REVIEW: LEGO Super Heroes 'Super Hero Airport Battle' (76051)
Venkefedo replied to Zusammengebaut's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think Agent 13's hair is perfect... what color would it be otherwise? She's not as yellow-blonde in the films as in the comics. Generic-ish face, but it's the new Leia face so more of that is welcome if you wanna swap things out maybe. Agreed on Bucky's head...I suppose they wanna keep the exclusive version exclusive, but it's a little weak using Star Lord's head there. Not super-weak, just a little. Also wish Cap had a more serious expression and/or a helmet. For Rhodey, I don't mind it too much... I mean, would've been nice to have his original head turn up again to make it more accessible, but I can see why they went with Cyborg's face--it's pretty current, and Rhodey/Cheadle crack wise enough that the happy face works for that. Nice review! That Giant-Man looks amazing... I'll have to make some civilians to staff the airport tower & baggage cart tho- 26 replies

Eh, it's worth it if it means we get this sweet ride as a set!

Pick-up truck? I'd say more like the General Lee! And that crate's full of Agamarian moonshine, transported by Bo & Luke Dooku (no relation to the Count of Serenno)

Nice to see all 3 Freemaker siblings have the darker Kanan-style skin color! More options in that color for custom figs! While Kanan is clearly the darkest of skin in the show itself, using this tone for all 3 human Spectres is probably better than using the light flesh for any of 'em, I think. I'll probably keep Ezra as-is, tho. I liked seeing the Eclipse stuff on the back of the box, that makes it look more appealing with the play functions... unfortunately the set itself spoils what seems to be meant as a reveal in the show, based on the promo that turned up a day or two ago regarding Naare. The new Dengar should be fun; mine has the SSD Dengar head (found it cheap on BL) but the old torso, so he's due for an upgrade... still can't help but wish that Zuckuss or 4-LOM were in his place, tho, or even Bossk who's in more dire need of an upgrade than Dengar (like a head & hands in dark tan...olive green would be too green, medium dark flesh too red... dark tan feels like the best option, and we could certainly use more dark tan hands out there, it's a great color for gloves!)

Toryn Farr. The only woman besides Leia with lines in ESB. She's pretty well-known in collector circles because it took so long to get a figure of her, despite being...the only woman besides Leia with lines in ESB. An alien Cloud City Guard who didn't even make the final cut of the film, and looked ridiculous with his hat on his Trek-ish bumpy forehead, got a figure before her.

The main reason I'd like Luke for the May the 4th figure (tho the book idea's even better!) is that I don't really wanna wait 18-ish months to get him in an VIII set... but OTOH, May the 4th figures are possibly one of the last refuges for EU figures like Revan. Yularen's badge is totally wrong for Thrawn, so an official Thrawn figure would be pretty sweet...but there are other possibilities, too, like Kyle Katarn, Mara Jade, Bastila Shan, Dash Rendar, Zayne Carrick, Tycho Celchu, Baron Fel, Jarael, Ania Solo, Cade Skywalker, any Imperial Knight, Xizor, etc.

That'd be great! I've got a dark bley hood & cape on mine, but dark tan would work better. White & tan should be the bulk of his body printing for sure.

Sorta. Can't quite tell, but the helmet looks a little different, either a different sculpt or maybe just deco? The torso print is different, too, reflecting ANH Vader more. Probably E-3PO. Episode II C-3PO wouldn't just be all silver. Wookieepedia calls it canon, but that's rather meaningless as there's no story to it. Some used to claim it meant Boba survived ROTJ because they confused his preview appearance at Celebration on Tatooine with being on Jakku, but it doesn't matter what heroes appear in the game, or where... They're just a game function. ROTJ Luke didn't fight in the Battle of Hoth, after all.

Yeah, 3PO's chrome in it as well, it's just how they do the shiny characters in the animated format.

Yeah, but you can move ALL the turrets around... the radar cannon, the turret cannons, the mounted rifle... okay, yeah, that's still not much. Toryn Farr is a big deal because she's one of the very few female roles in the OT that had lines, and hadn't been made by Kenner/Hasbro. Oola got a figure, Aunt Beru had a figure, plenty of Leias of course, Mon Mothma got one, EV-9D9, even Sila Kott (but like the voice dubbed in on her scene, the figure was a male), and lots of OT ladies who didn't speak got figures as well, but never Toryn Farr. I agree with everyone who's disappointed in the set itself. It's a fantastic representation of the mini-movie playset, but it does feel like some of the older sets mashed together with a few improvements. Couple it with the seemingly dismally-received 7879 and you've at least got more control room/medical bay stuff, Bacta Luke, a good Hoth Leia, and...um... Han in a blue parka, I guess, and spare parts. The driving force for me to purchase this is the minifigs more than the build, but I'm not sure that'll be enough to sway me (seeing each minifig I like on BL for $20 a pop might persuade me to go for the set instead, tho)... gotta have those Rogues and droids, and the assortment of rebels is very nice.

Some recent (and not-so-recent, but never posted) figures I've made: Imperial Academy teen cadet, Rebels Rex, and Cadet-disguise Ezra Bridger Bao-Dur, Carth Onasi, and Master Ven Zallow from KOTOR2, KOTOR, and SWTOR respectively Poe Dameron's parents, Kes Dameron & Shara Bey from Marvel's "Shattered Empire" miniseries TFA General Organa, and TFA Luke Skywalker (the official Leia is much better, but I threw this together before she was revealed...and Luke's about the best I can do at the moment. The most recent Ben Kenobi head would probably be a touch better; I also have a dark bley hood to match his cape but didn't snap a pic of it) Lastly, some easy Rebel Honor Guards for any Yavin Ceremony displays

All we've been told about the Knights of Ren is that it's a group Kylo joins, and then adopts the name "Kylo Ren". While he's the "master" of them, according to Snoke, that doesn't mean he formed the group. Given the non-saber weapons, I think they may just be dark-side cultists who might not have the Force at all, or if they do they don't have very much training (more akin to Inquisitors) and Kylo becomes their master simply because he's got power due to his lineage & some better training. That's just speculation, but it fits better than "Hey guys, I'm tired of my uncle holding us back when this Snoke guy says we could be so much more. Let's form our own club! I'll give myself a new name like the Sith of old had...Kylo Ren! And you can be my Knights of Ren! Then we can blow this popsicle stand and kill most of the students on the way out! Whaddo ya say? We'll all wear black, you can use a skateboard as a weapon, you can use a spear, I'll make a saber of course cuz I'm the best. Let's do this!"

As someone else and the press release noted, they're a family. So the 3 pictured are either siblings or parents & their son (the press release says "their youngest' so sibs is a possibility, sorta like the Azzameen family in the "X-wing Alliance" game) If they don't have (m)any Cloud City sets on the horizon, Han in his "Bespin" jacket would make plenty of sense as he had many scenes without the cold-weather gear, and it's been awhile since we've had him in that jacket. Me, too! And Janson! Two more Rogues, maybe an updated helmet deco for Wedge, new deco for Janson... those two guys make the set very tempting to me.

I'm pretty sure the protocol droid's meant to be E-3PO. Looks like he's in flat silver, like Phasma; EpII 3PO would probably have a brown arm and be in dark pearl gray, at least partly. The official SW site has announced the new show, The Freemaker Adventures! The art revealed gives us another look at the Star Scavenger set and looks at the main characters, plus that "Mr. Bones"-ish droid (who still seems "Mr. Bones"-ish, and barring new colors or maybe printing he could probably be made right now with a Commando Droid torso, Geonosis BD head & arm & a plain tan arm; not sure about the legs yet). I dig the torso prints for the family (tho that's a lot of yellow), and the Superman/Poe/Kevin hair in brown! Might have to get that ship after all..

That theory probably stems from the novelization by Alan Dean Foster, since in the book Luke misses on his first run, then Obi-Wan's voice speaks to him on the second and he blacks out when taking the shot--the theory that results is that Obi-Wan basically possessed him, and that's how he made the shot. This would seem supported by the duel in Foster's "Splinter of the Mind's Eye" when Vader makes some remark about Kenobi and Luke says "I am Ben Kenobi" or something of the sort. Yeah... black & white, or black & light bley. One of the two. But it's definitely gonna be a T-65; Rogue One takes place just before ANH, so any X-wings we get--unless they're prototypes or specially modified, or some even-older version--will be T-65s, typical OT X-wings. But that's only if they make an X-wing from the film; for all we know, the leaked X-wing is just a set piece, a prop, not something with a significant presence in any battle or belonging to any of the main characters.

They've been pretty good about picking good stuff from the EU to add to the new canon so far... those Rebel Commandos from the ugly-as-sin REBELLION comic are not among the "good stuff". The Rebellion was all slapdash, and there they manage to steal elite Imperial commando suits, rebranding them with their own logos. It looked like armor you might find on elite S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in Marvel's superhero comics, not something the ragtag Rebels would wear. Too much of that "comic book cool" factor that clashed mightily with what most fans would expect in context. That black helmet is likely for black-armored Imperials, not the commandos we'll be following. "Uniform" kinda goes against the nature of Alliance commandos, don't you think? That's why everyone in the cast photo looks different. Soldiers & pilots might have matching uniforms, whatever they can get their hands on...but not the commandos. The price annoys me, like many others, on the Jakku set, even with the Luggabeast. I don't mind the colors on the beast (tough to make a 'dirt-covered blue' without a lot of stickers, and it should be easy enough to swap out for a different hue), and I kinda don't mind Unkar's head (tho I'm not a big fan of any heads that can't turn). I hope the gold 1x1 round tile isn't supposed to be a "portion"; 2x2 would probably be too big, but I was hoping for a printed 1x1 of some sort. They can print a nautilus and a cookie, they can print a Niima portion.

You're several pages late for that realization

You know she actually was in AOTC, right? "From a certain point of view"... the character that evolved thru the development process to become her originated in AOTC, as the little Togruta youngling Ashla in the Great Bear Clan taught by Yoda. They had to age her up a bit to be a viable Padawan for Anakin, and changed her name since nobody would really accept Lil Ashla as a Padawan of consequence (that's why there were repeated remarks about her age & she got mistaken for a Youngling in the Clone Wars movie; she was originally meant to be even younger!)
-
He probably owns one, even if we didn't see it. It may have factored into the deleted scene where he tracks the Falcon to Takodana (and gets his arm ripped off by Chewie).

TCW is just as canon as Revenge of the Sith. And there's no guarantee that Ahsoka would've cropped up in the conversations between Anakin & Obi-Wan during the course of the film's events. Yes, she was created afterwards, but TCW did a pretty great job of effectively writing her out of their lives long before ROTS happens in the timeline... and in the animatic/rough "Crystal Crisis on Utapau", Obi-Wan & Anakin talk about her. They probably would've had even more closure in the planned "Siege of Mandalore" episodes! Each movie takes place over a very narrow window of time, on a very narrow assortment of worlds, with a very narrow (for the most part) assortment of characters. The characters don't reference Ahsoka because there's no point in the story of ROTS where they need to, or even would likely do so. She's out of the Jedi Order, and so not likely to fall to Order 66... Obi-Wan may've tried and failed to communicate with her, but saw no need to specify it to Yoda or Bail (the same could be true of them, if they'd attempted to get in touch with her as a friend & ally). Bottom line, it's not a plot hole any more than Leia never mentioning her mother in ANH is a plot hole.
-
That is not how it works. That's never been how it works. Obi-Wan became a Jedi Knight at the end of TPM, not a Jedi Master, yet Anakin was still allowed to become his Padawan; you only have to be a Knight to take on training a Padawan. Being a Padawan's master is not the same as the rank "Jedi Master".

The tan helmet on the right was shown with the costume of the armored rebel at the recent display... The guy between Felicity and the seated blind-looking dude. EDIT: Whoops. Tracked down the image again and compared it to the lineup, and it's just a Photoshop job flipping the tan helmet & placing it on the mannequin. There's some armor on the knee that looks like it might match, but is probably just swiped from an Imperial or something.

I'd wait on the Bespin Lando & Leia... Bespin Gown Leia--the minifig they made--was never on the Falcon; she was in her Hoth outfit minus the vest, with the Bespin Gown hairdo. It's possible we'll see that one within the next year or so. Lando, too; if you can't wait, just try to score his torso if it's cheaper, and use the most recent Skiff Guard Lando head (or Winston Zeddemore, due to the similar mustache) with whatever hairdo you choose (Dracula-style, slicked back, or the new Finn hair...the new Superman hair from the Dawn of Justice sets might also work for ol' Billy Dee!), and dark blue legs which are easy enough to find. EDIT: well, forget my Lando torso advice. $47 is the cheapest I see it on Bricklink! You'd be better off getting a plain Medium Blue torso, swapping the hands for Reddish Brown, then finishing it up as I suggested with recent/easy parts... sure it lacks detail, but there's probably a decal somewhere you could print and it beats spending $47 to over $100 for relevant parts.

...and if we get a non-CW figure of her, we can even, probably, use her head on our CW-style Lego minifigs to make a 'regular' style of her Padawan looks! She is that popular. Many consider her one of the best new SW characters in years, despite her annoying personality early on... of course, many consider her as much of a Mary Sue as they think Rey is, but she had a nice character arc throughout the show and grew a lot as a character...and while I know they had more planned for her beyond Season 5, the way they wrote her out of the Jedi in Season 5 was pretty great. Plus, like someone mentioned, potential for new saber blade color! (would they just do trans-clear, or try something new with a trans-white?) I hope she's in a nice set worth getting besides just for her...

Unless a clone BP was gonna have some specific characters (ARC Trooper versions of Fives & Echo, Phase II Wolffe, Cody), I'm with you there: plain Phase 1s or 501st Legion would be my preferences. I'd also like to see a new BP featuring the Rebel Fleet Troopers... new face prints with chinstraps, a better, older Pello Scrambas than just the youthful "smiling face" we got in the Planets set & Advent calendar... and maybe, unlikely tho it may be, they'll adopt the "small SW blaster with gray Technic half-pin on the muzzle" idea for making the DH-17s the RFTs use!
