Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

Seeing as Lego has been using the Spiderman cartoon as a source for sets, I have to wonder if we similarly might see some sets based on the upcoming 2013 CG cartoon of Beware the Batman. If so it sounds like we might see some lesser known characters see the light of day like Professor Pyg, Anarky, and an Alfred who is an ex-MI6 agent. I recently saw a teaser trailer for the show and was impressed by the visuals. The designers did a nice job creating a new Batmobile which echoes designs from the past and merges it with a high-tech slick look. It would look good in Lego form. Here is the aforementioned trailer for those so inclined: http://www.mtv.com/videos/misc/760474/beware-the-batman-teaser-trailer.jhtml

Bah, a War Machine that good means I will be spending money on some of the Iron Man sets. I wonder if there will be some sort of mounted machine gun to connect on his back?

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors

I found this on Brickset which is what I am assuming you are talking about: http://www.brickset....il/?Set=75025-1 Which, seems to be this ship: http://jedi.well-of-...m/corvette.html I really liked this ship when I first saw it on the SW:TOR preliminary art. It indeed would make a cool ship and Brickset is a very reliable source for information. Who knows? Maybe we will see it next summer? Edit: Has anyone heard of this set yet? http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=75024-1 If so, my apologies, I haven't been following the SW forum that much. It looks like it is this ship: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/HH-87_Starhopper

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

Drawing or not, it's still brilliant. Is it based on the Mikwood soldiers in the flashback at the beginning of the Hobbit movie? I would love to see a version of them and the Ironwood dwarfs in the future. That is true about the holiday sales. Although it seems like the two flagship sets from the LOTR and the Hobbit, Helm's Deep and the Goblin set, both have spent a great deal of time on sale. Eh, who knows. And a Ranger Ambush would be fantastic! But I would think that the Olphant mold, if done on a bigger scale, would push the price up to about $80 to a $100, which I would be fine with if the set is a good size.

Wait....what? Can I ask where you have heard this from? I have yet to come across any rumors like that, but I agree the Corvette would be an awesome set.

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

Yes please! I would imagine that we would get one more wave of LOTR sets after the 3rd Hobbit movie comes out in July 18, 2014. Maybe they would release the LOTR sets in winter 2014 because surely they would have Hobbit sets coming out that summer to correspond with the Hobbit movie. Hopefully the sets will sell well over the next few years but the fact that the Goblin set is on sale everywhere makes me just a bit concerned. Hey Hench, I wouldn't post confidential pictures. Our mods are nice folks but I would hate to see you get the hammer dropped on you. And welcome, it's nice to have another LOTR fan here!

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

Agreed. Which is why the potential of the upcoming movies and Lego sets is so exciting. It's almost like Christmas for Tolkien and Lego fans waiting to see what both parties can create. I like the eagles, but I think they would look better with a closed beak. Just my opinion.

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

While I agree that the information came from an interview several years ago, Jackson has taken pains to make carefully crafted connections between the Hobbit and the LOTR. The denial of Viggo being involved with the films is standard MO for a film which wants to keep some parts of the upcoming plot under wraps and doesn't mean anything. But just like the sets, we will have to see what will come. However, as I stated before, am merely speculating about what we may see as upcoming sets. I don't have any more information about potential sets than anyone else. Fella.

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

Things change my friend, as we can see by an inclusion of a third movie. But let's be clear here, I am merely speculating about future Hobbit sets, nothing more. Quote: The project had been envisaged as two parts since 2006, but the proposed contents of the parts changed during development. MGM expressed interest in a second film in 2006, set between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.[71] Jackson concurred, stating that "one of the drawbacks of The Hobbit is it's relatively lightweight compared to LOTR [Lord of the Rings]... There's a lot of sections in which a character like Gandalf disappears for a while. – he references going off to meet with the White Council, who are actually characters like Galadriel and Saruman and people that we see in Lord of the Rings. He mysteriously vanishes for a while and then comes back, but we don't really know what goes on."[12] Jackson was also interested in showing Gollum's journey to Mordor and Aragorn setting a watch on the Shire.[72]

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

You certainly may be correct, I remember reading about Galaxy Squad taking two years to create, but design and story-boarding began in 2007 and finished in 2009 giving Lego plenty of time to outline and brainstorm sets. From The Hobbit Film Series: Completion of the story outlines and treatments ended in March 2009 and the studios approved the start of writing the screenplay. Anyway, it takes a damn long time to make a Lego set, especially one based on licensed property. I am not even sure when the second film finishes shooting. That being said, I think they might move some of the sets back and try to create a few more to better fit the new timeline of the movies. For film two I would imagine that we might see: Beorn's House The Battle of Dol Guldur with a few members of the Council of White An expanded version of Thranduil's fortress in Mirkwood Laketown with Bard The Lonely Mountain with Smaug For Film Three: The Battle of the Five Armies with Dain and his red axe Beron, Thranduil and a few elves or Ironwood Dwarves Mordor with the return of the Dark Lord The Hunt for Gollum with Aragorn And for the rest we would have to see what the film holds

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

We know that Lego takes about two years to put together a line, that being said, we could certainly see how that timeline can be affected when things change in a movie. There were certainly sets which didn't fit into this first Hobbit line like the Barrel Escape, and glaring omissions like the lack of Azog (aka the pale orc) in the Warg Attack. What I have to wonder about is how these changes will affect this next line of sets. While I am certain we will have a Smaug set, perhaps in the $100 price range, but certainly Lego will have created a Battle of the Five Armies set already, which supposedly won't show up until the third movie. What do you think? Will Lego keep the sets they have already created, or will they move some of them to the last movie and hustle create new ones to fit the material in the second movie?

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

Having just seen the Hobbit this afternoon finally, I have to say that there weren't too many scenes which Lego didn't cover in the first line that I could see them turning into sets. With the exception of the trolls and the inclusion of the white orc in the Attack of the Wargs set, I would have to say Lego nailed the bests opportunities to make sets. The movie was incredible by the way, packed full of little nuggets for the hardcore fans.

    TMNT 2013

True, but a break rarely happens with a licensed line. I am sure someone will be able to name one off the bat, but I can't think of a licensed theme which skipped an entire winter or summer line. Deep down I am really not that worried. I think my Turtles will be back this summer, perhaps with a giant green crocodile to assist them in their battles against the Kraang.

    TMNT 2013

While it is not completely unexpected, it is a bit disappointing that all the other themes have the majority of their sets names revealed and TMNT is lacking. I hope this is due to the fact that no one has yet to get their hands on the list and not that TMNT is going to be a one-shot theme. We must have a Lego Leatherhead and Casey Jones! Do you hear me Lego? I demand more Ninja Turtles!

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

While I really like all the sets, especially the Harbor Attack or whatever it is called, I can't help but be a trifle disappointed with the Rivendale offering. I love the minifigures, Elrond for the win baby! The set is just lacking in size. While I realize that Rivendale isn't the site of any battles, hence decreasing the desirability of it with Lego's targeted audience ie. boys 8-12, deep down I would like to believe that Lego creates sets just for me and they had to know how much I was looking forward to a Rivendale. The number of sets is kind of worrisome too. We know that Lego plans their sets years in advance and I am sure this has less to do with how the sets are selling and more that they are making more shelf room for the upcoming castle sets, but only four (five with the inevitable TRU/Target exclusive) makes Mangunz a sad boy. That being said, does anyone else think the LOTR sets are so much better than the Hobbit sets?

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

Whilst the winter sets are nice (yay for Nick Fury!) I can't help my mind from wandering about what may be coming down the pipeline. The big thing I am looking forward to a few years from now is the Guardians of the Galaxy sets based on the movie to be released in 2014. I did discover that the Ultimate Spiderman season two will feature the aforementioned Guardians in one of the episodes. http://marvel.com/ne...l_clarke_duncan Could we have a chance to get Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, and Gamora in Lego form prior to the movie thanks to Spiderman? Mmmmmm...Lego Star-Lord....(cue Homer Simpson drooling) EDIT: For those of you who don't know about the GOTG, or just have more to do than read obscure comics, the group is like Star Wars meets the Avengers....with a talking raccoon. And...a talking (sort of) tree. And a super hot mantis girl with telepathic abilities. (that sounded a lot less creepy in my head)

    TMNT 2013

I just finished putting together the Sewer Lair. It was a nice build, nothing repetitive. The set reminded me of the HP Burrow set or like one of the Kenner TMNT playsets I used to own. Splinter's head mold is well done and is a harder plastic not that soft stuff they sometimes use for specialized head molds. It could have been a bit bigger, I definitely would have shelled (get it?) out the dough for a Hogwarts size set to get more detail in the building, but all in all very nice. On a side note, this was the first time I put on my own stickers (my wife is an artist and has much steadier hands than I do) and I f-ed it up royally by putting on of the stickers on the wrong side of the wall. Fail on my part.

    TMNT 2013

Heh, the Wiggles are catchy and therein lies the problem. I was building the Sewer Lair today and noticed a few tidbits. I was wondering if the Dark Ninja would have Chris Bradford's face and it does. Also, in Don's workshop there are a trio of blueprints. One was the Shellraiser, one was the T-Phone, and the other was for the Turtle Blimp! I don't know if the designers were just putting in a cool nod to the original show or if it is something to come?

    2013 Lone Ranger Sets

Agreed. The movie looks meh at best but the sets...oh, the sets. I mean, a train with a Gatling gun mounted on it? Come on! It would be stupid of me not to buy it, right? Here's hoping the Republic Gunship is crap so I have some more wiggling room in my budget next year.

    TMNT 2013

You know you have an addiction dedication to a hobby if you are willing to drive 80 miles in holiday traffic to pick up two toys (collectibles dammit!) because that is what I just finished doing. I was persistent enough to find the Shellraiser and Shredder's Bike a few weeks ago at TRU below Lego's prices (thank you 20% off coupon) but I just had to have the Sewer Lair and Baxter's Rampage. 80 miles folks. In parents' terms, the trip was long enough to listen to the Wiggle's Safari CD four times. That's 128 songs of Wiggles goodness folks! I am going to hear "Big Red Car" in my sleep now, but it was so worth it because the sets are awesome. AWESOME I tell you! Sigh. Off to bed now.

    75003 A-Wing: a first look

That A-Wing pilot is I don't think I am exaggerating when I say that is one of the best designed Lego minfigures I have ever seen. He has printing on his belt for crying out loud! But the amount of stickers, whew
