I have a very large collection and would like to sell. There are multiple themes, including Creator / City / Technic / Mindstorms / Friends / StarWars / Ninjago / HarryPotter / Castle / Trains / First Lego League / ... Some are still in sealed boxes, others hard to find. The collection is worth around 40~50 k$, but willing negotiate for someone to buy large chunks at once. If there is interest I can list sets for the relevant themes.

I occasionally see those for sale on eBay ... I asked a large store here if they could sell theirs and they said those technically belong to Lego, and Lego people will take them back in some time. Any idea where one can get them ... at reasonable cost of course?

Not sure anyone reported on this, but found a new GBC (haven't seen it before) on u-tube.

Technic Tessellations
DrJB posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Some of my favorite parts are below, and I have a relatively large collection of them. I sometimes use them to build 'periodic' structures and, while doing so, and 3D printing some Escher 'lizards' in the background, the idea of Tessellation came up, and I did the two shapes below. What other 'tessellations' you know of (or you can come up with) using primarily the parts listed above? Of course, you need not restrict yourself to only those. -
This appears to be a puzzle and I have seen few contraptions (or proposals for new parts) that various people have attempted. Picture this: You want to transfer an air-line (or electric wire) between the bottom of a crawler (track-drive) to the top superstructure ... and you want to do this without twisting the air-hose ... Most will say 'impossible'. Well, not quite (and hence the reason behind this thread). This is a classical problem in mathematical topology, and was resolved a while back. In the picture to the left, the wire will twist if the blue part rotates. In contrast, in the right figure, the air-hose will not twist. It will however bend back and forth once per revolution and is thus a good idea to make the radius of curvature a bit large so as not to damage the wiring after multiple cycles.

[REVIEW] 42129 - 4x4 Mercedes-Benz Zetros Trial Truck
DrJB replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The set looks nice, and the review is well done. However, like others on here, Lego sets have become rather expensive lately, with little playability besides the RC drive/steer functions. How many RC vehicles can TLG come up with and bring novelty/interest now and then? -
They already have 'lego jewelry' for girls ... with all sort of pastel colors.
-
Not too impressed by the Adidas shoe (opinions differ here, obviously). Except for the build/sculpting, not much of a play value or something to look at at length. Not sure how much they'll sell of the set either as it appears of very 'limited' appeal. What else is TLG going to come-up with, maybe some Victoria's Secret (or LaSenza if you're in Canada) inspired items to boost their sales?

Just updated the list. Somehow the first time around the list was empty :(

Thank you for your interest. The prices are below for the new sets (there are few more assembled sets, will post a list later). The prices are based on Bricklink (low end) and of course, better than eBay. We can do some discount if you buy multiple sets. Last, I'm in Chicago, so you need to add shipping and insurance if desired. 42054 2x $ 250.00 4842 1x $ 275.00 8070 4x $ 275.00 8404 1x $ 220.00 7962 1x $ 150.00 3368 1x $ 160.00 41999 3x $ 450.00 76023 1x $ 400.00 8461 1x $ 1000.00 7571 1x $ 60.00 9396 1x $ 230.00 9394 1x $ 80.00 7208 1x $ 230.00 8450 1x $ 180.00 8482 1x $ 230.00 8258 2x $ 500.00 8043 1x $ 500.00 8376 1x $ 370.00 10256 1x $ 450.00 42009 1x $ 360.00 42042 1x $ 290.00 8996 1x $ 260.00

Gantry robot, superfast up/down/left/right/forward/backwards.
DrJB replied to Mr Jos's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thank you very much. I was not aware such part existed :). In fact, the same 'screw' mates with the following part, from the 41130 Friends RollerCoaster Set. -

Can you kindly clarify the connection between the red/helical axle and the gray parts? Do those have smooth hole or something else ? -
Multiple Technic Sets for Sale - I hope ok with Mods
DrJB replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thank you Milan, appreciate the feedback. Cheers. -
Greetings All, I have about 20 sealed Technic (new) I'd like to sell, ideally all at once. They were meant to be part of a bigger project but now I've concluded I need to downsize and keep my collection manageable. The sets include 8070/42054/8258/8043/41999/42042 and few more. Is it ok to post a complete list of available sets in here? I reckon this is not the buy/trade sub-forum but since most sets are Technic, I thought it'll have more visibility on here and I'd need run this by the mods first.

Stunning set and review ... but then again, I wouldn't expect anything less from Jim. For those of us who've used such machines, this takes me back 30+ years... when some on here were not even 'conceived' yet In any event, my favorite detail is the switch on the top right, that moves the 'ink' ribbon/bobbins up/down to change the color between red/black. Absolutely a very nice/realistic detail. I wonder though how many of these TLG will actually sell ... as I'm not sure a large segment of the population would identify with such 'dinosaurs'. Or maybe some people would buy the set just for the metal/chrome parts, and there are many of them.

Will there ever be 100% Technic Models ?
DrJB posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Many of us have seen the evolution of Technic when it started with 'modified' system parts (e.g. System Bricks with Technic holes) into the plethora of Technic only parts we have today (lift-arms, connectors, gears, ...) However, still, Lego tends to still use a small amount of System parts such as the 1×1 round tile for lights and curved slopes for styling. Also, while the percentage content of system parts in official technic sets has dropped substantially over the past few years, we still see parts with 'dormant' DNA strands that never get used in Technic sets. For example, the engine block with its 4 studs on the top, or the bushing with 4 indentations. The question is: Would TLG ever move to 100% Technic parts only in official sets? This would require new part that are as functional as existing ones, yet with only technic-style connections. No one really knows what TLG is simmering for us, this thread is more to address this question and get a feel for the community's opinions/feels/desires. -
Will there ever be 100% Technic Models ?
DrJB replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very interesting discussion thus far. I'm an 'old-school' guy, mechanical engineer, and to me Technic is about mechanisms, moving parts, linkages, kinematics, gears, etc ... Unfortunately, lately styling has become ever more important than the hidden mechanical functions, and TLG is pursuing aggressively shape/forms over function. Not sure what that will accomplish in the end, though let's just call it a Technic Evolution phase ... In the coming few years we'll see where that leads us. In all honesty though, the 8455 and 8043 were masterpieces in mechanical functions ... whereas the Porsche/Sian/Bugatti emphasized more the styling. Why not both ... well ... ? -
42113 Osprey, Mods and improvements
DrJB replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
A bit off-topic, but what is really the deal with this set? I see it is not widely available for purchase, and commanding very high prices on ebay and other places. -
That surely is an impressive build. I'm debating whether you're a Harry Potter fanatic, or simply have a lot of time on your hands Thank you for sharing.

Simply stunning ... Looks like an urchin on wheels. -
chaotic pendulum kinetic sculpture
DrJB replied to Diamabolo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Simply beautiful, thank you for sharing. I'm sure Ed Lorentz and Francis Moon would appreciate. I'm thinking that, if the CG's of the individual frames cold be brought closer to the rotation axes, maybe the time it takes to settle down would increase substantially. But again perfect contraption as it is, just me thinking how it can be modified. *Cheers* -
Not sure this was ever reported here, but nonetheless it is worth a 're-visit' ... I stumbled upon the MOC below, it is not pure lego as the author added some custom hardware. The end result is a truly flying RC 9396. Enjoy! https://modellfliegersprossen.wordpress.com/hubschrauber/ein-lego-technic-hubschrauber-lernt-fliegen/

Crazy Contraptions that Use Lego Parts (formerly: Flying LegoCopter)
DrJB replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Personal Insult? ... when you ARE the original sinner/attacker? I was expecting an apology from such an 'accomplished' individual. Who are you to speak on behalf of the whole forum? Self-appointed Lego-I-don't-know-what? I've known Lego since before you were born, and been on this forum while you were still soiling your diapers!!! Better yet, the two books of yours that I bought, they go in the garbage bin now. You think getting free lego sets and reviewing them (because you can't afford them yourself) entitles you to 'special status' on here? Grow Up, show 'some' maturity (assuming you're capable of) ... this thread is simply NOT for you!!! To the rest you: Apologies, but this is proof that some of us do not take fame too well.
