The lion looks a lot better than it does on the box art tbh, and the function to open and close the mouth is pretty slick, as are the hidden missile launchers. While I still don’t /love/ the look of it, I can appreciate it a bit more now that I see what the functions are. Was gonna get it anyway for the arcade build, but good to know I won’t have to mod it as much as I thought I would to like it.

you can also seemingly use it very easily with the other buildings in the line because of this. does it make sense for a bull checkpoint, a convenience store, or pigsy's shop to be on flower fruit mountain? no, of course not. is it funny and rife with opportunities for play and display with some mods? absolutely. the bit of ffm in the inferno jet is probably the first of several potential add-ons to that environment as well. we have seen a temple in that location in the new special, and a hut that is supposed to be behind that waterfall, both of those would make great sets to add to this one. edit- looking at the back of the box the whole build splits into 3 and can be swapped around or played with separately, but i also think that the open spotes on the back, specifically the row directly behind the waterfall, will be used for wukong's hut later on in the line. especially if they keep showing mk training there.

this wave seems largely to be based on the new "new years demon" special so i think they're trying to not spoil her involvement there, although unfortunately the trailer does spoil it. id count on her appearing atleast once in the next wave.

a poster was revealed for the new special, on the last page, that shows off mk and his team fighting spider queen, her 2 goons from the dronecopter set, and a bigfig style character for her army. no figure was revealed but the animation model was, and its unlikely a distinct design like that will go unmade, as all the major villain designs last wave were made last year, aside from macaque who is in this wave now, and the white haired girl who only showed up for a few seconds and will likely be a major player in the next season so will likely appear next wave.

possibly, although given the way they are structured that would be the smallest set, so very unlikely to have the bigfig. in fact im pretty sure thats one of those minifig and accessory sets, the blister card ones, since this wave was originally stated to be 7 sets plus one of those, and these are all 7 sets.

loving the mountain, and the number of other side builds of environment are in these sets. the anti grav arcade from the show is a good inclusion, although ill probably mod it to be more of a full building. wish i could see the lion better but its looking like that will need some mods. unpopular opinion i actually like the bike, the chunkiness fits the aesthetic the theme has, and the disk shooter on the side makes sense if he's being attacked from the side, he does make these things in the moment in-fiction so it would be fairly situational. red sons jet looks better than expected, although i am a bit dissapointed it doesnt seem to transform considering in the pilot he literally yells at mk that he will "never drive a vehicle without atleast one transformaton" or something like that, but still a good set. all the different outfits for wukong in the mountain are great, and im glad to see him pop up in more sets this wave, as well as mr. tang whos been missing for 2 waves. given the reveal of a bigfig im sure theres gonna be a second wave for this season later this year, especially since just like last time these seem to mostly corralate to a 44 min special instead of the actual season, so we can probably expect another 1 set for spider queen with the bigfig, as well as a few that include other villains like the demon bros later. all in all im very happy with this wave so far, despite the lion seeming to be a dud.
  8. maybe the farms could be at street level, with homes at the riverfront on the bottom, then platforms with farms above those, or something like that.

a trailer for what seems to be a Chinese new year special for monkie kid released, which is the source of the screen shot of the lion, although not the jet somehow. at the beginning you can see what looks to be the arachnoid base, a walking, spider-ish shaped building. so its kinda between "vehicle" and "playset". it kind of seems like a bigger version of the galaxy squad series biggest alien vehicle, but with spider queen's colors and a pagoda and what looks like a landing pad or balcony of some sort sticking out of the thorax instead of the launcher? its pretty funky looking in a good way, although itll definitely be downsized in the set since it towers over other buildings in the trailer.

    LEGO Monkie Kid 2021

agreed on how small it looks. maybe it has an environment, maybe builds of the other lion things in the shot, maybe a villain vehicle to fight against, or maybe its just smaller in the show than the set, like mei's bike, or mk's hoverboard

    LEGO Monkie Kid 2021

well, neither of those look how i expected, but that DOES confirm that the list of sets is real at least. the lion guardian is mechanical it seems, although the screenshot shows organic ones too so who knows, maybe the set will be a robotic one vs an organic one or something. the inferno jet is very different to what i was expecting but fits red son's aesthetic pretty well, and the screenshot may be showing a transformed or split state, since the show does make a point of saying he would never use a vehicle without "at least one transformation". given how nice everything in the dronecopter set seems to be, im optimistic that this wave will be really well done. hopefully mk's bike can make up for mei's abysmal bike from wave 1.

    LEGO Monkie Kid 2021

it seems so, and I'm glad they're going big with the first major location. i wouldn't be surprised if the lion guardian set is partially location based as well, with some kind of shrine or something where mk would be meeting the lion. pure speculation though.

    LEGO Monkie Kid 2021

as far as we know, yes. could turn out to not be, or the names could be changed a bit considering the "team quadcopter" became "team dronecopter" between reveal and listing on lego.com, but as far as we know that list is correct. im also inclined to belive it more since the leaked box art of the drone copter changed the clouds from last years box art into an image of flower fruit mountain.

i would assume that, just like last season, the show will introduce 3 or 4 new villains through its run and then the next wave of sets will be smaller but feature more variety of villains, like how spider queen and the demon bros didnt appear in the first wave which was dedicated entirely to the bull army. i guess we'll see though, hopefully soon because i really want to see what that mountain set will look like considering its apparently a 170$ set, being bigger than the dronecopter which is confirmed to be 150$

My hope is that if the sets do have the theme of traveling to flower fruit mountain together while fighting the villains, which it seems like they might considering the mostly air vehicles, flower fruit mountain being seemingly the biggest set, and the lion guardian likely being an ancient statue type thing instead of a modern mech type thing, that this waves “side builds” will be add ons to expand the main mountain set similarly to the way the side builds in ninjagos last wave could expand the skull dungeon. as for villain stuff I’d be surprised if some of the hero sets didn’t also include smaller things for the villains. We know spider queen has a sizable set of builds in the dronecopter, and previous waves have included nice things like the little bull mech or boat, the demon bros racer, etc. plus In the context of the show, the current roster of villains doesn’t so much need vehicles compared to the heroes who, aside from mk, generally will primarily use vehicles to fight. Red son uses vehicles and tech and seems to be supplying spider queen with them as well, but macaque fights entirely with his powers, white bone spirit seems to fight entirely with her powers, and the demon bros seem to avoid fighting entirely when they can do anything they have will likely be smaller and less weaponized since they seem to just swoop in, capture people in the calabash, and get out before they can be stopped. Of course, new characters could change that and for all we know macaque and the demon bros will be busting out huge mecha in the show, but just given what we’ve seen so far, the lack of villain specific vehicles makes sense to me for this wave.

So the mechanic can cut away the signs with his big saw weapon (or another villain with another power/weapon should you have them) and break in and/or out to steal from the museum.

The torso seems to actually be a new outfit for sun wukong, and has already been seen in the show (I forget which episode but it’s when wukong is talking about fighting “seriously a lot of demons”) If this link works this is the suit in the show (not a leak, this episodes been out for months)

    Getting into watching Ninjago?

set way to watch the show is from the beginning. on netflix this is "ninjago masters of spinjitzu". that went for 10 season with 8-10 episodes per season. after that it transfers to the series labeled just as "ninjago", which shortens the episodes to 11 minutes each but has more per season. there is a special called "day of the departed" that takes place between seasons 6 and 7. the quality varies season to season, given it is a kids show, but improves significantly in seasons 8-10 which are one long arc, and after that in the "ninjago" seasons where it has a much more solid grasp on it's tone and identity with a new team of writers. not to say that the other seasons are bad per say, but they definitely slide a bit on how seriously you should take them, especially as the animation in the early seasons is... noticeably 10 years old cgi. the movie is a fully separate canon to the show, but is a fun side adventure. i would recommend watching it after season 5 since it does sorta spoil a status quo change involving one of the main characters of the show, but the sets show that character post-change anyway so it doesn't matter too much and is, taken on its own, a fun movie, and if you dont care about that one change, its a good sort of teaser to the kinds of things the series does. all in all, i'd say the best way to get into it is just to dive in. grab a few sets, especially from the legacy series, and watch while you build, getting to know the characters and world while you build them.

given that in the quadcopter, red is seemingly working with spider queen now, or possibly on his own, spider queen and her new minions may be the main villain faction this wave. id love for the horned demons to get their own set because theyre just fantastic in the show, but id also be more surprised if we dont get macaque this wave, since he had one of the shows best episodes and would be a great excuse to get wukong in another set as well since he seems to be the only one wukong considers worth coming out of retirement to fight. we have also been hinted that nezha could show up (the show has shown his weapons, and he's on a tv screen in the quadcopter set) so we may be seeing even more of an expanded cast on both sides this season. all in all, arachnoid base sounds like just what we've been hoping for in terms of getting more villains, and I'm hopeful the number between that and the quadcopter is another location, considering flower fruit mountain is on the box now i would expect wukong's mountain home to appear in some form. the jets, i dont know how to feel till i see them. the quadcopter managed to be a funky and interesting design enough for me to want it, and red son's had some good vehicles so far, so it could be good. im not expecting much from mei's jet but maybe theyll pull something off that can redeem her awful bike from wave 1. for the two smaller sets, im not sure what to expect. since we dont know the exact prices of them. could very well be an impulse set and a 20$ range one, could be 30-40$ range ones. i'd guess one is a hero side thing and one is a villain side thing, atleast one is a vehicle, and maybe one will be something along the lines of the "tournament of elements" type sets, maybe with mk, wukong, and macaque with their mountain battleground from ep 10. id be surprised if none of the sets included white bone spirit's new host, unless theyre doing 2 waves for this season like last time and are saving her for the second part of this year's line.

ultra sonic raider appears in seasons 1 and 2 in prominent roles, this is likely based around one of those depictions.
  23. All the other torsos shown ARE real, as far as I’ve seen, either from ninjago or from city. Most are either from ninjago city gardens or from the uncharted island series that’s coming in March!
  24. It’s a very clear image, is a civilian character other than the torso, and is, very, VERY clearly an updated ice planet torso. Logo, colors, fuzzy neck area, grey belt with a similar design to the grey section on classic ice planet figs. It also looks to me to have a print that would continue onto legs while the legs on the card are blanks. I’d post it but I’m pretty sure it counts as a leak since those cards haven’t been revealed yet. If cards don’t count I’ll gladly put the pic up! it’s the same character as the ice cream guy who works in the ice planet shop in the city gardens, but with a completely different torso to that which has not appeared anywhere yet, while the rest of the fig uses existing parts.
  25. So, while we don’t have exactly a “space theme” currently, i would argue we haven’t been as removed from them as we thought. say we do get a new space theme. Sets would probably include like, a flying vehicle with a deployable ground vehicle. A big rolling vehicle too, maybe with an exaggerated rocket engine area to really push it as being faster and more powerful than today’s vehicles. Maybe a big, showy mech set. Maybe a few little Buildings with some futuristic elements to them. A big base with some smaller vehicles maybe. Since it’s a modern theme you’d probably want atleast 2 factions. Maybe if the heroes side is smooth and colorful, the villains side is dark and angular. Probably a new color scheme too, say, the heroes use red and yellow with some teal accents, and the villains black and purple with firey red accents? Monkie kid. how about a theme where technology is the key to everything. A huge battle inside a tron-esque computer program, users using sci fi racing vehicles to battle programs over some kind of key to get out of the system? ninjago: prime empire how about a more grounded theme, where sci fi elements are invented as the theme goes and mounted on existing, modern day vehicles in order to deal with the themes given threat, with the technology getting more streamlined and sci fi as the theme continued? that was hidden side. Just because they aren’t set in space doesn’t mean these things aren’t perfectly good sci fi. They feature excellent parts, gorgeous set designs, and fun characters. While sure, I’d love a new -tron or another theme like galaxy squad or aliens conquest, heck even a mechs theme like exo force, the stuff that we do have is great! oh, also a torso design for a new ice planet team leaked in a ninjago trading card so... maybe that’s the rumored “returning classic theme” that’s been mentioned for this year.
