adi Mundi and the Galactic Marines. @ EpicRunner, Yodas Hut would be nice! But I would rather think of a larger set like Bilbo's house. After all, we may have the chance to recreate it almost up to scale. @ Sir Brickalot, As it has been said before, the Tuskens and Jawas need a revisit. And I also like the Hoth Ion Cannon idea although I would rather give it a Rebel fire control team. A dreamset of mine that will not happen: - The Zillo Beast: H2 Executive Shuttle with Senate Commando, Palpatine, Padme, Anakin and perhaps R2 and C3PO, and - the highlight - the brickbuild Zillo beast

Very well, there is quite some power for such a small mechanism and I lost a few studs...

Are there any holographic minifigs or something that can be used as such? -
I hope so too, but let us not forget that the Royal Guards have some Ep.2 and Ep.3-appearances as well, not to mention the Clone Wars Season 5, doing at least as much as in Ep.6... In fact, it may also be connected to this, if it is true: After all, in this scene, they at least attempt to do something. My 2014-Royal Guards have found their place in Palpatine's office, guarding the door, and they are looking extremely nice there with all the red around them. Thanks for remembering on SWR, I had forgotten that. Considering the wealth of confirmed characters, Lego will have a hard time doing them all. But it is a chance too, since SWR includes some CW-characters that Lego never made like Lux Bontheri or Bail Organa.

Thanks! So, how does it look like? Is it worth it?

Nice, always good to see GoT-mocs.

Well, indeed, the scene is about two unlikely persons succeeding where the greatest warriors of their time had failed. However I can see Theoden included for Snowmane with movie armour alone. The problem is that it would create a too nice set when it comes to minifigs: the Witch King is the number one villian, a massive selling point. Theoden is also a selling point since not everyone got Helm's Deep. When you add Eowyn in armour, which is probably an exclusive, and Merry in armour, another exclusive, you have at least two if not three exclusives and one hard to get figure in one single set. Unless we see the Witch King in another set as well I see little chance this will happen.
-
Indeed that is a nice idea, and I can imagine it is a good solution for TLG as well. Combined with battle packs like the Urukhai-army including further parts adding to the sets. The problem would be the combination must work and they must work for themselves. Which is difficult to pull off.
-
Sorry, but how does it combine with the DGA? I have neither set. (And I have no intention to buy them yet for my budget is done for, but maybe when on sale. Radagast and Azog are some mighty incentives, and the set itself is nice, although I would have liked a bigger DG better)

I would love more Tuskens, but this scene may be too gritty for Lego. After all, in this scene a tortured woman dies and her son commits a horrible massacre - not exactly Lego stuff, even if they got darker in the last years.
-
Excellent stuff, can't wait to see ships landing on it.
-
I understand, that is true, although the A-Wing is imo a particulary special example: the pilot is mandatory, but why not various Rebel technicians, soldiers and officers? It worked for the Tie-Fighter, didn't it? This set included the pilot, an officer, a trooper and droid. Perfect, imo. The Vulture could have come with other droids, or a Neimodian captain we see on CIS ships. In combination with the captain the Neimodian guard would almost be sensible...
-
Thanks for the review. I must admit that the Neimodian is the only reason why I like this set a bit. However it is an odd choice to include it with a droid fighter. He would have been better with a Neimodian craft obviously, or in a Mustafa scene. I wonder what took Lego so long giving us this warrior anyway, as it does not require a new mold (and I think the conquistador-pieces are a perfect fit).

Nice review! Recently I got this set with a 25% discount, which is nice. I think if you like the minifigs, then it is a good deal. The problem with the set is not the design, imo, but that it looks like a much less expensive set. All the elements of the office are beautifully done though, and it can be easily expanded via pins. I plan on adding some Sith art panels (once I figure out how to build them). With the newly released 2014-Royal Guards at the entrance the office looks even better. The real selling points are the minifigs, it seems, but I am not a fan of the Jedi. Even so, I realize why people rate them so high. It is not often that you have all the characters needed to recreate the scene in the set. My only gripe is with Palpatine, who only has to angry battle faces. A calmer business face would have been more useful for other scenes. In the end I think the set is not worth the original price tag, but it is a good deal with some discount.

When thinking Naboo, the AotC pilots would be nice, too... I am wondering: are kids really so clone crazed? Is the Senate Guard or the Police not cool enough? It seems telling that even the police gunship is for some reason manned by a clone trooper. Sounds great to me. The LotR-Wizard Battle had the same design and worked very well imo. Nice!

And it is a surprisingly complex build considering how small the ship is, and it is fun. Of course, the main attraction is the pilot, the best X-Wing pilot up to date - amazing print details. That is what I did.
