Pixar Animation Studios and Films Discussion
Lord Rahl of Clannad replied to just2good's topic in Culture & Multimedia
While I have already posted about it in a different thread, I may as well post it here as it is relevant. I went to see Wreck-it Ralph today in the cinema with my GF. As with most of Pixar's films, I really enjoyed it. In my opinion it is one of the best of Pixar's films, up there with the likes of the first two Toy Story films (I didn't like the 3rd one (and of course I know I will probably get a lot of hate for it, but oh well)) and Up. It's a film I would gladly see more than once. I also liked it that Pixar once again took the time to make an animated short before the film. This one was called Paperman (or something like that) and was an interesting little short. It was also extremely appropriate for Valentine's Day. As for the Monsters University trailer, this one is a lot better and much more exciting than the initial trailer. I am very excited for this Pixar film, as I am when I see the trailers for most Pixar films. *EDIT* Ignore everything about Wreck-it Ralph being a Pixar film. I made a ridiculous mistake.- 279 replies

What was the last movie you watched?
Lord Rahl of Clannad replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Apologies for double posting I went to see Wreck-it Ralph at the cinema with the GF today, and I have to say that it is easily one of the best Disney films yet, easily up there with the likes of Toy Story and Up. I would gladly see it several times more, and it's not very often that I say that about a film. -
Legends of Chima future tribes ideas.

Squirrel (Good) Jaguar (Bad) Canary (Good) Rat (Bad) Badger (Good) Raccoon (Bad) Rabbit (Good) Killer Whale (Bad) I'm not sure how long it is going to take before I finally run out of ideas. After all, there is such variety of animals on our planet that we could suggest for this LEGO theme. If we see any of the suggestions in this thread, the most realistic option IMO would be Elephants. I already have an idea of how they could be converted into creatures appropriate for the world of Chima. In fact, that is a limiting factor. We will only see animals that can be easily converted into creatures appropriate for the world of Chima. -

I have more: Swan (Good) Koala Bear (Good) Wasp (Bad) Shark (Bad) Narwhal (Good) Lynx (Bad) The possibilities are well and truly endless. -
I have a few ideas on my mind, all of them DC at the moment: Harley Quinn's Hammer Truck Attack: £39.99 Minifigures: Harley Quinn, Batman (black suit) and a more comic-based Commissioner Gordon Includes Harley Quinn's Hammer Truck and a Batcycle for Batman Scarecrow's Biplane Hunt: £39.99 Minifigures: Scarecrow (same as one that appears in new Arkham Asylum), a Scarecrow Henchman (probably wearing a gas mask of some sort) and Flight Suit Batman (I have no idea what this would look like, but it would be something only used when in the Batcopter) Includes Scarecrow's Biplane with a gas bomb on the bottom and a Batcopter for Batman Killer Croc's Sewer Lair Battle: £19.99 Minifigures: Killer Croc (a new version), Toxic Suit Batman (some new suit to protect from poisonous chemicals found in the sewers) and Batgirl Includes a small lair structure for Killer Croc, a small jet-ski for Batman, a manhole cover on top of the lair and a small cage to contain Batgirl Clock King's Clock Tower Battle: £59.99 Minifigures: Batman (with glider wings rather than cape), Nightwing, Green Arrow, Clock King and his two henchmen (Tick and Tock) Includes a four-tiered clock tower structure with detailed interior, opening clock-face, stairs for heroes to climb to reach the top level to battle Clock King and a series of explosives at the bottom of the tower

Legends of Chima future tribes ideas.
Lord Rahl of Clannad replied to DarkSurgeXL's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
How could I forget such epic animals as those ? Anyways, this gives me yet another idea: a Seal tribe. I know we won't get very many of these, but I do seriously hope that LEGO gives us a few of them. -

You can add Otters to the massive list I made earlier. Sure they would be similar to Beavers, but I think it could still work well if done properly. *EDIT* Also add Butterflies to the list. Like I said, I have dozens of ideas and could ramble on with loads of them for ages. -

Elephant (Good) Tiger (Bad) Zebra (Good) Frog (Good) Camel (Bad) Penguin (Good) Moose (Bad) Toucan (Good) Giraffe (Good) Cheetah (Bad) Panther (Bad) Owl (Neutral, instead take on role of wise elders in mountains) Panda (Good) Boar (Bad) Meerkat (Good) Parrot (Good) Ant (Bad) Bat (Bad) To be perfectly honest I could go on about this for a while if I wanted to. -
Legends of Chima 2013
Lord Rahl of Clannad replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
As I have noticed. The pictures give different views of what we have already seen a lot of. My opinions haven't really changed on anything coming from this line. Mind you, I didn't expect my opinions to change. -
Perhaps I'm being slightly dim, but I'm not sure how that is worrying.

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
Lord Rahl of Clannad replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I believe that it is an exclusive set, so it will not be at the Toy Fair and we will not see pictures of it for a while, probably not until it is about to be released. -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Lord Rahl of Clannad replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
For the Man of Steel sets, I am not going to get particularly optimistic, if the Iron Man 3 sets are anything to go by. Even so, the Battle of Smallville sounds like it could be a good set, and LEGO has not made a bad £20 Super Heroes set yet IMO, so there is still hope for the Black Zero Escape set. Bring on pictures of the Man of Steel sets! -
LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion
Lord Rahl of Clannad replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
These Summer sets look very good. I like all of them and will almost certainly purchase all of them except the Corsair Ship, which is still nice but has the least appeal IMO. For its price range the Wizard Battle is an excellent set. The model is good and so are the minifigures (Gandalf the Grey is good to me for now as I still have yet to get him in another set). Saruman is exceptionally accurate and looks exactly as I imagined he would do. I had my doubts about the use of a minifigure head for the Palantir, but now that I have seen it I think it is a very good-looking concept. The Council of Elrond is a brilliant set in every way, The model captures the taste of Rivendell well despite its small price and the play feature is well executed. The highlight of this set IMO is the new elves, Elrond and Arwen. Both of them are excellent and very accurate, and I like the way that Elrond's cape has been done in two different colours, which is not something we see very often. Gimli and Frodo are very similar to their usual incarnations, and I do not mind seeing them here as I also haven't got my hands on a Gimli minifigure as of yet. Then, there is my personal favourite of this wave, the Black Gate. The model itself is impressive and it comes at a very reasonable price. The eagle is pretty good, but, as others have already said, it's unfortunate that it is unable to pick up minifigures as this is the main thing that the eagles do in the movies. Then I come onto the minifigures, which are the highlight of this set (ignoring the disappointing Mordor Orcs). For starters, the Aragorn minifigure is an excellent variant and our first taste of Gondor in LEGO minifigure form. Plus, his cape has two colours as well, which is a very nice feature. Then there's Gandalf the White, who looks precisely as he should do and is a prime example of the improvements in LEGO's ability to make more detailed and intricate minifigures. The we get onto the Mouth of Sauron, who is one of my favourite ever minifigures. The helmet is a wonderful and accurate mould and the face resembles that of the character as he appears in the extended edition of the Return of the King. Bring on Summer 2013!- 7500 replies

Legends of Chima 2013
Lord Rahl of Clannad replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Are we not going to get detailed pictures of these sets from FBTB? We've had pictures from them for most other themes but not this one as of yet. Oh well, it's not that bad as I have already decided what sets I want and what sets I don't thanks to Nuremberg. Bring on Summer 2013! -
The pictures that FBTB took from the New York Toy Fair make these sets look even better. I'm still not sold on the box art for any of the sets apart from Dragon Mountain, which is also easily my favourite set from this wave so far. I still don't like the Forest Ambush set, though all the other sets are on my want list. The dragon looks better and better each time, and quite frankly I don't think it needs to be much more detailed than it is, though more colour variety would be appreciated by me. I find it strange that this theme seems to be based on the Lions and the Dragons fighting for treasure. An interesting concept, but a very weird one as well. Bring on Summer 2013!

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
Lord Rahl of Clannad replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Having seen a closer view of the new Darth Maul, my opinion of it has entirely changed. He is actually pretty amazing ! There is no doubt in my mind now about buying 75022. Bring on Summer 2013! -
This is very interesting to hear. I'm not sure how such a thing would be useful, but you never know. As for this theme, it is absolutely stunning ! The attention to detail in a lot of places is superb. The sets are also brilliant, especially the train and the stagecoach. The only set that I completely dislike is the mine, which still looks like a random jumble of bricks to me Quite frankly, accurate or not, I will probably never find a jumble of bricks like that appealing. It wouldn't look good with the rest of my sets at all. Bring on this theme's UK release, whenever that is!

As an avid CMF collector, I find myself pretty annoyed that LEGO have decided to place the CMF Santa in the Advent Calendar, thus making its role in the CMF series entirely redundant. Not a good choice TLG .

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
Lord Rahl of Clannad replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Well, these pictures are revealing, to say the least... I had high hopes for the new Darth Maul, but he looks horrible ! The legs aren't bad but the rest of it is awful. However, the Mandalorian Super Commandos are not that bad, but they aren't great either. The new Advent Calendar looks very nice and I like how they made Santa Jango. Speaking of Jango, his normal variant is stunning . Easily my favourite minifigure of the wave from those pictures, although that Poggle the Lesser is also very good. Coleman Trebor is also a very good minifigure and adds even more variety to the already diverse world of LEGO Jedi. Bring on Summer 2013! -

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
Lord Rahl of Clannad replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
At the moment I'm not going to judge very many of these sets, but I will judge the Mandalorian Speeder and the Corporate Alliance Tank Droid. Both are interesting but not particularly memorable models, but the ultimate selling point is the minifigures included. The Mandalorian Speeder will have the Darth Maul with cybernetic legs and the Mandalorian Super Commandos, which I am very excited for, especially the new Maul. As for the Corporate Alliance Droid, it comes with a long overdue remake of Jango Fett. I have wanted one for so long, and this set will finally be my opportunity to get one at a reasonable price. Bring on Summer 2013! -
Lego Marvel Superheroes Game Announced
Lord Rahl of Clannad replied to MattZitron's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
How likely is it that this game will have the characters that we are set to see in the upcoming Iron Man 3 sets (Mandarin, Eric Savin, Aldrich Killian, the new Iron Man suits, Tony Stark, Pepper Potts)? -
Wow! That is an absolute beauty of a set! The minifigures also look very nice up close and personal. Of course, the highlight is the wonderful train! I'm a sucker for LEGO trains, and this masterpiece is no exception! However, whilst I do like all the train track that comes with it, it is kind of impractical for me as I currently haven't got much shelf space for my LEGO, and I can tell that this would take up a hell of a lot of room. Also, when are these sets coming out in the UK?

Legends of Chima 2013
Lord Rahl of Clannad replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Well two of those will be available in the next Sun newspaper promotion ( Ewar's Acro Fighter won't be as it is a LEGO S@H exclusive). This leaves me with one question: what will the other Chima polybag be?
