  1. As it's the middle of the month now, we'll go ahead and end the fourth freebuild period here and start off with the fifth. So please remember to make a new post in this topic for your builds after Jan. 15th! Yep, the rest of us are going to have to up our game here! It's just as well that Kali wasn't in the lead before or we'd all really be left in the dust sand!

    [GoC] HMS Forbearance

Those raked masts are fantastic, and the top-down view of the deck is just beautiful! I was about to mention that I thought it was a good move to go without minifigs when I read Bregir's comment and your response and spotted them in there, - the sleekness of your vessel had really set me off thinking that it was quite a bit smaller than it really is, and they do look quite appropriate in there! Very nice work, and clever PU on the rear windows
  3. I quite like this - the stone wall is superb, and while it's certainly not something we see a lot in the brick, I'm really liking the low cliff walls too. Maybe a few more slopes along the flattest part would help make it a little more interesting there, but overall I think it's definitely a success! Great job with the landscape colors and gate too, and if I've got one nitpick it'd actually be the cottage walls, which look a little bit too much like vinyl siding to me, But maybe that's just because I live in a house that's got white vinyl siding all the way around Great job overall - keep up the great work!
  4. Very nicely done! The vegetation is just fantastic (that native lying in wait is perfect ), and the step-temple is excellent. Great job with the building on top and the stairs especially, although they do look a bit steep!

[COR - FB] Establishment of Wullham

Excellent landing scene - the buckets and chests are perfect, and I love those little rock outcroppings too Great color-scheme as well - definitely impressed by how well that water works!

    Shield Shop of Batuhan

Seconded! The built-in shield technique is perfect here, and you've got the perfect amount of action going on as well Excellent move with the brown arches too!
  7. Yeah, that's not easy to pull off - I would think you'd have to dig pretty far into the base and SNOT the ground right around/beneath it, then use either cheese or a scattered stud/1x1 tile technique inside to get the edges right. The way you've got it right now works pretty well though - the pop of color from the direct blue brightens the whole build up really well!
  8. Really nicely done! The layout is fantastic, and I'll echo the others on the fountain and stone courtyard Great job with the Port Woodhouse style too, and I can't miss mentioning those ground colors - excellent work all around!

    [COR-FB] Some Port and Stargazing

That's an ingenious idea with the tree-tops perspective, and I think you've managed it quite well! That lengthy telescope and the footman's attire are great as well, and like the Professor, I'm liking those windows too!

    [ESL] Watermill, Otoño

It's been really fun to watch this develop, Ayrlego, and the result is certainly worth the wait! The woodwork (love that d-brown section on the back) and waterwheel are superb, and it's always awesome to see an appropriately sized tree - especially a fall-colored one! The ground colors are probably my favorite detail though - those are just stunning! If it's possible to nitpick on such a lovely build, I think a few loose leafs (like these) on the pathway around back where the postman is would spice up the slightly empty space a bit; and something about the 2x1 brick right above the log brick tells me that it ought to be an inverted slope, maybe lifted up a plate so you could get a cheese slope underneath, to match the way the tree kind of weaves towards the right higher up. I know how tough it is to build natural-looking trunks though and you've done a fantastic job, so please feel free to the random feeling I've got about that brick! You're whole postal series (including this one cause it's got the postman, ) has been beautifully executed, and we owe both you and The Neighborhood Merchant for coming together to give the settlement some love! And I love fall colors - what can I say?

    [COR-FB] Same Stars, Different Names

Very clever idea and very nicely executed! I'm quite surprised by how good those stars look, and those printed stump parts are just awesome as well

    [MOC] Egrett VV

Fantastic shaping, man! The headlight offsets along the winds and tail are sweet, and those angles on the cockpit look like they couldn't have been that easy either! Very impressive stuff, and super quick work
  13. Agreed - that vine is lovely, and it works fantastically with the light yellow and classic Nova T architecture! Great looking contingent as well, and I'm quite liking those lower story windows with the crisscrossed bars. Excellent job, mate!

    [BTV1-OL] Kingsport Peekaboo

That. ramrod. is. brilliant! Excellent job with the ruined/war-torn buildings as well (sweet bullet holes), and the presentation is top-notch as usual! I really like your Terraversan uniforms/colors, and the studs out base approach works perfectly with the collapsing environment. Keep these invasion/counter invasion builds up, y'all!
  15. Monthly Free Build Registration Thread July 1st, 2016 to August 1st, 2016 What is this thread? This is the thread where YOU register your free build, besides submitting it via the webform. So, why are we doing this again? This thread is both an index of builds so that they may be easier to find for members, and a backup for the Economic Game System. As a back up of Free Builds and MRCA builds, we won't be using this thread for calculating your account. Please remember to submit the form for your Free Build or MRCA build. What do I need to do? Simply write the following information in a NEW post: Name of MOC linked to the thread | Name of Builder | Faction you belong to IE: Smuggler's Cove | Kai NRG | Eslandola Write no more. Note: All free builds must have their own thread, and there must be a link to that thread provided here. After you are finished making a thread, make sure to report your free build via the monthly webform so that you can get credit for it! Remember, if this build is going to have an Economic Game System component (IE you are going to buy a license and make money off the property) you will need to fill out either a Property License Form or a Ship License Form. Do not comment on builds in this thread, please do that on the MOC’s own thread. Can I just post in my faction thread and leave it at that? Um... No. Can I put up an entry for another faction member's build? If that builder has disappeared and we are getting near the end of the month, this would be allowed. What if I can't remember if a submitted a build? If you don't remember submitting a form, use the Free Build Entry List to find out what builds you've already submitted. An email will be sent containing a list of all builds submitted. Spelling is important. Is this just a copy of GoH's free build registration thread? No! I don't have any idea what made you think it is. The idea was a completely original one and has absolutely nothing to do with GoH's one. (Yes, actually it is ) Why does this look a lot like the previous ones? Because it is the same, that's why Previous Months: January's Free Build Registration Thread February's Free Build Registration Thread March's Free Build Registration Thread April's Free Build Registration Thread May's Free Build Registration Thread June's Free Build Registration Thread
  16. Excellent micro-building and FP - the scattered stud approach works great here - but the story is what makes this something I couldn't miss commenting on! It's awesome when the game mechanics influence the stories we tell, and then those are turned into builds and plot twists and - and it just makes the world alive. I'm definitely hoping you'll come back to Jack and Kate soon, because you can't end here! Great stuff, Capt!

    [OL - FB] A Proclamation

Always love it when you give us another look at the Societé - and this vig is the perfect way to show the reason why! The crates and mottled wall match perfectly with the drab uniforms and red scarfs of the Heraclists, and the graffiti and posters on the wall (as well as the others!) are spot-on too! Excellent work as always, mate!
  18. Another gorgeous build, Ayrlego - the wall texture is spot-on and the roofs, though simple, are just plain epic! Those bands of light grey half-rounded tiles and the layout are great as well, and that's a really nice cannon design And though a small detail, the stone knobs on the corners are really the icing on the cake for me - they give the whole scene an undeniable feeling of elegance. Excellent stuff, mate!
  19. You know how to do roofs, mate! Those, along with the curved gables and stone corners give the architecture some definite character, and the red shutters and mottling are fantastic as well. The greenery in the corners - especially the palm tree and the creepers climbing the wall on the right - are the perfect pop of color, and the cart of fodder is a great design. All around excellent work as always!

    [MOC] Dwarven Barber Shop

I've been wanting to take the time to come back and comment on this for a long time (as you can tell ) - I loved seeing the builds coming out of this category and this is undoubtedly one of the best! The wooden arches and curved roof are fantastic, as is the interior (that mirror is ingenious! ) The signs and those beard examples on the inside definitely deserve mention as well. But my favorite thing might have to be that you took a friends set and transformed it into such a perfect Mitgardian barber's shop - still loving it!
  21. That's a fantastic Terraversan scene right there, Ayrlego - so much to like about this, from the cottage to the terrain (excellent use of tiles) to those superb brown uniforms! The repeated dark orange hints give this a great dash of color, but somber enough that it matches the purpose of the build very nicely. And, blu-tack or not, that slung rifle is just sweet! With this kind of start on both sides, I can't wait to see what we'll be getting coming out of the events on TER!
  22. Woot woot! I love Letters of Marque - now just got some thinking to do weighing the alternatives here, And maybe time to build up the fleet a bit too - Captain Nordau's still waiting on his new ship...

    Tobacco Plantation

Those double-tri-leaf plants are really pretty from a top-down view, especially in lime green! The lime-green pathway looks fantastic as well (as Mab mentioned, the slopes really help make it look natural), and the palms are an excellent way to fill up the corner and get some height into the scene If you'd like some constructive criticism for future builds, think of the fact that in a real plantation things aren't always so spick and span - the dirt lines get kicked around a little and a pebble or two show up here and there; some palm trees lean over at weird angles, and maybe a coconut or two drop off and roll around on the ground. You've done an excellent job with this build, but the more little details you get thinking about the more you can tell a story with your pictures and attract attention where you keep coming back to see more and more in a build! Can't wait to see what you'll be coming up with for BoBS! I've been following your story and builds so far and am looking forward to watching you continue - it's always great to see new players jumping in here!

    Troop rules and land combat

Woot! Yes! - kudos to the leadership for coming out with these rules - it's obvious at a glance that a lot of thought went into them and I'm really liking what I'm seeing! Looking forward to watching these get some testing here

    [BTV1-TER] Midnight raid

Excellent little build - the way you've sunk those rowboats into the water adds so much realism and interest to the build, and that's quite a stack of rifles the TVsans have captured! I feel for those poor Oleanders just getting a bit of a nap though On an aside, I'm loving all the builds and action and smack going on recently with the invasion and all on both sides here! I've had too little time to be commenting as much as I should have here, but know that I've been definitely enjoying it all!
