  1. Greetings. My latest build which I have been dragging my feet on for several months. Still need 1 or 2 small Bricklink orders to complete the railings and then it should be done. The prototype. Unfortunately, 'bar holder with clip' is not available in red, so I can't make the railings as prototypical as I'd like. I might switch these out to black but I think dark grey looks ok, although if they ever become available in red, then I'll obviously replace them. I know my lettering is over the red instead of the white, but when I was building up from the base, it looked weird with one less row of red brick. Plus it would have made the hood tricky. Decals are custom printed. This unit is powered by NWSL steel wheels that pick up 24V track power to feed a super capacitor bank. The unit can go for about 30ish seconds without track power and can recharge in about 15 seconds. No batteries. It's all controlled by Codefox's bluetooth motor controller which is powering 2 L motors. For the train nerds, you might notice that my porches are each 1 stud shorter than the ones on my Chessie SD40-2. This gives an overall length of 52 studs from magnet to magnet.
  2. I recreated these for a large western display an acquaintance was building. Not sure if there's a huge market for them. I printed them on my Roland LEC-330 and laser cut them after. Nice thing about laser cutting is that it prevents the edges from fraying. I don't have any of the original tepee bar /w knobs that's used to hold the thing up, so I had to get a little creative. Is anyone aware of other tepee art that I can use? Lego only made these two. They also made the plastic one that came in the Lone Ranger set, but I haven't done that one yet.
  3. Hello, I'd like to share something I've spent many hours creating, high quality vector art of sails from a bunch of old pirate ships. I sell preprinted laser cut copies of these on my eBay store: https://www.ebay.com/str/okbrickworks, but I am offering the art here for free for adventurous folks to try themselves. They will not be possible for most people to recreate at home due to the fact that they're printed fabric. But I guess you could always print them on paper? Anyway, feel free to check them out. The filenames should be fairly self explanatory I hope. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/91h3hf8b04ig5us/AAB970VzChl2BeqEZUsxbgI7a?dl=0

Improving the 71044 Disney Train (WIP and Idea thread)

I've got similar replacement stickers for the Lilly Belle on my website: https://www.okbrickworks.com/shop/vinyl-decals/lego-custom-decals/custom-replacement-stickers-for-71044-disney-train-ck-holliday-lilly-belle/

    Reproducing LEGO Sails

It's really fiddley to line up fabric perfectly to do double sided. And if it's even slightly off, the whole batch is ruined.

    Brick Train Awards Prizes

Nothing is stopping you from starting a lego train company and giving away a $200 prize. You do sound ungrateful.

    BrickTracks wheels

Very confusing reading this when you refer to the lego wheel holder as a bearing and are also talking about ball bearings in the same paragraph.

    Modified 71044 - C.K. Holliday - Disney

Damn! That's what it should have looked like to begin with! Glad the stickers worked out. I bet you're one of the only ones to add some extra carriages. Now I actually want to build one for myself!

    Modding the Barracuda thread

How it looks with the laser cut fabric sails I sell that were designed by Alazon. Available here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/293567432233

    Reproducing LEGO Sails

Im going to print a few batches of these on fabric and see how they turn out. Single sided since printing on both sides of fabric is impossible on my printer.

    Reproducing LEGO Sails

I have a vector copy here:
  15. Is there a file for that somewhere? More or less impossible to redraw that to scale just from the photo. And it would be for 10210, not the Barracuda?
  16. Added 10210 Imperial Flagship both to my pdf resources and to my eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/303548944697
  17. I haven't done those yet because the prices for originals on BrickLink were still fairly reasonable at last glance. Although I'm looking at the prices again and it'd run around $60-100 for a full set if bought from US sellers. Maybe I ought to take a look! My goal with selling the laser cut replicas and sharing the art is so people can relive the classic sets. They were a big part of my childhood and I hope they were and continue to be for other people as well.
  18. Added: 6057 Sea Serpent 6281 & 6296 Pirates Perilous Pitfall / Shipwreck Island I also have the outlines for the Queen Anne's Revenge ready, but don't really know how to do a good job on the background. https://imgur.com/1jrzoJU.jpg
  19. Many people know me from the decals I create through OKBrickWorks: https://www.facebook.com/OKBrickWorks I'm the main supplier of decals for several outfits, BrickModelRailroader, BrickTrainDepot, Barduck's Trains BricksNorthwest, in addition to some replica stuff I sell on eBay. I happened across a Facebook post a while ago about 3D printing 9V track, so I figured I'd give it a go. Behold: I have available: https://www.ebay.com/str/okbrickworks/Train-Track/_i.html?_storecat=3556274819 In 9V: R56, 72, 88, 104, 120 curves, and 8, 16, 32 stud straights. In 9V or RC: R216, 232, 248, & 264. (I don't have any of these listed on eBay but they are available on demand). If you email me directly to purchase, I can offer $0.25 discount per piece off the eBay prices. Currently being developed are R104 9V switches but they are pretty far off. All files are designed by and licensed from Nick Halliday. Original code 100 idea by SteveB. The video is poor, but that's a full R120 9V loop. What do you think?
  20. Lol you spent hours with me at BW. I had a full loop of r152 and r168 9v running the whole weekend!
  21. hehe, I added that bit after Steve's comment. The FB post I was referencing was by Nick Halliday, which is who created most of the models I print and sell. So far as I know, Steve was the one who had the original idea of using code 100. I'm not sure who first thought to 3d print the groove already in the track. Maybe it was Scott Hoffmeyer (who designed a few of the models I sell, by the way). Maybe it was someone else. I'm happy to keep making the track, although 9V isn't going anywhere until there is a new source for motors.
  22. Ive had mixed results from eBay sellers. I switched to Aliexpress a while ago and have been able to get consistent product from the same seller over multiple years of orders. I do add a tiny dollop of sewing machine oil into each bearing though. Most of these come with no lubrication, so while it may seem to spin very freely, it'll only last until the metal on metal contact starts to wear.

    Poor sticker quality for 60197

I do not include the stripes, although I can add them for an upcharge. Making the decals go to the edge of the brick generally is not a good idea. If you even slightly misalign the leading edge, the trailing edge will also be misaligned. I generally try to keep stickers within 0.5mm from the edge of brick. So a 1x2 tile is 8x16mm, the max size decal I would put on it is 7x15.
  24. I am not the OP and I have never made wheelsets using this method. All of mine are bearings pressed in to Technic bricks.
