If there was ever ANY sign that Lego considered the 3rd wave of Hobbit sets as a complete throwaway line, just look at the January 2015 catalog. There is not even ONE MENTION of the sets, and this catalog is printed and distributed in December 2014. So the movie is still in theatres, and Lego has already stopped promoting those products in their official catalog. I think these sets just set the record for the least amount of time advertised in the catalog.

I'll still buy them all. My wife is cool, and I have a 16 foot shelf on top of my entertainment center in the living room with all the LotR and Hobbit sets, LED backlt and all. That being said, I've modded just about all of them (with the exception being Orthanc), so I'm sure I'll mod these as well. Am I thrilled with what we have here? As sets I think they are somewhat juniroized. BUT on the other hand, there are some positives about these sets. Witch King, Galadriel, new Orcs, Smaug, etc... I think I'll be able to do some pretty cool stuff with what is here, but man I wish there was just *a little* more out of the box on these...

I really wish that other building they show in the lego.com movie from LakeTown was a set. Really good, but no way it fits in with the pricing structure of the upcoming sets :/

I dont think the whole set could possibly be DOUBLE what is in the picture. I think its POSSIBLE that there may be something cool to the left of the pic, but I also think it may be as simple as that the only thing thats there is a support column and the rest of the conveyor belt. People say it doesn't look like 800 pieces? How many were in Moria? Wasnt it similar and Moria was much smaller....

I still don't feel like there has been ANY news and people need to keep their pants on over this. Just think about all the rumors + LACK of news on Orthanc until there was actually pictures on display and an unveiling. LEGO has done a really good job recently of keeping LotR and Hobbit set designs under wraps until the very last minute. Do I want more LotR sets? You bet your bottom dollar I do. Will I be disappointed if what we got in wave #2 is the final wave? Of course. BUT I'm not gonna get caught up in hysteria when there's no way to know *just yet* if there will be anything out. Now will I be on the crazy train just like the rest IF an announcement comes, but until then I'll just take a deep breath and see what happens.

1 blog looks consistent with azog. All the new baddies are pretty interesting and could make good figs 2 I don't think so because the little action that's there involves a decapitation, then again they did make the mouth of sauron 3 ruins are massive. Definitely no way to make something totally accurate, however I still don't know why the statue is in the set. I didnt see that and I was looking for it 4 don't want to be spoiling anything, but maaaaaaaaaybe :):):):):) 5 enormous. Even a massive Lego version could only realistically be 1/8 to 1/10 scale

As I was watching the movie I specifically looked for the sets or something that looked similar: • dol goldur: the gate was easily recognizable. Did not see the statue. I agree with the comment that 'battle' is an amalgomation of ragadasts and gandalfs visits • beorn has nothing to do with dol goldur in this movie and his inclusion is quite odd. The figure is a good representation of the movie • mirkwood elf army: its actually pretty clear to me that this set is based on the "stopping point" where the barrels get stuck at the elf gate. I need to go change my mod to have a river flowing thru it now. • lake town: pretty obvious, and the boat actually us reminiscent. There's definitely •a lot• of other places and characters that they could've included in the sets so hopefully they show up later on

Toys-R-Us in the USA not only has the sets available online, they are regular retail price, AND you can put in the code SAVE15 to get 15% off, AND you get free shipping over $49. My wallet is a bit lighter right now! :-) http://www.toysrus.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=lego%20hobbit&origkw=lego+hobbit&f=Taxonomy/TRUS/2254197&sr=1

Do you actually know any kids who are into Lord of the Rings?
dranguish replied to SheepEater's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
My 7 year old loves LotR and the Hobbit (and has decided that everyone in the family is going to be a LotR or Hobbit character for Halloween this year)... now admittedly part of her like for it stems from her older brother and myself being total LotR nuts... but nonetheless she definitely is into it. She actually prepared for the midnight showing of the Hobbit on opening night and stayed up through the whole thing (better than her mom did haha) -
So what's the door in the bottom dungeon go to? That's not in the original build so I am curious :-)
