This part is used in the following assembly: You may replace it like this: -

I guess you're right, it could have been simpler at a price of some enlarging, changing shape etc. However, it wouldn't be my MOC anymore! -

Thank you Blakbird for the review of the base! That's a very strange question. The best answer I can imagine is: why not? I'm surprised to hear that it's too large as I tried to make it compact. Have I failed? -

I've moved separate instructions for the base to BrickSafe. -

I've updated the complete instructions file. I use this method too, but my files are getting bigger and bigger. Image resizing has always been my weak point. That's the right way to build it. You're right at every point. I will try to correct this later. Luckily, the excavator has only 2 tracks, so the required number of parts for each of them is easy to calculate. -

Incredible renders Blakbird! And thanks for the tip about the dpi setting! I've noticed that some formatting has been broken so I am now trying to adapt it. That's just some of my issues with LPub. You need 48 pieces for each track, 96 in total. -

That's because LDD doesn't have 15100 yet. I have to admit that it wasn't easy, so I'm not ready to do the same for the rest (and much bigger) part of the model. Sorry. -

Thanks for the suggestion! I've already put the link to Rebrickable at the end of the first post. Other links are temporary because of the limited storage space. Unfortunately, most of them are used for the tracks. You may use some liftarms of different color on the sides of the tracks that are close to the central section. I suggest using the model of the base to make some color alterations. Another suggestion is using yellow parts. Blakbird, could you add the base to your model please? -

Instructions and part list for the base. Note that these files won't be stored there forever. I've got 86.0%! Not counting the assembled model though. -

Terex RH400 on Rebrickable. And here is an LDraw model of the base. -

At least one panel has to be of the new type as it helps to hold gears together. -

I feel that it will never be truly complete. There's still much room for improvement. But at least the glitch with the differentials has been fixed. So the excavator drives slowly but surely. Its speed is approximately 1.5 studs per second. The real machine drives at maximum speed of 2.2 km/h which in this scale would be about 2 studs per second. Pretty close. Unfortunately, those parts are very rare in LBG. -

That's strange. Should be 1101 parts in the base and 4341 in total. -

First of all, thank you Blakbird for your efforts at building this model and for the review! It was very interesting to read! That's correct, it's not required that all the receivers are V2 version as soon as V2 and V1 are interchangeable. It's just a recommendation based on the fact that V2 is an improved version of V1. Another thought is that all the functions can be possibly engaged at the same time. According to lego.com, rechargeable battery box can be used to power 2 XL Motors or 4 Medium motors together. So adding the second battery may be treated as a safety precaution. Could you point the building step or exact position in the model of those troubled parts so that I could try to improve the instructions at least this little bit? To be exact, the model can be disassembled primarily by following the instructions in reverse order. As far as I remember there are no steps that can't be reversed. Unfortunately those rechargeable battery boxes aren't designed for easy removal. For example, in Lego trains the batteries are mounted inside the model and only access to recharging port is provided. Nevertheless, you may indeed replace the batteries by something else for counterweight and use external batteries connected by extension wires. I should point that it's essential for this model to maintain the gaps between the gears and the casing through the drive trains. However, the arm is indeed quite heavy. I admit that my instructions are far from perfection and I don't mind if someone would improve them. However, I imagine a great effort that it would require. Unfortunately, my inventory lacks some pieces required for the test build of the new design. I've already ordered the missing parts and expect them to arrive in 3 week's time. -

Perhaps, but I want to try a different design and find out which one is better in this case. -

Currently you can upload these parts lists as private MOCs on Rebrickable and use them for collecting parts. As soon as instructions for the base are done, the whole model will be submitted to Rebrickable. Actually, my instructions are almost exactly one-piece-at-a-time! However, you need to guess which part is required! It is quite possible. However, it seems much easier to build the superstructure on top of the base than vice versa, keeping in mind that protruding axle. The arm works surprisingly fine despite its weight. Maybe that's because of the L-motors. Thank you very much for your efforts! Your renders look great, definitely better than my photos! :) Small correction: on the rear view, the upper of two axles in the middle should not protrude. The base is supposed to be built prior to the superstructure, and the arm should be attached to the superstructure at a relatively early stage of its construction. Stages 412-445 of 1640 to be exact. Unfortunately, I could not manage to build this model modular. The routes for the wires are marked as red lines in the instructions. Nevertheless, it is indeed very hard to fit all the wires in the limited internal space of the model. Here come the bad news: the base requires rebuilding. After extensive testing it appeared that those old-style differentials are a bit weak for such a load. Now I intend to replace them by new ones. But firstly I need to complete my Great Sorting of parts! -

Instructions for the superstructure are almost done - just a few corrections left. -
Here I present a modular railway station accompanied by a high-speed train. Railway station [ New version ] The station consists of a main building and three platform sections. High speed train [ flickr | Rebrickable ] This large scale train was designed to fit standard Lego track curves although it may look strange when it turns. The train has the following power functions: Motorized bogie. Head lights. M-motor for automatic doors. As there is only one IR receiver, the lights and the train motor are connected to the same channel so that the lights are turned on only when the train is moving. Thank you for your attention!

Building instructions for the high speed train are now available on Rebrickable.

It's like books - you never know what's inside till you open it, and the cover picture gives little help. :)

There are some complications with LDD model of the station, so may I suggest free instructions on Rebrickable instead?
