Does anyone know what happened to the LEGO Train Depot? I receive a 404 Error for the link I posted. The North Georgia LEGO Train Club appears to be in the process of a redesign but there doesn't appear to be much activity. There is/was some good information at the LEGO Train Depot, especially for the 9V era, and I'm curious if the information will be made available again. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave

Question for those of you who built James Mathis' excellent Lorelei coaches... What have you done to fix the blockage of the hole for the bogie? In Step 6 you can see the corners of the interior blocking the necessary hole in the train base. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thank you. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave

I am using the train base with 3 holes per end. Using the 10-hole train base won't solve the problem as the bogie is designed to be in the blocked hole. James Mathis designed the Lorelei cars to share a common bogie. I've seen some pictures online of the built coaches but no pictures of how/if the first row of brown bricks are modified. I thought about using some Round Bricks 1x1 but am curious what others have done. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave

Pulling Power Needed for a Complete Santa Fe?

I know you're using Power Functions but for comparison's sake, my Santa Fe El Capitan (ABBA + 11 coaches) has four 9V motors and could probably use at least one more. I put a motor in the rear of each locomotive (with a light on the front locomotive) and two motors under one of the B-units. My biggest issue is the friction in the curves. I'd recommend a long straight so the train can have some momentum going into the curve. Once the train was up to speed, I didn't have any issues with decoupling using the 9V-style buffers and magnets. The weak link is the connection from the second locomotive to the first coach as the coupling on the locomotive is lower than the coach. Hope this helps. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave -

Are you working in Extended mode in LEGO Digital Designer (black bar at the top)? I know some parts aren't available if you use 'normal' mode (blue bar at the top). If you know the part number, you can search by the part number using the search box at the top of the brick palette. You can also search by description. Sometimes it's easier to find a part using search than scrolling through the parts themselves. Cheers from Claremore, OK USA! Dave -

Southern Pacific 'Daylight' 4460 (version 2)

Interesting (to me anyway) you should post about the Southern Pacific... Just yesterday I was reading about the City of San Francisco, a named Southern Pacific train stranded in a blizzard in 1952. And today, after I got back from lunch, I was watching a BNSF autorack train go by the parking lot at work (having just left Cherokee Yard here in Tulsa, OK), looking at the logos on the autoracks, and there was a Souther Pacific autorack! The leaked pictures do not do the passenger train justice. It looks much better "in the brick!" What a way to update 4555: Cargo Station for LEGO City: a new cargo train! I'm glad I was wrong speculating on the possibility of a cargo station for LEGO City trains. The red building, yellow gantry crane, and blue cargo wagon are a great homage to 4555: Cargo Station. For a true homage though, the truck should be blue/white but the green color scheme for cargo vehicles can't be beat! ScotNick -- I thought so too! It's hard to tell from the video though. I've been listening to my Classic Country playlist on my iPod quite a bit lately. Lots of Johnny Cash, Hank Williams (Sr. & Jr.), Waylon Jennings, and George Jones. 'Cash: Ultimate Gospel' is also in the mix. It's one of the best CDs I ever got. The Pentatonix playlist on YouTube is also pretty good when I'm at home browsing the web. Has anyone else built this set? I built two, buying parts from BrickLink. What a fantastic vehicle! I love the construction methods for the front of the cab and the yellow roofs! The use of 6553: Catch is ingenious for the stop on the front trailer wheels. Since I don't have the stickers, I substituted Medium Stone Gray 3010: Brick 1x4, 3622: Brick 1x3, and 3005: Brick 1x1 for the Bright Yellow in the instructions on the bottom of the trailer. Even without the stickers, it still looks sharp and is a great addition to any LEGO city! Cheers from Claremore, OK USA! Dave

I'd recommend Fire Brigade over Grand Emporium, given the choice. If you can purchase Fire Brigade for $215 locally, do it! You may be able to find it cheaper online but then you may have to worry about the cost of shipping. I'd say there much more variation in the building techniques in Fire Brigade than in Grand Emporium. VIP points are only available when making purchases at LEGO stores and Shop@Home. The blue diesel looks great! The windshield is indeed new. It is only two bricks high, built on at least three 87620: Brick 2x2 W. Angle 45 Degrees and at least one 1x? plate. The passenger train reminds me more of 4511: High Speed Train than 7897: Passenger Train for some reason. Cheers from Claremore, OK USA! Dave

The Trans-Clear Panel 1 x 2 x 2 with Porthole Red Pattern are rare but not worth very much. The Light Gray ones (used in your B-Unit) are worth much more. The Red Windscreen 2 x 6 x 2 Train with Trans-Clear Glass is rare and worth a decent amount of money but I wouldn't say in high demand. The Light Gray Brick, Modified 2 x 3 with Curved Top appear to be in demand if the price is right. 9V train motors are always in demand. 4561 doesn't really command a premium but if everything's there and in good shape, you'll obviously get more than just the cost of the motor. The Black Train Base 6 x 34 Split-Level with Bottom Tubes are also worth something and are somewhat in demand. Cheers from Claremore, OK USA! Dave -

Howdy and welcome to Eurobricks! I'm sorry to hear you're selling you LEGO trains. You may want to lower the price on the regulator and 10025 sets on eBay though; you can purchase the regulator and 10025 'new' for less. Definitely check out BrickLink if you've not done so; you can get some great historical pricing. Your 10027 Train Shed (great set!) looks to be the 'classic' Gray and Dark Gray. If you've recently purchased any LEGO, the new colors are Medium Stone Gray and Dark Stone Gray, respectively. To some the new colors appear to have a bluish hue which is why some call the colors light bluish gray and dark bluish gray. I'm interested in your Santa Fe cars, My Own Train rolling stock, and track if you'd like to get in touch. Good luck with your auctions! Cheers from Claremore, OK USA! Dave
