2015 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

High quality video from the Nuremberg fair, the first minute is City: I am pretty excited about the City Square set. It goes well with the 2013 town square set, and there is so much additional stuff. I could have done without the flatbed truck, and the service station is a bit too plain to go with modulars, but I really like the rest. ETA: I am just noticing that the City Square set comes with a husky. Great, so I won't have to get the Advent calendar. ;-)

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Wow! This will fill the style gap between previous official modulars and my own modern City-ish, Friendish, Creator MOCs. I am so happy with this, but let me drool over it for another hour before I can say more. TLG, the only downside for you is that I no longer feel the need to buy the Friends Barber set next year.

2015 Friends Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Lots of pictures from more angles: http://www.spielware...9b69fc5&b=&sas= There's no way I can resist the bunny babies. And Emma's House has a lovely color (light lavender).
  4. According to 1000steine forum, yes, since Saturday. http://www.1000stein...316752#id316752 (My local Kaufhof didn't have any yesterday, but they said they could arrive any day.)
  5. The other Creator building can be seen at http://www.familiens...trandhuette.jpg . Reminds me a lot of 31009 Small Cottage, just yellow instead of red.
  6. I love the dark-blue roof design (I'll get the set for this alone), there appear to be sand-green bricks in it and dark-red 1x1 round tiles and printed newspaper tiles and a nice collection of tan window frames. Very useful.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

If Paperballpark, who was the first to say we'd get a DA, is right, then I presume he'll also be right with saying the release will be on Jan 1.

Contest Turtle Contest - Entry Thread

This is my first entry to this competition; I went for cuteness. (I haven't had a look at the other entries yet). P1190850 by sgeureka, on Flickr Edited to only say: I'd have loved to follow the rules and "Post each entry in a single post in this thread." However, the forum's settings always auto-combine my posts, so consider everything below as a new post. My second attempt of a turtle; this time I went for tininess. Expand the Winter Village Contest IV

^^I haven't had bad voting experiences in past contests. Few people would do the spread sheet analyses and vote late to have a strategic effect on the results. Also, I won something when I was a total newbie here and people didn't know me. I am a 100 percent certain that the 3 winners (out of 54 people) will deserve their prize. Too bad for the next few ranks who also had great entries, but then they certainly didn't get overlooked in the voting process for your stated reasons.

Expand the Winter Village Contest IV

Call me dumb-struck for the great ideas and implementations people could come up with in that short amount of time since the (new) contest rules were revealed. I hope that if there is another winter village contest next year, eurobricks makes new unforeseeable rules again.

  13. Picture (copy from below) to be used for the voting thread (as per mod request): Original entry presentation below: What's a Winter market without a woodcraft stall? I present my entry for the 2013 Expand the Winter Village Contest: Horst's Holzkunst (Horst's Woodcraft), where Horst and his wife Hanni from the Ore Mountains sell their wooden Christmas goods. The roof may be leaking, but the main draw is the giant pyramid atop. Combined: Back to more woodcraft in the stall: More pictures at my Flickr account.

2014 Friends Sets - Rumours and Discussion

It's confusing at this point. E.g. on the German S@H site, it says you'll get the polybag for Friends orders over EUR 55, but the polybag already showed up in my virtual shopping cart at EUR 41 (probably even less) of Friends products. I mean I'll take it anyway.
  15. Thank you all for the compliments. Oh, that's what it is. I got it in a Pick a Brick spree and wondered what it was originally designed for. I followed the contest rules, and they say nothing about labeling it "market" (they literally recommend "Winter Village"), so I am not worried. Thank you for liking it. A lot of inspiration came from the Christmas markets in the (German) Ore Mountains to the North-West of the Czech Republic, see the wikipedia article on "Wooden toymaking in the Ore Mountains". The Alps are still very far away by European Standards.
  16. Most of us have chosen the 16x16 design so far, so actually seeing four 8x8 designs is refreshing. I like how each stall is unique, and a white icey Christmas tree is also something I've never seen. Good work.

Winter Village: Games Booth (contest entry)

A lot of thought and skill went into this entry. I love the water splash effect (I have tons of these Chima pieces and don't know what to do with them), and I like how there is "more" behind the main building.
  18. Oh boy, how bad the other stalls must be buried below snow. :-) I admire the creative thought. It's gonna be hard though to mix it with the rest of the winter market.

Winter Village: A Visit with Santa

I like the unobtrusive mixing of Friends and City, Santa's chair, the camera+stand. This cute entry makes me smile in a heart-felt way.
  20. Oooh, the lightbricks really do it for me, very nice. I also love how the workers care for body protection. :-)

Winter Village: Friends Dunk Tank (Contest Entry)

Combining Friends with mechanical interactions is counter-intuitive, and so is the idea of a dunk tank at a winter market. But I really like it. It's a funny entry.
  22. The train is cute. I admire your mechanical work (I suck at this). Thanks for the animation.
  23. Now that I've published my contest entry, I can finally have a look at other people's great work. I struggled with my (independent) attempt of a Christmas pyramid, but your choice of doing vertical posts is smart *and* pretty. I love that you motorized your pyramid.

    10243 Parisian Restaurant

I am really pumped about this. I didn't expect any images that early, and the building is just beautiful. Love it, love it, love it. I can't wait to get it.
