Why not have a Mythology or History Theme Lego Sets

I have to agree that pirate and elf sets aren't mutually exclusive. However, I'd love to see some ancient mythology sets. Obviously it's wishful thinking, but an entire run of sets could be made from Homer's Illiad and Odyssey alone. Trojan horse, cyclops, sirens/ship, etc. etc. Lego wouldn't even need to spend any time on the war aspect involved, and could focus simply on the fantastical. With this, an historical Greek/Roman series could be quite exciting as well. Coliseum and gladiator sets, a town series of ancient buildings, 7 wonders sets, etc.

No Castle Advent set for North America

Everyone says we get things so much cheaper here in the US, but that doesn't mean Lego is cheap here. It's VERY expensive when compared to the knock off brands. Obviously you get what you pay for, but the average theme costs almost a week's pay for the average household. Relative to the world it's cheap, but relative to the local market it's not even close. If I were to ask my boss to buy one from England while he's visiting family it would cost me 40 to 50 dollars, or the same price as a Dwarve's Mine. At that price it's just not worth it for the 2 or 3 figures I really want from the set. I'll check Bricklink and Ebay, but since it's widely known in the Lego community that these are in high demand in the US, I can expect inflated prices. I agree that Lego shouldn't pick and choose where they distribute sets. It really makes me wonder how they determine a theme's success when they could be cutting out entire markets. I'm of the opinion that Lego should use retail stores for focused marketing and use their online S@H to offer everything. I also agree that it's doubtful a simple warning is what has caused the distribution problem. I would hazard a guess that it's simple supply and demand. Lego probably didn't take the US market into account when it planned production, and now it's too late to go back and add it. It's like how the teacher treated gum chewing in school. If you don't have enough for everyone then you can't have any. Rather then include the US and limit the total number for the rest of the world, Lego decided to stick with their original plan so they'd have enough.

    Key Chains

Wouldn't it just be cheaper and less of a headache to purchase the figures on Bricklink? I know there are solvents for glues that can be purchased at local hobby shops, but I don't know what type was used on these figures. There are some glues that actually 'weld' the plastic together; in a sense making it one piece.

    Evil Wizard Tricks

I don't even know where to begin, so I won't. Awesome!

    LEGO opens new brand stores

Still no stores within 6 hours. You'd think Lego would be dying to put one in NC considering how far the nearest stores are. There are 2 an hour from each other in Virginia and none in NC.

    Max Payne and Mona Sax

Well I guess it's possible, but it hasn't happened yet IMHO.(RE, Doom, Double Dragon, Super Mario Bros, St Fighter, Wing Commander, etc.) ;) Back to the topic though. You said you used a Sharpie, did it blend well or is it really noticeable?

No Castle Advent set for North America

This a very sad day. I've been looking forward to this set since I first saw pictures of it months ago. I had set aside cash for 3 and now I don't have one to look forward to. I really hope they release ALL the figures in other sets because I really wanted that court jester. Maybe Lego will bless us NA folks with a minifig pack similar to the city one with lots of random town goers and court officials. Even if it was a simple impulse set with the Jester and Maiden I'd be happy. Alas. Maybe I'll go buy Force Unleashed after all, seeing as how I now have extra moolah.

    Max Payne and Mona Sax

Simple yet effective. Definitely two nice custom figs. I think the movie will be tanking horribly, much to my dismay, but that's what happens when games try to be movies.

No Pirates in 2009 LEGO lineup?

I would not be shocked to discover that Pirates is a summer a release. They are making quite a deal out of the Power Miners and I can understand their desire to not dilute enthusiasm across two 'new' lines. Yes the pirates are a rebirth of an old line, but to young kids it's brand new.

    Wonderful Terraced town with castle

This is absolutely astounding work. My stuff pales in comparison to creations like this. I wonder how heavy that beast is.

    Bullion Hills Mining Co.

This is excellent. I especially like the ramshackle feel of the whole thing. This is a very characterful creation.

    Trying to design windows...

I was thinking you might be able to use 2 of THESE directly above 1 of THESE. There are tons of window types available on bricklink, but some can be pricey. 2 sets of those would make the entire construction 8 studs wide.

    Baby White Base

That is excellent! It definitely captures the feel of White Base.

    Crazy Japanese guy

Is there more information about that piano? If it's functional, does it house a true piano's workings or did he use electronics or something? I find it hard to believe that legos could handle the stresses that regular piano wires put on things. I could be wrong, but I think it's somewhere north of 1000 pounds of pressure. Either way it's incredible. Also, I seem to recall coming across pictures of that dinosaur 5 or 6 years ago. At the time it was still being built and had pictures of the inner structure. It's not solid, which was amazing to me considering how heavy it must be once complete.

    AT-TE Comparison - 4482 vs. 7675.

If forced to choose I have to go with the new one, but I'm not really a fan of either of these vehicles. I don't like the empty and unfinished feeling they have. The lack of floors is sad, and I don't really like the free swinging middle legs and rubber band driven front/back legs. I do like the double canons at the front end and how they are hidden and fired by the same construction. In the end though, this new one will be one of the first Clone Wars sets to get taken apart while the RGS will stay together for a while.
