    Spanish Galleon Project (WIP)

Here we have my successful attempt at transfer paper for lego sails! I generated the images using photoshop and man did they come out clean! Have a look!

    Spanish Galleon Project (WIP)

Now that the prototype is complete, I can begin the true structure of this Galleon. This is my first Lego ship and it was this complete when i first discovered this website and the the famous Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion. I can promise that this galleon was in no way based on that ship. EDIT: I have come up with a name! The Espirito Santo, "Holy Spirit" in Portuguese. This is no longer a Spanish galleon, rather a Portuguese galleon.

    Spanish Galleon Project (WIP)

Finally I have a chance to sit down and make some sails! It has been a while, but it is starting to look a bit more complete around here. I will post more Pictures soon!

    Spanish Galleon Project (WIP)

Finally got around to my bricklink order! Made some progress on the deck and finally built some cannons! I also decided that the original lego anchor was simply to small so I went about making my own. Check out the pictures and feel free to criticize. Just for fun, a birds eye view! I will still be messing around with the deck (and surely what lies beneath, considering the mass of coloured bricks) and the masts before I even begin to think up some rigging. Cheers, Merlin

Do you have a MOC that has not been indexed?

Does a work in progress count? Here is my WIP Galleon, the Espirito Santo: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=72347 Thanks!

    Spanish Galleon Project (WIP)

I will get around updating this soon again! I am waiting for a large BrickLink order as to replace all the coloured bricks within the ship. When all the pieces are replaced, I can set the final decks and begin rigging/sails. Certainly the bow will be complete, overall height of the ship will also be decreased by one entire brick if possible (it may not be so, we will see).

    Spanish Galleon Project (WIP)

I decided to redesign the bow after noticing it was a bit narrow and long. I used the same inverted arches as in my stern design, it turn out to be strong and very smooth. I may cut out a small piece of dark red sticker from a Lego set to finish the lower dark red line for it is blocked by the inverted arch piece. Here is an image of the whole ship with the new bow.

May I see the full image? EDIT: nice, good to know! Thanks.

    Spanish Galleon Project (WIP)

Wow, I marvel at the Nuestra SeƱora. Such colour and detail, I am hoping that my Galleon may be as beautiful as that ^. I will certainly look into modifying the stern (right now actually) and see about getting rid of some of those 45 degree 1X2s. Thank you admiral Croissant for pointing out that they are in fact facing the wrong direction! I must not have noticed when I was assembling them. From my understanding is that when a mast collapses these sharp hooks would cut through and damage the attackers rigging and sails. However, I am not sure if anyone has proven this.

    Spanish Galleon Project (WIP)

I decided to add a small rail to increase the height. The stern is a prototype so don't mind it. I have also since added 6 gun ports to the upper deck, sorry I did not include any pictures.

    Spanish Galleon Project (WIP)

It is looking like I may have to go with smaller arches. I need to use jumper plates for the arches are 5 studs wide at the top...if i did not use the jumpers it would call for an uneven walkway which will be difficult. But it is worth a third try!

    Spanish Galleon Project (WIP)

Yeah, here is the full ship...it is not nearly done!

    Spanish Galleon Project (WIP)

Thank you all! This is why I posted this WIP, I love all your advice! I will get to fixing any historical inaccuracies as quickly as I can. As for the arched structure, it is to have a walk way on it. I will post an example of it as soon as I get back to my home computer. Oh and Frank Brick Wright, I have been looking in my lego boxes for some larger technic bricks for a while, I was planning on making them larger. Thanks! Sorry, had to screen shot it...so there is the walkway and arched structure. Not as arched as mine however. I may get around to changing the arches to smaller ones.

Thanks Legonardo! This is the prototype for my deck! How do you guys like my conquistador crew! EDIT: This idea for the curved rail is out, I simply cannot get inspired to make it look correct.

    Spanish Galleon Project (WIP)

I am having such difficulty posting pictures on this website! I can never get it to work right, my pictures always end up being so low quality and random sizes. How do you guys get high quality, large pictures on this website posted!

    HMS Surprise WIP

I checked it out! Marvelous, I cannot wait to see it made from real Lego bits!

    Spanish Galleon Project (WIP)

Oh yes, it is actually the most stable front design I have come up with for this galleon (it is also the best).

    Spanish Galleon Project (WIP)

Update: I thought I would post this design, I have been working with these 1X1 slope pieces and I really enjoy how this turned out.

    Flying Dutchman

How difficult is this to make and how much wold it cost as a set? If Lego pieces are averaging 1.65 cents a piece I can imagine it being quite the price tag mate. Good luck with Cuusoo!

    WIP East Indiaman

This is looking very nice, I am enjoying the custom hull.

"The making of" our Spanish Imperial Galleon

It has been over a year since I first saw this galleon, I was half way through my Galleon when I discovered it! I have yet to finish it, but they look remarkably similar (except mine is smaller by one hull section).
