Very nice work. I really like the angles on the fuel tank. -
Very nice build with lots of great detail. And fitting all that PF stuff into that little cab is wonderful. But do you have problems with the IR Receiver being partially blocked by the exhaust stack?

Really nice truck. You definitely need red or magenta for the truck nuts. And in most parts of the country, that would be called a "d-bag lift." Although, that term may not be appreciated here on Eurobricks.

Poor Jar Jar.

I think there has been some confusion between the sets because the new 60097 City Square comes with an urban, European styled trolly type train. When news of the sets first leaked back in December, the 60098 Heavy Haul train was called the "Metro MPD" which caused a tremendous amount of speculation as to the type of train it could be, but it looks like that name was in error.

Your depressed deck flat bed car is stunning. I can only hope that two depressed deck cars that I am building turn out that nice.

This is a beautiful model with lots of nice detail. You have done an excellent job capturing the look of that CSX livery. I am very thankful that 2X4 wedge plates are available in the appropriate color for my latest build, but I really think that your solution looks better than what I am about to build on the back of my locomotive. And having built a couple of models with Technic beam/liftarm construction then finished the model with a covering of System parts, I am thoroughly comfortable with illegal part combinations using jumpers and various hinge pieces. As long as I have proper clutch holding things together and no "gravity" connections, I am fine. -
Very nice work building around the PF parts to give the final model such a sleek appearance. It is a ringer for the Swiss locomotive. Kudos.

I would venture a guess that the parking lot is rather safe and the Lego monorail as we knew it from the late 1980's and early 1990's will never again exist. Essentially, metal gears motivating cars on plastic tracks just was not a great idea when you look at toy longevitiy. That being said, I would suggest that if you want a monorail for your layout, feel free to build one of the many styles of brick built monorail that is around us currently. One of the LUGs that I belong to has a hanging monorail as a major feature in our current layout in addition to having a copy of the Masao Hidaka monorail ready to integrate into the layout when the need for a new attraction arrises. Joe Meno has an very well documeted article in the June 2013 issue of Brick Journal which he documents the different types of monorail so you can look at the options available for building this flavor of train. And the style of train on the 60097 City Square will look quite nice as a futuristic on a monorail running around a Lego town layout.

My motto in life is that for every written rule, their is a loophole to get around it.

Gorgeous layout. The 1X1 round tiles really look good and the crane is very nice.

As long as the customer has a choice of what parts to pick to fill their bubble container, then the concept of "quantity control" is simply an illusion and the only benefit of PaM is to increase the price/part of the bricks offered on the wall for those that choose to take the path least creative resistance. This is a marketing move that may just work to sell more of their new "Classic" line of products.
-
No, those parts are not banned from being put in PaB cups, but the sales people at my local store pleasantly asked me not to fill an entire large cup with the 1X1 yellow bricks with a stud on the side. I complied and got a couple of (large) handfuls of the parts for my cup as well as equal grasps from the other "fancy part" bins I will need to make a return trip for more of the special parts tomorrow..

Wow! That is a sharp train.

I love the detail that you added to the inside of the MOC as well. Great build.

I love the details on this build. And now I know how to use those "feather" pieces from my Chima sets from a couple of years ago. Keep of the great work! -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
cgarison replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Honestly, I have no clue why Lego does not have a "Revival" theme to bring out re-makes of classic sets. I could list a dozen or so sets over the last 40 years that would be worth a re-make. -
Nice build and the Jacob bogies really set off this model.

Start building with a 500LB gorilla of a LUG in a particular area of Lego displays and watch giant sucking sound of BrickLink begin.

Well, my name is Gary and I have built one MOC train and have another currently under construction. I also am no longer racking up VIP points because all of my LEGO money goes into Pick-A-Brick and BrickLink to build my monster of a locomotive. -
Ahhh.... Jar Jar is having another bad day. He cannot have enough of those in my opinion. This is a wonderful MOC. The centenary design is great and I love the over all simple elegance of the truck. Keep up the good work.

My wish is that the old molds that Lego has been using to produce baseplates either have been replaced or are going to be replaced very soon because the 32X32 plates that I bought last year were simply horrible and offered very little clutch for my modular MOC to stick to the plate without a significant amount of design effort to keep my building attached to the baseplate when carrying it to and from shows and displays.
