Yeah, a lot of my purchases are motivated by what I am watching at the time. TMNT was the big one for the past few months, but the Lone Ranger sets came along and now Stockman's Mech and Shredder's Cycle are on the shelf waiting for their turn. I find that I have been doing that a lot this year. Buying sets but running out of time to build them so the just pile up.

So my stagecoach set and battlepack both came in via Wal-Mart today. I am kicking myself for not ordering the train set as well, but I am sitting on a bunch of rewards for K-Mart and it would be much cheaper for me to wait until they get it in. Here's hoping for a night of new Lego while watching 3:10 to Yuma for ambiance. Oh, and well played to the the Eurobricks staff. For a moment I forgot that it was April 1st when I saw the new banner. Bloody Americans, taking everything over. Wait....

Nice review J2G! Shame about your boxes being smashed up. That's one of the biggest reasons why I hate having Lego shipped to my house. But I couldn't hold off on ordering a few of the sets any longer. If you have the mine set, I would love to see a video review on it.

zylek, I love the idea of Bard's boat. I know Lego likes to have some sort of conflict in their action sets so I wonder if the boat would become a reality since the dwarves aren't really fighting anyone at that time. Perhaps they could toss in the Master of Laketown in the set and Bilbo could have a slap fight with him?

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

That new gun would be perfect for Star-Lord from the Guardians of the Galaxy! -
I am one of the few who too liked the Clone Wars faces over the regular ones. I wonder if the cancellation of the show will drive up the after-market prices of some of the older CW sets. I am already regretting passing on several which I did because I assumed that there would be a few years left of the CW to air. Now its going to be harder to get some of those figures that I was hoping would pop up in later sets. Here's hoping for a few more sets this year.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
djmangunz replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
FRAK! I read the announcement on my lunch break and have been bummed about it since then. Here’s some unfortunate news for fans of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It looks like Lucasfilm has plans to wind down the animated series after five successful seasons. No new episodes will be produced for Cartoon Network, but some story arcs are being developed and will be available elsewhere as bonus material. That sounds like the show is ending to me. I think they will air a Clone War special or two on Disney XD. Perhaps combine a few of the arcs and make a TV movie out of it. I don't see Disney putting anything out that doesn't point towards episode 7. Although they did mention a new animated series, which I would imagine would be the replacement for Clone Wars. The press announcement said that the new show would cover material never before touched upon in the Star Wars universe. Which means my faint hope of a Old Republic show would be out. Not sure they could cover that is new, it seems the EU has touched upon every possible timeline. I hope that we will see what the Chancellor has planned for Maul and some closure with the Mandos. And it would be nice to see what happens with Ahsoka in the next chapter of her life. I have become surprisingly attached to that character. I also hope we will still get some Clone Wars sets for this winter's wave since Lego plans out their line far in advance. But it is disappointing if the show is ending because I think of so much they could do with it. And I really wanted to see Gree in Phase II armor. -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion

A nice 5 page interview with Dave Filoni about season 5 and some vague ideas about season 6. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/03/07/star-wars-the-clone-wars-supervising-director-dave-filonis-season-5-wrap-up-discussion A few of the more interesting tidbits were Dave talking about the possibility of having Republic Commandos in full force: You know, we’ve toyed with it, and I’ve brought it up from time to time, but we never fully committed to doing a big arc with the Commandos. We have experimented with special ops types of clones. There’s stuff in the works, but I would say that it almost goes beyond what you think of as general Republic Commandos, but it’s definitely in the vein of that. I don’t like to promise stuff that we’re not going to deliver. And another bit about something we were just talking about, the idea of Asajj Ventress and Ahsoka Tano working together: I always find that really interesting. I wanted to get the two of them interacting, because they hadn’t really done so in a long time. I had noticed a lot of parallels between them, which I thought we could really exploit in our story. It’s come up, and it’s something that I’m interested in. The best thing about losing your lightsaber is you gotta try to get a new one, so who knows what color blade they’ll get at this point, if they get one. The one thing that still sets the original Clone Wars apart from this version for me was the chapter where the ARC troopers use the Gunship to rescue Ki-Adi-Mundi and friends from Grevious. Dave needs to take a group of special ops clones and show them in action without the help of the Jedi. And not just some fan service hat tipping like the Republic Commandos in season 4, a full-out 3 part arc with nothing but special ops clones. Another thing about the old show is that it made the Republic Gunship cool. That Rancor nose art on the LAAT was one of the coolest things I have seen in any Star Wars media. They have the chance to do something equally fantastic with one of the current vehicles they have on this show. The Juggernaut for example, have a entire episode about a mission in the Turbo Tank. Or the new Police Gunship would be another idea. A group of shock troopers rocking around in the Gunship while hunting down a dangerous fugitive. Wait... shit, they already did that one.... -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion

I finally caught up with season 4 and 5 this past weekend. After the, IMO, disastrous season 3 I took a two year hiatus from the show. After watching the last eight episodes of season 5, I am glad I took the time to catch up. The Mando battle among the rooftops of the city and Ahsoka evading the Shock Troopers and the LAAT/i and Police Gunships were two of the best action scenes from the show period. I am looking forward to see what they have in mind for Maul and where Ahsoka from here. I thought they dropped a clue when she commented to Ventress that she never would have imagined them doing anything together. I am also curious about the next chapter in Boba's development into a badass bounty hunter. The fact that the Shock Troopers didn't take orders from Anakin was a discerning foreshadowing of the disintegrating relationship between the Jedi and the Clone troopers and kind of put a bad taste in my mouth. It was surprising how emotional the final moments of the last show was. I couldn't believe how much I was rooting for this character who, just a few seasons ago, was on par with Jar Jar in level of annoyance. Say what you will about Ahsoka as a character, the writers have done a nice job developing her over the years. One thing that I was unsure about since i haven't been paying attention to the seasons for a few years was why this season was only 20 episodes rather than 22? I do know that we will see a season 6, most likely on Disney XD. I read that just in the first two years alone the show generated 2.5 billion in merchandise alone. Disney won't want to kill that cash cow. -

I bought the Sea Port Battle for War Machine obviously. I just couldn't convince myself to get the other two. Maybe after I have seen the movie I will be more inclined to part with my money. -
Ever since the Clone Wars season 5 season finale trailer came out, I have been lusting after the mystery gunship ferrying around shock troopers. Well, after To Catch a Jedi, the gunship was finally revealed as the Republic Police gunship. This ship begs to be made in Lego form. Details here for those who are interested. I didn't post the pictures or details for those who haven't seen the episode. http://starwars.wiki..._police_gunship Unfortunately, since the Republic Gunship is coming out this summer, the chances of this lovely ship being made seem low unless we see the ship several more times in season six. Crosses fingers....

Despite the 3-D renderings of Episode II and III being canceled I believe we will still see Revenge of the Sith sets next summer. My guess is that we will get a new CTT and movie version of the Venator for the larger sets. The smaller sets would be an AT-AP, Droid Tri-Fighter, V-Wing fighter, and something Wookie related. Maybe a tree base with Yoda and Gree for decapitation purposes. What I am dying to see made in Lego form is the TIE/Republic Gunship hybrid that I saw on the Clone Wars season finale trailer. I have yet to see more than 3 three seconds of the ship and already it's a must have in my mind. It could come with Commander Fox, a Shock trooper, Ahsoka, and a Plo Koon with an updated torso.

Here's the final word from Don Solo at FBTB about the mystery white jedi: by Solo » Sun Feb 10, 2013 5:37 pm I did not notice the lack of face tattoo, it is possible she's a new character after all. Not details were given. Likewise with TMNT. We've already left the event so there are not Lego reps around to question further. You know what we know. So.... what we know is that we really don't know anything at this point.
-
I asked the folks over at FBTB about the mysterious jedi in white pictured on the Yoda exclusive. Here is what Don Solo said: Re: New York Toy Fair 2013 LEGO Exclusives by Solo » Sun Feb 10, 2013 3:26 pm 1. That's Luminara Unduli but we don't know why she's in white. To which I replied:Thanks for taking the time to answer Don. Are you sure that the jedi in white is Luminara Unduli? The figure seems to be lacking the tattoo that Unduli has on her chin. Some folks have been discussing the idea that the figure is a new one from the Yodi Chronicles sets. Something just doesn't seem to add up with the idea that the figure is Unduli. The white robes and lack of chin tattoo make me wonder if it is someone new....

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion

I haven't followed season 5 at all but the trailer for the season finale has drawn me back in. I better start at the beginning of the season. Perhaps it's been mentioned before but if you look at 1:03 of the trailer, you can see Master Plo in a new vehicle which looks like a mash-up of a Republic Gunship and a Tie fighter. Whatever it is, it would make a great Lego set.... -
I asked Onions on FBTB if they might be able to shed some light on the mysterious white jedi is. I will post any replies here.

The mech is fantastic, one of the better mechs Lego has build since Exo Force. I like the build on the back of the legs to prevent it from falling over. The Galactic Titan looks like a combination of the Clone Turbo Tank and the Republic Gunship, in a good way.
-
I love all these sets and the prices are fantastic. They are much better than the Hobbit sets per the build IMO. For some reason I thought the eagle would be larger. Still, the eagle looks fantastic especially with the printing. I don't even mind the feet molded together.

Well, according to FBTB Toy Fair coverage, Lego did show TMNT sets but they were only the current line out now. My hopes for a summer line just went out the window. Here's hoping that we will get a few sets for the winter line. Must have Casey Jones and Leatherhead......

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
djmangunz replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Slaps head. Duh. I can't believe I didn't think of that. Code names for minifigures. What is the world coming to? I am a bit surprised that the DC sets seem to be bigger than most of the Marvel sets but I guess that is how it was with this winter line with Marvel. -
Looking at the prices in Euros, which have been similar to American prices in the past year, I am a bit surprised at how cheap these LOTR sets appear to be. Rivendale for $30? I was assuming it would be about $40-$50, the Black Gate is $60 and I was thinking more like $80 and the pirate ship is $90, if these prices transfer, rather than the $120 I suspected. Now, I am sure someone more savvy than I will swoop along and point out how my Euro to dollar observation is incorrect but from what I have seen, the European prices have seemed awfully close to the American ones.

This makes me think that the Starhopper will be a Target or Wal Mart exclusive and about $40-$50 Toys R Us is the only chain that I can think of which gets large size exclusives for Star Wars. Based on what some of the other bigger exclusives have cost at TRU I would imagine the Jedi Cruiser will be about $90. This is the one set I am looking forward to the most and I was hoping it would be a bit bigger, like in the $120 range but no real complaints here. I am just glad this set is being made at all. I am just crossing my fingers that we will get some new figures in the Cruiser from the game and no repeats.

We already know the sets we will get this summer for LOTR. Next winter's sets will most likely focus on the Hobbit and with the summer release of The Hobbit: There and Back Again on July 18, 2014 we will probably get Hobbit based sets then too. I, like many people on this forum, believe that the sets based on Peter Jackson's movies will only last as long as the movies themselves. That being said, it appears as if the next three waves have been spoken for. Could we be looking at this summer's sets as the last round for sets based on the LOTR trilogy ? Summer 2013 LOTR: The Black Gate, Wizard's Duel...ext. Winter 2013 The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug sets Summer 2014 The Hobbit: There and Back Again sets Winter 2014....end of Tolkien related sets? :( Or will we see the line continue in the winter and the summer of 2015?

While it isn't exactly Lego news, Disney is having Zack Snyder develop a Star Wars spin-off film which will be in addition to the potential six Star Wars films Disney already has plans to make, churning out a new movie every two to three years. It's safe to say that Lego will have no lack of inspiration for new Star Wars sets to make. Could this spell the end of remakes in general? Cough* I'm looking at you X-Wing fighter*cough Who knows?Time will tell.
