Hinckley's been visiting the Department of Redundency Department. Thanks for the feedback, Hinck. I've been going over the game in my head for the past few weeks. About the only thing I wish I had done a bit different was on Day 4, switching my vote to def a lot earlier than I did. Once the Watcher, the Protector and the Bodyguard were revealed, I was the only PR that def had under his thumb. I should have stepped into the light at that point, and switched to Helena, and try to bring the rest of the Town with me. Not sure if it would have worked, but I probably should have tried. -

8128 - Cad Bane's Speeder - Star Wars Cad Bane's Speeder.mpd Errors: Cad Bane has the wrong Head print Cad Bane's rebreather is wrong. I used the firefighter air hose instead. The Senate Commando has the wrong helmet. The Senate Commando Commander has the wrong helmet and wrong Torso print. Alama has the wrong Head print and the wrong Torso print. All Stickers are missing. I'm beginning to see why the Star Wars sets have so many gaps. I couldn't even find a Phase I Clone Trooper helmet in LDraw. It's not like the plain trooper is in 11 sets, plus at least a dozen more with the different prints (Commanders, Rex, Gunner, etc.). Not to mention all the missing Head prints. It makes it difficult to put the minifigs into the models. .- 2222 replies

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Walter Kovacs replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yes, there is. You do need a BL account first, though. On the Wanted tab, if you look towards the bottom, there are several links. One is labeled "Part Out a Set". You will need to know the set number, and there are a few other choices to make, but it will upload the entire inventory into a wanted list for you. Oh, make sure the "Set Minimum Desired Quantity" checkbox is checked. Otherwise, it will only populate 1 of each piece in your list. And you wouldn't want that, now would you? Once in a wanted list, there is a check box to "Query Shops". It will list which shops have the parts you want. Very handy. -

I was fooling around with LPub for the first time in a long time, and an issue came up. While I could see all of the filenames that are in my .mpd file in the dropdown on the LPub toolbar, I could only see the instruction pages for the first .ldr from the .mpd file. Is it possible to get LPub to render the other .ldrs contained in my .mpd file, or do I have to do it the brute force way (move each .ldr to the top of the list, then open in LPub and render the instructions one sub-model at a time)? Also, I could have sworn when I used LPub a few years ago, it was able to use POV-Ray as it's renderer. Is that no longer the case? Thanks in advance for your help.

LPub and MPD Files
Walter Kovacs replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I figured out why I'm having problems with the number of sub-model callouts. I'm trying to word this so you don't get completely lost. Suppose you have submodel A, which is used in two submodel Bs and one Submodel C. Submodel B is built first. So when the instructions for Sub A come up, it gets a x2, and the third one for Sub C gets lost in the shuffle. I have no clue how to fix this, other than using a .PDF editor to change the number of instances, or putting a qualifying message into the instructions, something along the lines of "On page 43, make three instead of two." Way cool. -
LPub and MPD Files
Walter Kovacs replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Alrighty then. Moving the complete assembly up to the top did what I wanted it to. But a new problem has cropped up. Now whenever I use a sub-assembly multiple times, LPub tries to give me a x2 or x4, etc. Only the numbers are wrong. Instead of building something 3 times, it only gives me 2 times. Or if it is used 6 times, it gives me a x4. I'm not sure how to get LPub to recognize the error of it's ways. The instructions are looking better. It's progress. -

LPub and MPD Files
Walter Kovacs replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanks, Kristel and Bill. While all of the submodels are in the same .mpd file, none of them are referenced in the first .ldr file. Which explains why they aren't having the instructions generated. I suppose I could start combining .ldrs using buffer exchanges, but I won't be able to do that for the entire MOC. I think I have 30+ .ldr files, and MLCad is limited to 26 exchanges. That's not a bad thing, as having 420 steps in one .pdf is going to make it pretty substantial. Better to make it three or four .pdfs, similar to TLG having two or three instruction booklets. Back to work... -
So if Hinckley passes you an invention, he's clearly scum. He said so right here.

Thank you all for the comments. I've gotten the steps for instructions done. I'm just working my way through LPub to make them snazzy. Then it's on to Bricklink, which will likely take several months to gather everything. Hopefully it will hold together when it becomes physical. I think it will. @KDM, yes, this is the first time I have used that Power Miners drill piece. It seems natural for that area, I'm not sure why I never thought of it before. And if you liked the renders, then look forward to Walter Kovac's Holiday Camp, the first (that I know of) Rendered EB Mafia game </shameless plug>

Hello all. The "Where have the MOCers gone?" topic inspired me to take up the mantle and resume my quest to produce UCS versions of all the TIE variants. I have resumed with one that I have done before, the TIE/D, or TIE Defender. In fact, I have 3.5 other versions. But I wasn't satisfied with how version 2.8 turned out, and version 3 had some structural issues. So, Revision 4 was born, designed completely from scratch. This is still very much a WIP. I still need to design a UCS style stand for it, and many of the parts are 'floating'. That is, they are in the correct position, but supports, pins, axles and other parts that are hidden from view are missing. TIE Defender, 3/4 view: On Stand: Side View: Rear View: Cockpit without Windscreen: This MOC differs from all of my other UCS TIEs in that the solar panels are brickbuilt, not built out of plates and wedge plates. It's the same technique used in the UCS Imperial Shuttle. I also borrowed the trim method from TLG's most recent TIE Fighter, though I used a mixture of clips and the old style 2 and 3 finger hinge plates. The top hatch should be able to open and close, at least somewhat. I know it won't be able to go up 90 degrees. All parts are available in the colors shown, except for those robot arms at the front of the cockpit. Those are supposed to be Pearl Copper, but they didn't render quite right. I have every intention of building this eventually, once the design is completes and I can gather the parts off of Bricklink. For those interested, the MOC currently sits at 1436 parts, with at least 100-200 more to be added. Constructive Comments and Criticisms are more than welcome. This is still a WIP, so there's time to make changes before I start ordering parts. EDIT: Added a render with the completed stand. I am currently generating the instructions, which is where I usually find interferences and get a general sanity check.

I own all four of the "original" sets, and I am definitely picking both new sets up. But when I collect sets, I prioritize on CW era sets, so my view may be biased.
