What are your Lego Star Wars collecting habits?

Minor quibble, TLG's only released one 'set' for KOTOR: the Darth Revan poly The others are TOR (no "Knights Of" in front of it)…but I'd love some KOTOR sets. Not many vehicle possibilities beyond the Ebon Hawk, the Sith starfighters you shoot down in the turret mini games, and swoops (and I guess that shuttle near the end of the game before the Star Forge), but plenty of playset/environment options. They could probably easily construct a wave or two. And, most importantly, we'd probably get T3-M4 and HK-47. Nothing wrong with that! (I'd still like some color variations on T7-O1 tho--the in-game customization options pretty much all look better than the default)
  2. Agreed on the preference of dinos… I only wound up getting one small set, as I didn't (at the time) see the potential in the figures and wasn't really keen on most of the vehicles (or having that many yellow bricks!). Wish I'd nabbed some, now, if only for the dinosaurs. They're gorgeous!
  3. Same here… dark brown's just so much fun in pretty much any piece. But any new color for the hat is great, and help us make an aspiring-musketeer version of D'Artagnan or have him set apart from the Three even if otherwise dressed alike.

Puritan hat - where to get?

Maybe ask the fine folks at BrickWarriors for a Puritan Hat design? They could easily build a theme around it with a bonnet of some sort for the ladies, maybe collars, a musket (more exaggerated at the end of the barrel than the official Lego muskets), maybe a certain kind of sword and/or molded layered cape for more of a Solomon Kane/Vampire Hunter D-type character.

What are your Lego Star Wars collecting habits?

I mostly stick with OT as well, but the odd PT and especially TCW set has found its way into my home. I don't much care for TCW's faces for humans, but for aliens they're fantastic. I also got the smaller two TOR sets (Jedi Striker & the Battlepack); keep hesitating over the Sith ship and the Jedi Defender. I'll be snagging the Ghost & the Phantom shuttle from REBELS when they hit, and I'm hoping we'll get another wave or two of MicroFighters. I keep hoping TLG will switch Luke's hair color from Tan to Dark Tan, tho… and give Chewie minifigs taller Woody legs.

Puritan hat - where to get?

I don't think any exist; someone did an MOC ages ago with custom stickers on a regular Lego top hat, others thought about heavily modifying a witch's hat. I don't know of any of the 3rd party guys who've made one yet.

    Decal Wish List

Link seems broken, did you mean this one? Cleaned up into proper Lego-style designs, I'd be for it! I don't have much use for the production version of the middle one (got enough shirtless barbarians), but with a shirt beneath, it becomes a lot more useful!

    Dark Elves

Those Chima bodies/legs are outstanding for Dark Elves/Drow (spider-gods & whatnot)! Great BW choices, too!
  9. Those look great! Gonna be awhile before I make another BW purchase, but would love to get some of those wings in dark & light bley as well as what's presented here (Thanagarians!), and the armor in steel/silver, too. Those helmets will probably look fantastic in all sorts of places, but I know my orcs are chomping at the bit for some. Loving the stuff you've been putting out lately!
  10. The helmets bug me so much! They fall off so easily. I don't think the CMF Viking was quite so bad, but the handful of Theme figs I got… horrid. I'd love to see a return of this theme, tho maybe a little more historical (i.e. a new helm w/o horn-holes; the Brickforge one covers too much of the face, sadly, but something more like that or even just the original remolded w/o the holes & with a better connection). A newer shield (or stickers akin to the original shields) might be nice, too, since the old ones are rather unwieldy, and a single-piece axe maybe, with the head somewhere between the tomahawk & the traditional separate axe-head in size. I like the BW Viking axe, as well as the (scarcely-available now) BrickForge hatchet, good stuff for Vikings & dwarves. Maybe instead of "Vikings vs beasts" it could simply be "Viking vs Viking" like the Castle themes? Two rival factions, a longhouse and/or semi-modular fort for each, and not everyone in mail (leather jerkins, tunics, and furs would be right at home on Viking warriors, but could be great fodder for general Castle peasants, merchants, nobles, etc). The original theme provided some of my favorite torsos, so I'd be keen to see what they'd come up with in a new go-around. If not a "two Viking faction" theme, maybe a Fantasy-like blend with frost giants, dwarves, elves, trolls, etc?

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors

It's the JEK-14 Stealth Starfighter (or JEK-14's Stealth Starfighter, whatever). Whatever it's from (Yoda Chronicles?), they obviously used the E-wing's design. If it's possible to swap out the black for appropriate bley (or other color) pieces, could be really easy to make a proper E-wing outta it!

    2013 Galaxy Squad

The 'squad' colors are right, too, for the pilots! Orange, blue, green, red... just need 'Pink Squad' (Galaxy Girl could take that, tho she'd need proper pink arms as well as a GS torso/legs)

    REVIEW: 70702 Warp Stinger

I think he's like the blue guy in the Interceptor set--gotta rip a blaster off your ship to arm yourself with!

    LEGO Castle 2013

I was getting excited about the possibility of a Hawk crest for the 'good guys'... that it's the boring old "King Leo" Lion crest in blue is disappointing. I'll also switch out the 'evil magician' as leader of the 'Lupine Knights'... I've had great fun building some bandits recently, so I'll just make a new leader for them. The magician can be part of some Dark Council with the Green Dragons' wizard, Troll Sorceress, and a witch or something.
  15. It makes it quicker/easier/cheaper (or 2 out of those 3) to get a bunch of army-builder types. Some Orcs (Mordor w/ hair, Moria) go for $5 or $6+ each, so buying 4 would set you back $20-$24+, plus shipping, and you MIGHT not even get accessories--let alone other bricks for a little build of some sort. Sure, it's cheaper than buying the full sets themselves JUST for the specific figures, but it's still not nearly ideal. That's not to say it would ALWAYS be expensive... Uruk-Hai without handprint armor/helmets are pretty cheap, as are the hairless Mordor Orcs
  16. Sure they would... you wouldn't get Frodo, Aragorn, Balin, Thorin, etc in Battlepacks. Just more secondary/tertiary named characters (Faramir, Gamling, etc) occasionally and 'nameless' army-builders primarily. The characters & bigger environments of the larger sets would keep those selling nicely, while BPs could just enhance the bigger sets or provide a fun bit of army play on their own. All it'd do is cut down on people buying multiple larger sets strictly to gain extra figures, which I doubt many do (and of those that do, most probably do it specifically to SELL the figures--and possibly part out the entire set--to others). Orc Forge & Uruk-Hai Army would be exceptions to that, of course...

    LEGO Castle 2013

I think the dragon's closer to Skeleton Tower 7093 from 2007... which also sports a wizard in red & black with a black hat. This wizard or witch here seems to have inverted colors (black clothes, red cape), and the dragon seems to have a very different head from the Fantasy-type dragons. I want to be optimistic about these, and I am about the sets... not so much about the factions. A return of King Leo's "Knight's Kingdom I" faction is NOT welcome; not a fan of that logo at all. If they were gonna tackle an older 'lion'-based faction again instead of continuing Kingdoms' Lions, I'd much rather have had the Crusaders return, tho perhaps with a brand-new stylized lion to help it stand out from Kingdoms. So the 'good guys' aren't so encouraging right now (though there were some interesting torsos in that faction, and in the Bulls). Can't make out much about the enemy faction, tho it bears some resemblance to Cedric the Bull's team (with the red 'head' mounted on the catapult attacking the King's Castle). The shield with the catapult guy doesn't smack of Cedric's faction, however. So at least I can be optimistic about the villains. I'd have much preferred Forestmen vs Black Falcons, especially if the Falcons weren't ALL thuggish soldiers & knights ala Kingdoms' Dragons but were overall more neutral/good, especially the king, but including some scheming nobles who're giving the kingdom a bad name, thus requiring the Forestmen to harry them (Prince John/Sheriff of Nottingham kinda thing, working against the true king)
  18. I agree with most of what's been said... Battlepacks to support the larger sets would be ideal, and make a LOT of sense especially for LOTR. The only downside is that some areas don't have much in the way of two-faction options--but that wouldn't really matter for most people, I think. So what if Moria only has one faction that could appear in a BP? A set of Moria orcs, perhaps including some helmeted ones in addition to archers and other melee, and a couple columns or something buildable, would be FANTASTIC! We don't need a matching 'hero' set to go up against them ala pre-2012 SW BPs (Mandalorians vs Clones, etc), and we don't need any good guys packed in with the bad guys either like current SW packs. Moria would stand alone, supplying orcs to the Mines set as well as just general enemies for the Fellowship to battle... so what if only Uruks were at Helm's Deep? Moria orcs could be thrown in there by kids & AFOLs alike. They could cart Merry & Pippin off toward Isengard with a couple Uruk-Hai, too. Then there's Helm's Deep... a set of Uruk-Hai with a broader range of weapons (better buildable pikes rather than the standard Castle halberd) and more hand-print helms & shields, maybe some Uruks with different skin tones (reddish brown, dark brown, even black) to add more variety, and another catapult or ballista to build would rule... and similarly, a Rohan pack with a couple Rohirrim (and at least one horse) and a pair of Elven archers (with helms?!) and a defensive catapult or mini-battlement would be excellent (Haldir needs some company, as do Eomer, Theoden, and their ONE archer!). They could also do a Rohirrim vs Warg Riders set or pair of sets easily enough, with landscape elements to build. Then you get into Gondor and there's all kinds of options, from armored soldiers to Rangers of Ithilien, more Riders of Rohan, and the Mordor forces could have TONS of variety with the various orcs & Uruks & evil men making up their forces. There's several BP options just from the Pelennor Fields alone, let alone Osgiliath being overrun or the Black Gate. There's also the prologue, tho chances are slim-to-none for that (a couple of Elendil's men, a couple of Gil-Galad's troops in one set, and Sauron's forces in another--then some actual proper set with Sauron, Elendil, Isildur, Gil-Galad, and some orc warrior... a guy can dream) The Hobbit, at least part 1, has perhaps fewer options, with the only 'troops' in the main story being Elrond's riders, warg riders, and the goblins of the mountains. But the flashbacks offer up more goodies from the battle at Moria's east gate; tons of generic armored dwarves, younger Balin & Dwalin (I wonder if the mohawk piece from CMFs would fit Dwalin with his beard on? If so, do it up in dark brown and make it happen!), and loads of orcs. Part 2 probably won't have quite so many options with the elves and spiders being the chief 'enemies' encountered by the Company (tho I'm sure the orcs will harry them again at some point before the Five Armies), maybe Dol Goldur forces vs some elves of Rivendell and/or Lothlorien assisting the White Council (just guessing we'll see troops there), but Part 3 will have PLENTY of potential BP sets. I would hope Bridge Direct's contract isn't so rigid as Hasbro's seems to be regarding "action figures"... it'd be a shame if stupid legal issues kept TLG from capitalizing on the excellent BP potential of the films.

    2013 Galaxy Squad

The Red team may not have a large vehicle, but it seems like they might get TWO vehicles in Hive Crawler--just both small speeder-bike type things. Remember, TLG's storyline is that the Red team's about SPEED. Small, quick vehicles fit into that nicely. And it's POSSIBLE that Hive Crawler's red human will be a teammate to Billy, since Blue gets at least one new human in Galactic Titan. There's also the chance that there's another set or two as exclusives, perhaps with a larger red vehicle.

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors

Plus, Leia and R2 escape on their own (granted, in the confusion of Luke's attack), so LEIA can be fighting the bad guys. She does so in the movie a bit, after all, before getting to the deck cannon. I missed the last Barge, so this one's probably a must--especially as we get better pics of the figures!

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

Doesn't look like there's any Corsairs... just orcs and some soldiers for the King of the Dead. One orc is lighter in the lineup, and seems to be the olive-type one kinda rearing back near the right of the box art. So a Moria orc, in skin color anyway (it seems; maybe it's the Mordor Orc color), probably meant to represent the lieutenant from the docks who chides the ship for being late (on the upside, it's another Orc-ear hairpiece... on the downside, no special hairpiece allowing a skull to be plopped on top. The other two are likely Uruk-Hai or other new dark orcs. Overall these are pretty neat! I imagine there's some 'missing' sets (at least one exclusive, and hopefully a few SW-style Battlepacks, ideally with a SINGLE faction in each, with Rohirrim & Gondor soldiers aplenty!). I hope we get better pics soon, and that Saruman gets some hair!

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

I bought myself the Mirkwood Spiders and Warg Attack sets off Amazon last week, only to find my wife had already snagged me Mirkwood Spiders and it was wrapped under the tree the whole time. All that means is more spiders & trees, and extra elves & dwarfs for MOCs! My wife also got me An Unexpected Gathering, so I'm about halfway thru the Hobbit wave! My mother got me Mines of Moria, so my LOTR Lego wave is complete. Having loads of fun with these sets, looking forward to building (or finishing) them in the next few days!

    REVIEW: 75003 A-Wing

Hasbro's often little better with their action figure updates... oh, and WHAT color-corrected lightsabers in A New Hope? Did they finally fix them in the Blu Ray? That's been one of my biggest pet peeves... Luke's blade basically became white over time, then with the DVD back in '04 it was green while on the Falcon. They fixed Vader's missing saber-glow when he's walking towards the closing blast doors after Luke shoots the panel, but they STILL (or, at least, pre-Blu Ray) never fixed Obi-Wan's 'fizzling' blade in the duel with Vader. There's one shot in particular where the glow just vanishes (due to the practical effect used when filming back in '76), leaving just a spinning tape-covered rod visible with a hint of glow at the base and a bright spot at the tip. In '04, they added the soft blue glow around the whole thing, but they neglected to paint in the bright white core of the blade! That's something that should've happened back in the Special Edition in 1997. Sorry for the tangent... like I said, biggest pet peeve. I also think it's time for Han to get a hair upgrade. I've taken to replacing his basic hair with the 'tousled with side part' hair used on a lot of City guys. Luke also needs upgrades, mostly in color: 'tan' isn't right at all. Luke's hair is a lot darker than many toys have it. Dark tan is a MUCH better shade for him; if the Falcon/Echo Base Luke hair was in dark tan, it'd be perfect. The basic male hairpiece is still decent for Return of the Jedi Luke and maybe Empire Strikes Back Luke. Dark tan's also underused as hands... it's great for gloves, particularly on the Endor Rebels. Makes a HUGE difference.

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors

It's to do with AOTC 3D (if that's still even happening; could be the Lego sets were planned already for it even if it was canceled), and perhaps with the Yoda Chronicles which feature non-TCW Lego versions of the characters. Not terribly far-fetched, particularly with the new Battlepack featuring non-TCW Phase 1 clones.
