On the box of the Ghost set from the toy fair, the image of the jedi Kanan was blacked out (despite the fact that you could kind of make him out in other pictures). Here is a better look and a short video that Disney has released about the mysterious Jedi. At least there are no anime-style eyes to worry about on our Lego minifigures. http://www.comicbook...e/news/?a=94407 More at USA Today: http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2014/02/11/freddie-prinze-jr-star-wars-rebels-first-look/4802651/

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
djmangunz replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but I was looking at a picture of Benny's Spaceship and the black Vic Viper looking villain ship seems to have Lord Business in it with a transred helmet and what appears to be a Blacktron torso. I could be completely wrong but that is what it looked like from the angle I saw. Going to see the movie tonight so I will see if this is correct or not. http://www.spieletest.at/pics/bericht/1315/lego052.JPG- 2626 replies

Thanks The Chosen 1! The article was by far the most in depth interview with a Lego official that I have ever read. They did a great job of answering many of the questions that I have been wondering about for years.

Interesting quote from Lego design VP Matthew James about creating sets for movies and the difficulties they experience when reference materials change (read: The Hobbit) In 2015 there are some massive movies that fans are pretty sure you guys are going to be doing. For example, you guys have the Star Wars license, there’s Star Wars: Episode VII, there’s Avengers 2, there are some huge properties coming. You’ve already mentioned how long the process usually is, can you talk about the challenge of creating LEGO for properties like that where there is an element of secrecy. How much are the studios actually letting you see? ASHTON: It kind of varies properties to properties but generally it’s very much dependent on the filmmaker’s schedule and what assets are available when and what can be released it in many respects. Obviously, a film studio is not going to re-plan their entire movie shoot to fit into when we need certain assets delivered to us. In many instances they’re really, really great at pulling stuff the minute that they’ve got it and other instances we might have to work from really preliminary sketch material and of course, when the toy comes out it won’t be 100% accurate to what it looks like in the movie in those cases. All the studios just do the best that they can to accommodate getting as much material out. And of course, there’s things that will be edited and colors changed in post-production and everything along the way. We may have found that when a model ends up in production in one color and then you see it in the movie, it may not look the same once the final movie comes out. Especially now, everything’s digital in movies as well because filmmakers can tweak a movie right up until pretty much two days before it’s launched and of course our product’s locked a year before that. It does cause a few problems in certain instances but we’ve really found that everybody just does their upmost because also the studios want to make sure that they get the best products out there as well. So, they generally do whatever they can to get the materials to us in a timely manner as possible. Read more at http://collider.com/matthew-james-ashton-the-lego-movie-interview/#L25VvCEY4FEdA3GS.99

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
djmangunz replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
A cool interview with VP of Lego Design Matthew James all about the Lego Movie. There are some interesting titbits in the interview about the potential of some sets and what goes into designing them. · It generally takes 18 months to create a LEGO set with 6-8 months on the actual design side of creating a product. However, Ashton says, “Of course more complicated things, that we need to start on earlier, could vary from 2 years to 6 years depending on what kind of product line it is.” · One of the reasons they haven’t gone after sports teams or music artists is they are regional. LEGO tries to create with a global perspective. However, Ashton does reveal “It is something that we’ve definitely discussed and we’re not ruling out for the future. It has been talked about.” · I asked about the possibility of bringing back classic sets like Blacktron, Western, or retired sets. Ashton says that while they have talked about it, the challenge is that the 80s sets might not appeal to “what the kids are used to seeing and playing with now.” However, “we have talked about it, all of these things are coming up all the time internally. It’s something, I think from a nostalgic point of view, it’s great.” · While LEGO previously did a set for Avatar: The Last Airbender, they have no plans to do The Legend of Korra. · The sales on the LEGO Back to the Future DeLorean have been really good. That is one of the reasons they green lit a Cuusoo platform created Ghostbusters Ecto 1. When the Ecto 1 was submitted, it was with the fire station. I asked why they didn’t make it with the station and it came down to price and time. By not including the station, they will be able to get the vehicle into stores much sooner. Also, the price point will be much cheaper. I’d imagine very similar to what the DeLorean sells for (which is $34.99). · When asked about the possibility of the monorail coming back, Ashton says, “That’s another one where we’ve talked about it and it may, it may not. There’s no final decision, there’s nothing in pipeline on that one at the moment but that doesn’t mean that there won’t ever be.” · For Simpsons fans thinking you might eventually see Moe’s Tavern or the Nuclear Power Plant where Homer works, Ashton pretty much says it will never happen. His exact quote was, “we try to avoid anything alcohol-related within our products, especially targeting kids. I’m very dubious that that would happen. http://collider.com/...ovie-interview/- 2626 replies

Both of the helicopter's look awesome! I love that bowler hat on Toxicita, The mech in helicopter form almost has a Halo look to it. It is going to be really hard to stick to my Lego budget this summer with Star Wars Rebels, Ninja Turtles, The Lego Movie sets, and now the Ultra Agents.

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion

Happy days! To piggyback on the rumors that others have been discussing, WB has indeed greenlit The Lego Movie 2! Get ready for some more crazy and awesome sets! (in about 3 years :) http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/devlin712/news/?a=93909- 2626 replies

Here's hoping that the Ghost's cockpit is printed.
-
Real pics of the Ghost and Phantom via Hothbricks! That site is good for something... http://www.hothbrick...mberg-toy-fair/ I wish we could get a better look at those figs in the Ghost especially that mysterious Jedi.
-
That vehicle has a Tron look to it.
-
I'm loving the (somewhat blurry) look of the Ghost! This is the first Star Wars set that I have had any real interest in for a few years. just hope those aren't huge stickers on either side of the cockpit. That new B-wing looks good, almost good enough to add it to my 2006 version. Good thing there isn't any LOTR sets this summer. It gives me some more wiggle room in the Lego budget.

Who are the third and fourth characters in the ISD lineup?
-
I really like the look of the Ghost with its bubble gun turrets in the front and on the top. The Ralph McQuarrie influence is fantastic. I think the Rebels line can breath new life into a well worn catalog of OT age vehicles and ships. The only downside is that it only comes with three new figures. While I am sure that Lego is saving the Inquisitor for his own vehicle during the 2015 winter line it would have been nice to get a "named" villain with the Ghost rather than a bland Stormtrooper. Speaking of which I stumbled upon a tasty rumor regarding a particular future Rebel character: ‘It can be said, that Rebels will introduce Mara Jade, into the film canon, sometimes appearing with the Inquisitor and she will be the living mother of Ben Skywalker. http://metro.co.uk/2014/01/27/star-wars-episode-7-to-have-strong-link-to-star-wars-rebels-4278341/ Can you say, "Mara Jade official minifigure in 2015?"
-
Somewhat stupid American question but does £69.99 match up with the report that the Ghost will be $90 USD?
-
That sounds perfect! That's where that clip is from. I still believe that some of the battle of the five armies will take place in Erebor.
-
There is a snippet in one of Peter Jackson's video blogs, maybe 13 or 14 I can't remember, which shows a group of what appear to be Iron Hills dwarves preparing for battle in a place which resembles the halls of Erebor. This makes me believe that the battle of the Five Armies in the last movie will spill into the dwarven stronghold. Hence my hope for a glorious Erebor set Plus, if this really is going to be the last big set from Middle Earth, we need another fortress or castle for our hero's on par with the excellent Helm's Deep.
-
That's why I am thinking that Ebeor will be some exterior landscape, the gates about 6 minifigs tall, the 2 dwarven statues, and a very small treasure room on the other side of the gates. A tall wall in other word. I understand the idea of having another set of Laketown but I can't see it being a $130 set, not after just getting a $50 version this wave.
-
Bah...I meant red ax but I believe you are correct about Thrain getting it in the movie. I couldn't find a better place to fit him in and we need an Elrond in red armor. I tossed in the battle armor because another member member mentioned that Galadriel wore it in some some upcoming footage...and it sounded interesting I thought Smaug would be in the biggest set too but deskp brought up the point that he would likely be in a Laketown set. And I really want the biggest set to be Erebor And because it's my list damn it!
-
I guess but the only other set big enough to get a Smaug would be the $60 one. Well, in light of the new prices here are my new ideas: 79015 Set 1 – 101 pcs – $15 Battle of Dol Guldur,: small fortress wall Galadriel in battle armor, Sauron, and Saruman 79016 Set 2 – 313 pcs – $30 Battle of Dale: ruined Dale building, Elrond in battle armor, two orcs, two Mirkwood soldiers 79017 Set 3 – 471 pcs – $60 Smaug Attack: Laketown tower with mounted windlass crossbow, Bard, Laketown archer, Kili, Fili, Tauriel 79018 Set 4 – xxx pcs – $130 Battle of Erebor: Gates of Erebor, two large dwarf statues, small treasure room with treasure chests, Arkenstone, Bilbo, Dain Ironfoot with boar, two Iron Hills soldiers, Bolg, Legolas, Beorn in bear form and...you are welcome The Lego Company. Your work is done for you Oh...and Dain better have a red hammer.
-
Well hells yes then! Erebor with Smaug here I come!
-
I really hope that this is accurate price for 7901 but I am going to wait until someone more reputable than a certain French site confirms it, like Brickset for example.

79015: box size: 191 x 141 x 46 mm, price: ~ $12 Battle of Dol Guldur, small cage, Galadriel, Sauron, Gandalf 12$ for 3 figs? Not really... if 3 figs its 99% a 14.99$ Good catch, 3 figs normally go in $20 sets. So then Galadriel and Sauron 79016: box size: 282 x 262 x 59 mm, $20 Ruins of Dale: small ruined Dale building 2 Laketown soldiers, 2 Goblins Sounds good allthough I just dont see them making a armybuilder out of Lake Town guards... From what I have heard there is going to be a skirmish in the Ruins of Dale. The video blog 13 shows a snippet of Thranduil fighting with orcs in what looks like Dale so I guess you could replace one of the Lake Town soldiers with a Mirkwood one... 79017: box size: unknown, price: ~$35 Battle of the Five Armies: landscape of the Lonely Mountain, Beorn in bear form, Bolg, 1 Mirkwood Soldier, 1 Goblin, YES, I want that but ONLY if the Mirkwood soldier is armored (helmet mold etc.) I would like printed armor on the elves but I can live with elf hair if we don't get a helmet. 79018: box size: 582 x 378 x 87 mm, price: $90 Erebor; Gates and dwarven statues in green, molded Smaug, Dain Ironfoot with boar, 2 Iron Hills Dwarves, Thorin, Bilbo with Arkenstone, eagle Why the statues in green? They looked gray to me.... I have the gates of Erebor as my screensaver and the statues just like the gates appear green to me but I could be wrong I guess example: http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Lonely_Mountain I tried to incorporate mostly new characters like the Lego Hobbit preliminary picture suggested but I felt that Bilbo and Thorin needed to be included since they are the main characters. And Gandalf since he seems to be included in almost every other set I would imagine that we are guaranteed a Dain Ironfoot minifigure as well as a Bolg. The others are a crap shoot. It seemed to me that one of the sets needed to have an eagle. And here is hoping for a new mold for the crested helmets of the Iron Hills soldiers as well as a new bear form for Beorn, and a boar that a minifigure could ride.
-
So just a few guesses: 79015: box size: 191 x 141 x 46 mm, price: ~ $12 Battle of Dol Guldur, small cage, Galadriel, Sauron, Gandalf 79016: box size: 282 x 262 x 59 mm, $20 Ruins of Dale: small ruined Dale building 2 Laketown soldiers, 2 Goblins 79017: box size: unknown, price: ~$35 Battle of the Five Armies: landscape of the Lonely Mountain, Beorn in bear form, Bolg, 1 Mirkwood Soldier, 1 Goblin, 79018: box size: 582 x 378 x 87 mm, price: $90 Erebor; Gates and dwarven statues in green, molded Smaug, Dain Ironfoot with boar, 2 Iron Hills Dwarves, Thorin, Bilbo with Arkenstone, eagle Just a few guesses. All I really want is Galadriel, Blog, and Dain Ironfoot with boar steed

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion

Well crap Still, that certainly helps out the budget. $160 for two great sets isn't too shabby. On a side note J2G, my son and I enjoyed watching one of your video reviews on Brickset. It was very well done. All valid points. Has the price for the Sea Cow been confirmed? Because if not I am just going to keep on deluding myself that it is going to be affordable. I just can't justify paying $300 for any toy no matter how awesome it may be.- 2626 replies
