Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?
KingPixels replied to KingPixels's topic in Community
My Decool Fantastic Four arrived yesterday. The plastic quality overall is really good, almost dead on LEGO's. Aside from the pointed shoulders I'm really happy with the torsos, which is all I really bought them for (I use official LEGO arms, heads, and legs). The hair pieces were good too, but next to LEGO's they lack detail and are a tiny bit glossier, and the colour is also a bit off. The inside of the torsos (where the legs fit in) are a bit too tight, which means that the legs bend inwards a few nanometres, but it wouldn't even be noticeable if I wasn't paying really close attention. I would use the Decool hip element, but the round part in between the legs is the wrong shape (it doesn't curve inwards at the top). The figures are still really good overall though, and it's great to have a decal-free FF in my collection. If Decool fixed the shoulders on the torso moulds I would buy every minifig they put out (including the upcoming SDCC Amazing Spider-Man and Phoenix. LeLe and Sheng Yuang both recently put out some Captain America figures (8 each) too. Those helmet pieces are going to be so useful! -
How am I supposed to mould a Red Hulk out of ABS plastic? And for less than $2?

He's said before that fleshies look weird to him, he feels that yellow is closer to the LEGO spirit, and there's a wider variety of heads.

They look great!

I'd rather they didn't. Where else can I get a moulded plastic bigfig Red Hulk? Or a printed Odin, Winter Soldier, and Fantastic Four for less than $2 each?

Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?
KingPixels replied to KingPixels's topic in Community
I'm not saying they aren't much better quality, but I just can't afford to drop fifty bucks on a single figure. -
I've probably removed and reattached hundreds of arms and I've never had a part crack.

The GoTG figs look great but I still hate that Magneto.

Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

Price of a Chinese knockoff: $2 Price of one of those: $20-60 For example, I got the entire Fantastic Four for $5, which would cost about $100 if I went with the customisers' figs. -
Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?
KingPixels replied to KingPixels's topic in Community
The only companies doing Carnage right now are really bad quality. Decool is generally the best and they haven't done him yet. That's what they do. And they don't really hire customisers, but they have their own design guys and sometimes they steal customisers designs (but I don't buy the ones that are stolen). Before someone mentions the irony there, I know. -
My bad, it looked clean enough that I assumed it was an official piece.

I think it looks really good, but I'm curious about the lines around the mouth. What are they supposed to be? -

Using real LEGO parts would be a lot more expensive for bootleg manufacturers. The whole point of them is that they're about $2 (USD) each. On top of the fact that it would be impossible for them to get the amount of parts they needed. Who's going to sell official minifig parts to them in bulk? LEGO? I doubt it. I don't really see them as a threat to the value of exclusive figures. I'm not buying bootlegs because they're as good as the real thing, I'm buying them because they're my only option. Any serious collector would probably be more willing to drop a few hundred bucks on a single figure. -
I found this on Flickr, I thought it was really clever. Sorry if it's been posted before. Just to be clear, this picture is from 'Evil Guppy' on Flickr, here's the link:

Amazing Spider-Man 2 Rhino Reference Pictures

Strange that they made a figure, seeing as Rhino only appears in the suit for a total of about 2 minutes in the movie. -
That Odin is genius! The eyepatch works so well!

I don't mind inaccuracies in sets at all, since you can modify them as much as you want. Minifigures though, you can't. The grey Drax is growing on me though.
