    42056 - Porsche Speculation

I spent last day reading news and comments regarding the new Porsche and agree with those who say that this is for us, AFOLs. We requested a special Technic model from TLG and here it is. What is more, it seems to be a first piece of an advanced model series, UCS Technic. So first of all, thank you TLG. I really appreciate that they put at least 2 years of engineering in this set. 42056 Porsche is must buy for me. Not just because it has great functionality and nice design but because it is worth the price IMO. It is good for collectors because it will at least hold its value and is a piece of Technic art. And it is good for MOCers because it will inspire great future MOCs in orange colour. Altough I like the chosen colour of the Porsche, purple was my first choice. I can live with that. Paddle shifting is awesome. Working steering wheel, suspension and fake engine is a must in this league. And agree with those who say that there is no need for RC or PF, just manual functions. One thing I really miss function-wise is working brakes so I will try to modify it that way after a while. But first I'm going to build and enjoy it in June with my girlfriend. And will not care about ppp and stickers at all.

[MOC] Modular Garage with PF and Pneumatics

Amazing! Very clever use of pneumatic parts (especially the manometer and air tank). I like when these are combined with other themes than Technic. Congratulations!

I was thinking about small battery box or rechargable too. For lights and for (future) small motor. That would make sense IMO.

No RC but probably PF because of lights. It was highlighted on the preliminary box if I remember correctly.

Thank you for the link. 911 minutes would be much better.

For example in the top-left corner of Cranes pic huge part of 9391 covered by 42043. Big sets overlap each other partly in category pics (Cranes, Loaders, BigRigs). I know it is nearly impossible to put everything in one pic without having partial overlapping (tried myself a couple of times) but for me it is joy to see all the details when comparing sets in one pic.

Thanks for great work Blakbird. I like1999 because of 8448 SSS. It is one of my favourite LEGO Technic supercars. Two things came to my mind readng Technicopedia again. None of them means big work but immediate improvement IMO. - Texts of categories: could be updated to 2015 because there are sentences that stay out (for example regarding Cranes: "8421 and 42009 are by far the most complicated" <> 42043). This would increase coherence which is ultimate for proper reference. - Pictures of categores : some sets are almost completely hidden by pics of other sets and also pics could be updated to 2015 (for example 42043 is missing from BigRigs category).

Great news! I like it has no PF but probably authentic functions. Oragne is ok. Must have for me.
  9. Sariel, that is an amazing review, great nostalgia, thank you. Hope you will continue retrospective reviews regarding Technic / Model Team flagships of the past. I received 5580 and 5550 in my childhood as Chritmas presents but never got 5571. It was a holy grail for me until 2009 when I bought it from my friend in MIB condition as an adult. I liked the set so much that I purchased an intact original sticker sheet for the set. It was well worth the wait. For me the only negative thing is the lack of double wheels on the rear axels. Narrow-minded step by the manufacturer considering the huge price. For me 5571 is just perfect from every other aspect. Super detailed exterior and interior, engine (IMO it shouldn't have moving pistons because Model Team is not about technical solutions). I like the coffee machine and TV inside the cockpit. Chrome silver parts give proper characteristic to this beauty. You will never regeret purchasing it. Nowdays Creator Expert line could create something similar but unfortunately Model Team will hardly ever come back. 5571 in the center of my MT collection: http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=6107518

    Purchased 8860

@RohanBeckett I also have it with chrome taps and I think it is pretty rare. Some of 8860 and original 8858 came with chrome taps but I know nothing more about this. Somebody?

    Purchased 8860

I saw 8860 in catalogues as a child but could not afford. This was the second Technic set I purchased after dark ages in 2006. Now it is part of my collection. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=429865 Magnificent model, IMO the best supercar right after 8880. Enjoy.

Geneva motor show is ongoing and there is no sign of the Porsche LEGO. Do we have a clear date for revealing?
  13. I also plan to build 8859 Tractor. I liked it so much as a child but never got back then. I purchased it right after my dark ages and it met my expectations. I'm going to buy 8284 Tractor as well and put these three next to each other for comparsion. I have high anticipation regarding Claas and will MOC it definitely. I wonder if 4WD and fake engine could be implemented instead of PF with the same steering.
  14. Repairing the display models. I mean broken wires, broken thin LEGO pieces, cracked stickers, yellowed white pieces by time, even they are kept hidden from direct sunlight...
  15. Just my thoughts. This year's 2H lineup is really fascinating. I'm sure TLG listened to us and all the sets aimed at AFOLs in the first place. I will definitely buy all of them and very curious if the designers at Billund can enhance the level further in 2017 (for me a super backhoe using Pneumatic2 and compressor could). But as for 2016 2H sets from my collector perspective: 42053 Volvo: originally I was looking forward to this set the most and I still like it, although, it could have been better. I support the collaboration idea with a real construction or truck company because these have delivered remarkable pieces of Technic so far (Unimog and Volvo loader come to my mind). I don't think this adds to the price anything because of the win-win situation. And it is welcomed they chose the mid range this time for the Volvo. I can believe it has 1100+ pieces to be accurate and Pneumatic2 with new manual pump is the winner for me here. My problem is that outriggers and front blade lack pneumatic, superstructure to be turned by hand, and there is not even a gear system to improve playability of these parts. 42054 Claas Tractor: this thing is a real surprise and completely unique. Driver's cabin lifting-turning and different steering modes are pure awesome. New wheels and rims come handy. I also like the rear crane (it could have been done by using pneumatic but it is good this way either) and sure there will be fantastic rear attechments created by enthusiasts soon after release. There was a comment regarding it is as MOC-able set as the Unimog and I agree. It uses PF but it could have been flagship-like set even with only manual features. I would rate it even higher if it had 4WD and fake engine instead of PF to be honest. 42055 BWE: this is a monster and very special. Like the others, I will hardly find a place for that in my room but this is not a real problem. I think TLG really pushed the limit with this set and tried out a completely different kind of machine, a mining one. We all wanted a diversive thing than just another excavator or crane and here it is. So well done and great thanks to TLG on my part. I'm glad with the colour combination and with the great functions carried out by a single motor. If only lifting the arm was also motorised. Little dump truck adds more playability to this set. Truly a flagship. But wait, here is another one. 42056 Porsche: probably this is the crown jewel, the Technic UCS and the new standard for Technic supercars. But only speculation here. I'm sure it will come in special colour (lava orange or violet) and with superb functions even with PF (lamp on box indicates this) but I see no evidence for RC. I would most like a manual version of the real supercar, a true successor to the 8880 with sequential gear shifting, working brakes, adjustable suspension, 4 wheel steer, adjustable seats and so on. Probably the features are not final yet and set is under testing (and camouflage is there on purpose). Hope we will know the final details around Geneva motor show...

    42056 - Porsche Speculation

I hope it is the first option and a true supercar this time with as many authentic functions as they can do. Do you think colour is final yet for the production car or they can still change it if they realize what most people want?
  18. My suggestion is to vote for best Technic set first from the period of 1977-2000 and then redesign the winner by TLG as an exclusive set with special box edition.

    Pictorial Review: 8455 Backhoe/Wheel Loader

+1 It is still the best mid-sized set, pneumatic paradise. I chose this one as AFOL in 2006 to return to Technic and was completely hooked. Since then I collected all the valuable flagships but 8455 is something special. You can not make it better.

    2016 Lego trains

@Paperballpark That is really sad. Anyway thank you for your message. Rare happens we receive any information crumbs from designers (even if it is indirectly) regarding production decisions, so these are highly appreciated. I didn't know that Creator Expert trains weren't great sellers and hope this does not mean they have cancelled this line.

    2016 Lego trains

Hope dies last. Probably there is a secret train project somewhere in the vault. I would prefer Mallard, VT601 TEE, Shinkansen 100 or even the Creator Expert version of 7740.

    2016 Lego trains

If this is true, it is a shame for LEGO. Can someone confirm there will be no Creator Expert Train in 2016 to celebrate 50 years of LEGO trains?

Blakbird, thank you for your tremendous effort to update Technicopedia. The new pictures are fabulous and really refresh the site. And it was joy to read all that thing about Barcode Multi-set, now I intend to build all the alternative models.
