    Space Ship - Yamato

Thanks SlyOwl! It is you bring me to this great forum. Thanks! I enjoy the sharing here. The response rate from members of this forum is really great. Yes, you're right. Some tiles could be used to pattern this ship. In fact, I did for a little region at the middle body of the ship. But i think it can be extended to other regions as well as long as it is not over. Thanks!! Thanks. The original reference design is excellent and catched my eyes. In fact, I just built this with Lego only. The credits should go to the original designer. To resolve the limitations of Lego pieces, some variations have to be done with this work though, I am happy to know you feel it is balanced and well done! Thanks. This work can draw the attention among members, they like my work and so as me. This is probably one of my most successful MOCs since I returned to Lego for 2 years. There are two Yamato ships, one is from anime describing it the Yamoto space battleship. The original one is in WWII where Yamato battle ship is named in history. This one is the space battleship Yamato, I like building space / mecha quite much though........ Thanks. I am really happy with you guys support for this kind of MOCs. This really gives me good support to build more and improve my skills further. Well, yes. My friends as well as some members are surprised I built such a huge ship to the gathering............ Although it takes me much energy to bring the ship to the gathering venue, it worths though! haha.......

    Space Ship - Yamato

Thanks! The photos are taken well, all credits to my wife! Otherwise the ship is just a large piece of blurish dark gray stuff...... Yes, I also love very much this color scheme by the original Yamato. Of course, Lego has these colors with great supply of different kind of components, which helps the success of this work. haha, thanks. I also can't believe I can build this one out. You know what, I want to build this Yamato for a year already, but without any actual plan / draft work out. Now I need to think about how to store this huge stuff at my small home.... Yes, good idea! Well, that Yamato in BS was super huge and takes years to build. I think I will be killed by "someone" at the very beginning if I try to build a similar one....... I like this size, portable and detail enough, although not up to minifig's scale. Nevertheless, this is just a scale I can afford with my present amount of bricks. I also want to try to place tiles for whole ship, but I just can't have so many tiles as I want................ It is very expensive to play Lego in HongKong......... Yes, it just happened that I found some curve parts with TSL stickers on it, so why not using them to decorate a little bit?! In next version, I think I will add in the wave-motion gun delighted with blue LEDs. I think this would be the final version. Thanks a lot for your reply! Thanks. It is the first time for me to build a battleship, it is out of my expectation that this work is successful and get so much attention. This gives me so much energy to do my next MOC.

    Space Ship - Yamato

Thanks for your reply! The skeleton is the key to build before the out-look of the battleship is polished up. The skeleton does take me few times to try out. Sorry, I didn't take photos during my build, but if I will de-part this ship sometime later, I will take a final shot.... Yes, it is from a Japanese anime, I think it was almost 20 years ago.... The Lego fans gathering in HK was just done last Sat, it is a pleasant time for over 100 members to cheer up with Lego and food. I am also very happy to be able to bring this huge stuff successfully to the venue without excessive damage...... Thanks for your invitation. I think I am not a good admin, but I will do my best to post more my MOCs in this forum in the near future. Thank you! This work is probably the best one out of my previous MOCs. But it is a difficult beginning to plan the ship size and build method. I learnt a lot during this build and very happy to see the outcome. Yes, you're right. I didn't make the "wave motion gun" upfront as I don't like this much. Yet, to build a complete model with the original one, I probably will do the final version with this wave motnion gun sometime later and add in blue LEDs.

    Space Ship - Yamato

My first work in 2009!! It spent me 40 hours in 10 nights, built after work. Being pushed by a AFOL gathering in Hongkong. It measures about 1.1m long. The internal structure is built with technic bricks and is made empty to reduce its weight so as to make it portable. Hope you enjoy my work! Regards, Vincent

    Wing Gundam Zero Custom

Thanks! I enjoy this work very much, though it really spent me much time. Thanks. Right, the wings are too heavy for the gundam to support without the stand. But the Gundam is sturdy by itself. Most joints are built with exo-force units. Thanks so much! Thanks SlyOwl. Yes, that's the reason why I like building mecha/Gundams more than town buildings, although I did work out some from time to time. Thanks for your suggestion to lengthen the wings as stand, I will try later! Thanks. Well, the gundam itself is quite sturdy, I never worry any part to fall off. Right now, the only thing I dislike is the weight of the wings though..... Thanks a lot! Do you mean it is better if the shoulder joints (the exo-force joints) could be covered up?

    Hyaku-Shiki

Thank you! I checked my schedule again, it actually takes less than 2 weeks although I thought I have been working on this MOC for over 3 weeks Yeap, it is a Gundam. I like to create Gundam with Lego quite much, there are still too many to build.......... Thanks for helping. Agreed. Yeap, my friends like the head most. This one is probably one of the best I have made so far........... my previous MOCs are not as good though.......... Thanks. Thank you!

    Patlabour

Hi, there, This is my first Mecha MOC, done in Dec 2007. I loved Patlabour since it was one of my favourite cartoons when I was young. The scale is about 1:144. It took me almost a month to finish. Thanks for watching! Vincent (fvin)

    Knight Gundam

Thank you!! Yes, I made this Gundam based on the shin musah gundam model. I am happy someone could figure it out........ Thank you! Thank you! Yes, I feel happy to figure out some uses of droids. Thanks! I also love this work most among the other Lego gundams that I have created before. Thanks! The choose of redish brown color, to me, is unexpectedly good. I was in a fight between red and redish brown when I begin to work on this Gundam. Thanks. Yes, it is based on shin musah gundam. The shoulders are quite heavy even though I am already using exo-force joints. To do some dynamic poses, it takes another stand to help. Yeah, I will keep MOC on! Thank you! Thank you. I am looking for some tan pieces for decoration due to the chose color-scheme. Droid's parts are really good pieces to use indeed. I guess the techniques can be applied to my other MOCs too. I am happy with this find. Thank you! I hope you didn't let your boss see at work........ It is not my first Lego Gundam, it takes me about 30 hours in 2 weeks. But it is not 100% completed. I am still working on some weapons and a little bit details at the shoulders.

Ingenious MOCs of the Olympic games in Beijing

Thanks Alywin for the information! Hi, The entire Olympic City was designed and built by a group of AFOLs in HongKong. In fact, we have just recently formed HKLUG so as to link up with other AFOLs in the world. I am one of the members in HKLUG and responsible for the design of the Swimming Cube. I am happy to know that you like my design and the lighting effects! The following photo shows the interior structure of the Swimming Cube. Specifically the decks for the observers must be designed strong enough to support the top plate of the Swimming Cube as there is no more supporting that could be built on top of the swimming pools. Among all photos we have taken, we like the followings the most: These photos were taken in a completely dark workshop. Apart from more photos to show the interior structure of the Swimming Cube as you may find below: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=333004 there are also some interesting figures about constructing the Swimming Cube to share with all of you: Just for the Swimming Cube: Work Period: 4/6 - 11/7 (total 37 days) Total Work Days: 19 days Total Work Hours: 116 hours (417600 seconds) - it is very tired to build models after work... Size: 148 bricks x 148 bricks x 32 bricks (height) Amout of Bricks Used: > 50000 pcs The most number of bricks in a single lot: 16000 pcs (1x2 trans-dark-blue brick) Building Speed: 50000pcs / 417600seconds = 0.12pcs/sec (Almost need to put in one brick per 8 seconds, including to think and design) Weight: ~ 80pounds in rough estimation Light tube: 32 pcs in various sizes Total power consumption for lighting: ~ 300 Watts Minifigs within swimming cube: >600 pcs Thank you!
