    The Hobbit movies discussion

It seems to be in my local cinema. I can choose from seeing it in regular format, 3D 48 fps format, or 3D Imax format (fps unspecified). Since I can't stand having my eardrums blown out in Imax theatres (seriously, if I had a pacemaker I think it'd stop), that leaves the other 2 for me.

    The Hobbit movies discussion

Is anyone else nervous about seeing the film in 48 fps? I've watched the trailer with a high frame-rate, and it really threw me. I'm still not sure if I like it or not. I kinda felt like I was watching a BBC documentary or something - nothing like that classic cinema-feel. I figure I'll only be able to see this movie for the first time once, so I want it to make a good impression. I'd hate to be 30 minutes into it and still be weirded out by the FR. Regular frame rate or 3D high frame rate? The debate continues...

Dear God... That is incredible! I don't normally find many MOC's aesthetically appealing, but this structure is fantastically gorgeous!

eBay auction link for Gandalf Polybag: Here Courtesy of the Brickset Forums. (And I would hope I don't need to tell anyone not to pay that. )
  5. I was wondering the same thing, mostly because I was excited for another Christmas-themed minifig. I was wondering though, could we be mixing up parts from the Revolutionary soldier, Bumblebee Girl and the Female robot (wind-up)? It would seem so if those lists are accurate, and they sound to me like they are, though I'm a bit new to this. Such a shame, I was rather excited about a toy soldier minifig. (Though I guess there's nothing stopping me from making my own, huh?)
  6. List for series 10 and 11 released here: Series 10 Series 11 I'm going to try and refrain from deciding which ones I like the best before I see them, but it's hard, lol. (Edit: The Man himself beat me to it - see above)
  7. So could this be the Series 9 Cyclops torso? I don't recognize it from anywhere else... Cyclops Torso Edit: Nevermind, it's Clone Wars.
  8. I didn't see anything in their flyer, though you can go through their ads online as well.

    REVIEW: 6260 - Shipwreck Island

These reviews are fantastic. You are doing a great service to those of us who grew up with these sets but will never be able to purchase them at their current prices. What a fantastic trip down memory lane. *happy sigh* (And I remember being just as excited about the small hiding place for the treasure chest as you were. )

    TMNT 2013

Anyone who's met her, I imagine. I made the mistake of starting to watch one of those videos last week and quickly turned it off. It's ridiculous - I can see what the figures look like in the pictures - I don't need to watch a video clip of someone pointing out the obvious details for several minutes. (With or without the wretchedly annoying child...) Really, Chadmin should be posting a disclaimer....

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

No Hobbit sets in Fred Meyers in eastern Washington yet, but that's not unusual. Stuff usually shows up on the west coast first before making it's way over the pass. Perhaps mid-week next week after the holiday (Monday).

I'm not so much either, though the one that really bugs be is the Goblin King. I'm all for him looking scary, but I just find his design...repulsively awful.. Could his jowls possibly look more disgusting? It's...almost offensive. What am I saying? It is offensive. I can definitely see Del Toro's influence in that one. He has a bit of a thing for taking unflattering, gross aspects of anatomy (usually human) and infusing them into his creature design. It worked for Pan's Labyrinth, but I don't particularly care for it in regards to the Hobbit. I like my fantasy scary and cool, not vomit-inducing, lol.

    TMNT 2013

Oh no, that's certainly the suit I had in mind - I can't speak for Aanchir, though. It's a very stout design, and somehow the LEGO version ended up way too tall and thin. A bit stretched out if you will. A lot of it is their choice of pieces - though I'm not familiar enough with the LEGO piece database to know what they could've used instead. (I'm just secretly hoping that that round trans glass piece we see Baxter through isn't one giant sticker...) Ultimately, the final version just doesn't portray the weight and size of the cartoon counterpart. Not that I don't appreciate the try, but still.
