The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion

Not to disagree with an ambassador but I am surprised the Sea Cow is $300. At 2741 pieces it isn't much larger than the Simpson's house at 2,523 pieces which costs $200 USD. I would guess that this is closer to the actual price. As awesome as the Spaceship and Police Dropship are, I would much rather have the stunning Sea Cow for $200 than the other two sets for $220. Just sayin...

    LEGO LotR - general discussion

Well, that's a kick in the face although not completely unexpected. I have been working on collecting the last few LOTR sets I was missing ever since we found out there wasn't an ad for LOTR in the Hobbit instructions. Personally I expect that the summer Lego Movie sets have taken the place of the LOTR ones especially because Lego has been wanting to push the movie products so much. My last remaining hope is for a summer 2015 wave but that is only a fool's hope. I see my dreams of an official Faramir minifigure drifting away.....
  3. So no Casey Jones? Maybe there will be another exclusive set to TRU and he will be in it (crosses fingers).
  4. Leatherhead And the Sub looks really well done! Just give me Casey Jones and I will be a happy man

    LEGO LotR - general discussion

I know there has been a lot of doom and gloom in regards to this beloved LOTR line. Today I stumbled upon something which may (or may not) shine a small glimmer of hope over this whole dark speculation. I just received the excellent Lego Minifigure Visual History dictionary. On page 245 it talks about the 2013 LOTR summer sets and on the last line it says, and I quote, "The adventure was set to continue with new releases later in the year." They are very clear about making the distinction between the Hobbit line and the LOTR line so I don't believe that they are referring to the 2013 winter Hobbit sets. The only part that worries me is the fact that it says "was set to" as in past tense. And why do they say later in the year rather than next summer? Perhaps it just creates more questions than answers but at least it is a glimmer of hope. And what you you have if you don't have hope?

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

Well, the fact that the Hobbit directions don't advertise another LOTR wave certainly doesn't bode well for any future sets . Although the suggestions that there will be a few Hobbit movie sets this summer do sound like a possibility. Perhaps a larger set like Erebor which wouldn't fit well into the winter price range which typically features less expensive sets? If this does mean the end of the LOTR sets, it is a crying shame since there seems to be (in my own opinion) three must have sets and characters that we will be lacking: 1. Minas Tirith with Éowyn 2. Henneth Annûn with Faramir 3. Lothlórien with Galadriel However, the list of summer sets should be coming out in December so we will find out for sure the fate of this line.

Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion

I rarely complain about Lego sets, upcoming or otherwise. Ultimately they are designed for kids, not thirty something males who fixate on their childhood through purchasing and hording expensive plastic toys However, I have to echo Piranha's lamenting and wonder why Lego didn't do at least one freaking set for CA2 or Thor 2. Besides the lack of vehicles and the risk of putting redundant figures in the sets. What it all boils down to is the fact that I really wanted a Winter Solder figure. End of rant about a first world problem.

Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion

I could have sworn someone said that the Winter Soldier was in one of the Avengers sets. Sounds like that dream has been crushed.

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

Apologies if this has been answered but do we have an official release date and prices for the US yet? And after getting a good look at these sets, I don't quite get all the hate for them. The minifigures are FANTASTIC and the builds themselves seem very movie accurate from the few film images that we have seen. I think that it is much easier to give all the love to the LOTR sets because we are all familiar with those buildings and locations from the movies. Here with the Hobbit film world we are seeing (almost) all new buildings and they don't hold the same place in our hearts as the ones from LOTR. Just my own opinion.

Super Heroes 2014 Rumors & Discussion

^^^This. Normally I would argue that the comic and cartoon versions of superheros lend themselves better to Lego's style but after watching the freaking excellent trailer for Captain America I would have to argue that having Falcon in his SHIELD cammo outfit would be much more desirable than his more campy red tights and headgear from the comics.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

And...if you want to get an early glimpse of one of the characters from the Rebels show we will likely get in minifigure form in 2014, here you go as well. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=88441 As for me, I hate it. The villain looks like they put all the baddies from Star Wars in a blender and plopped him out.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

Well perhaps not all hope is lost for new Clone Wars sets after the winter wave. This was just announced so maybe there is a chance we might get a few more vehicles and figures from the final episodes of the show. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=88411

    TMNT 2013

All I want is Casey Jones and Leatherhead from the Nick cartoon. Hopefully we will get no more than three from the movie...

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors

There was an update at the Star Wars Celebration in Europe yesterday. Producer Dave Filoni (Clone Wars) revealed some concept art from the Rebels show due out in 2014. One of the pictures showed the main ship called "The Ghost". It looks a lot better than the Twilight from the Clone Wars. I figured that it would definitely show up as a future Lego set and since the show comes out in 2014 that this news would fit the 2014 pictures and rumors. If not feel free to move or delete mods. Picture of Ghost and Logo: http://www.comingsoo...s.php?id=107113 And McQuarrie style influenced stormtroopers: http://www.theforce....loni_153434.asp Just thought some people might like to see what may appear in future sets!

    TMNT 2013

I have seen some strange polybags before but that....that takes the cake. WTF with the green blocks representing the Turtles? I realize that it is target practice but...(shakes head). I think I am putting too much thought into this...
  17. I really hope someone hasn't already started a thread like this. I did a search but sometimes my searching skills are lacking. Anyway, over the past 9 years after I came out of my Dark Age, my wife noticed that I have formed some habits I must follow when building a new set. The first thing is that I MUST be watching something related to the set I am building. For example; when I first got back into Lego it was because of the Harry Potter movies and sets. I must have watched POA about thirty times based on the number of HP sets I own. When I transitioned into Star Wars then it became those movies until the Clone Wars came out. Recently I have branched out to a few non-licensed themes and I have had to go hunting for something to watch which was somewhat connected, like for Alien Conquest I found the Halo TV show and Starship Troopers. Tonight I will be enjoying some Lone Ranger sets and 3:10 To Yuma. Another part of my ritual is a cup of Chai and a cloth. The Chai because it's awesome and the cloth for my hands because for some reason they sweat while I build sets. IDK. Oh, and my wife just reminded me that I have her put on my stickers because with her small hands she is way better at applying them than I do. So what routines or habits do you have when building new Lego?

    2013 Lone Ranger Sets

New trailer for the Lone Ranger if you are so inclined... http://collider.com/the-lone-ranger-tv-spot-poster/ Whilst I don't have a lot of interest in this movie, I am crossing my fingers that it does well at the box office. Well enough to warrant a sequel because the sets are awesome sauce and I gotsta have more of em.. Oh, the whole line is available at YoYo.com. But buyer beware, they went all Toys R Us on us and jacked up the prices. Even with the YOYO30 code, they are still above MSRP. http://www.yoyo.com/buy?s=lone%20ranger

Routines You Have While Building Lego

I think my son is just not quite ready to build something from instructions but that doesn't keep him from staring longingly at my sets. Especially the Clone Turbo Tank, for some reason he loves that one. I have been really interested to hear some of the routines other AFOL have. I kinda thought I was the only one who had to watch something during building, all the while wiping the sweat off my hands with a rag. Still, my favorite part of the build is when they include one of those little prefeorated bags. For some reason I love the little holes in the plastic. It must remind me of the sets I got when I was a kid.

Tree dude? It's GROOT for crying out loud! Show some respect for the Monarch of Planet X. Sheesh! (Sometimes sarcasm doesn't translate well on the intraweb)

    2013 Lone Ranger Sets

So I love the build on the stagecoach so far, but I was disappointed to find that Lego didn't include a tomahawk for Tonto in the set. It looks like the train set doesn't include a tomahawk either. Does anyone know what sets include this assessory?

Routines You Have While Building Lego

That..that is awesome! And sounds super hard. For a family of ADHD children that may have lead to death or at least fighting. Does anyone build with their kids? I have a 3yr old with another one on the way and I have been trying to get him into building with me. Duplo right now because anything smaller has a habit of being crammed into a major orifice.

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

In regards to the Thor set, to me it looks too obscure to be fake. Typically someone trying to fool the AFOL community would create a MOC which is both recognizable and desirable. This set hold nether of these qualities. What the heck is it supposed to be? Plus J2G is a trustworthy source. Anyway, if anyone wants a peek at what some future Super Hero sets and minifigures may look like, Collider has some preliminary art from Captain America 2, Thor 2, and my favorite The Guardians of the Galaxy. http://collider.com/captain-america-2-images-guardians-of-the-galaxy-images/

Routines You Have While Building Lego

A fellow hand sweater! It can be kind of annoying to have to wipe them off every other brick or so. I almost never finish a set in one sitting. The joy of fatherhood means never having more than a few minutes to yourself. Once it took me a month to finish a set. That's awesome! Nothing like putting bricks in the wrong spot to bring out the sailor in you!
