General Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Questions
mpaisana replied to jmagaletta's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
According to Tolkien's words, Minas Morgul is one of the most interesting and mysterious locations of Middle Earth. Jackson did a terrible job reproducing that, with al the black masonry and the green lights -.-' Tolkien mentions the entire city is actually pale white, like moonlight without light (Minas Morgul was Minas Ithil, which means Moon in high elvish), an emptied city but full of death and dread. Jackson clearly got carried away, it's a really poor adaptation, wouldn't be of great interest to see that in UCS scale, and I doubt we would ever get such set. -
I don't know what this means either but it surely means more money for people to spend..

cool ideas, thanks for the share!

General Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Questions

didn't know that feature of those POTC sets. pretty neat! If that is to happen with Orthanc, then we may have some idea of the tower width, sort of. -
Collectable Minifigure Sightings & Availability
mpaisana replied to mo123567's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Available in Continente Supermarkets in Portugal. I got a complete collection at NascLego, Lisbon. Opened a 100 box with him and got a collection for me. This might very well be my favorite series so far. Wonderful minifigs! -
When I realized this LOTR wave only had 4 sets, I kinda started hoping there's some hidden set to go along. I have no doubt that this is real, people are already losing faith lol. Never mess with Grogall, guys..

I wouldn't put my money on that, but one can always hope. -
At some point, someone will look at the SW licence and realize that you can't invent the wheel twice, or thrice... (and I love Lego SW, and buy lots of sets).

There are so many castles these days it gets boring to watch them. This one, however, is really well done, I love the environment , epic stuff!

General Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Questions
mpaisana replied to jmagaletta's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Weathertop is a great set, and good value for money! It seems small but it is complex. As someone said, its a very nice set to mod and make a huge Amon Sul reproduction! Go for it if you can! -
The reason why I dislike that set is because i don't consider the building process to be pleasant, or motivating, compared to other sets. In that aspect, I consider the two little sets to be more appealing, as building experiences, but I understand your argument, and the scale issue sure is a win, but not enough for me to recommend that set to someone.

It really is a pleasant and clever build. The last time I felt this I was a kid and I was building this, which is, for me, the best lego set I've ever got.

General Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Questions
mpaisana replied to jmagaletta's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Too many stickers to be taken seriously lol, but I didn't like the idea of the whole set, some unifying logic was missing, like in Bag End. -
Goblin King is a poor achievement but again, this is one of the rare cases where the flagship set is not the most expensive one. Bag End clearly is a winner. I would really like to see more hobbiton sets, but I guess not.

General Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Questions
mpaisana replied to jmagaletta's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I would never get The Mines of Moria, one of the poorest sets I've built, but Shelob is a winner! I say get it, even if it does get cheaper, I don't think it'll be much cheaper than that. -
You're right hadn't seen things that way, but in any case, I think that Lego wil never ditch the licence before producing some sets based on the third movie. As for the sets you mentioned, I actually think that Gandalf's Arrival and Riddles for the Ring are two of the best sets of each line. I would choose Gandalf's arrival over Mines of Moria, easily. Clever design, reproduces the scene faithfully. The same thing for Riddles.. had more pleasure building that than the Goblin King, which I'm still trying to finish but find boring as hell.

Those Polybags never reach Portugal, it's really sad :/ get the 79003 jmagaletta! -
Its funny, one of the things I like the most as a collector is to have different versions of the same ship / minifig / building. Its really cool to see the differences, almost as if you can see Lego's design logic evolving between sets and years :) I really like both my versions of Luke's landspeeder, it's really cool to compare both ships! I don't buy UCS Lego because I can't afford those sets. The only set I would get would be a Slave I, because of it's aggressive and uncanny design. As for the Sandcrawler, which someone said before that it isn't an iconic vehicle, couldn't disagree more.

This is always unfair to European buyers. I get nothing from Lego because it's standard price plus €11.95 for shipping to Portugal... I get discounted sets (25% to 35% from amazon...) with free shipping. Even lego can't compete with that, and it is a bit sad to watch the prices in the US :/ The VIP program could help to diminish that difference for european buyers. If its a 1 currency = 1 point logic, be reminded that €1 = $1.335, as an european citizen I pay more than american fans for the same privileges.

Networking and the web has a lot to do with it, I agree with Bobsy. It is very interesting to watch TLG grow as a social brand, I think they have been doing great.

Which LEGO Pirate captain is your favorite?
mpaisana replied to Captain Roger's topic in LEGO Pirates
I think Captain Roger is my favorite minifigure ever, that's the one I played the most with.
