    Disney Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

I never realized that the Legacy set was a Lego Ideas set. That does make me rethink if Ares will get any Lego tie-ins. I know the Tron sequel has been many years in the making with lots of cancellations and revamps which reminds me a bit of the tumultuous history that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny had and it didn't seem like Lego had any faith in making products for that sequel either. At least we got tie-in sets for some of the original movies though but Indiana Jones was already an established Lego franchise before that, with its own video games to boot. I also remember hearing that the Tron Uprising show was cancelled, not because it wasn't successful, because it was actually popular, but the problem was that it was only popular with adults and not enough with kids. And Disney wanted kids to watch it so that they can sell merchandise and toys. That didn't happen so they cancelled the show after one season. If Disney already feels that Tron doesn't sell toys, I can see Lego skipping Ares. It's funny the Disney movies that did get Lego sets like Prince of Persia and Lone Ranger though. All your ideas for sets for the classic movie sound great. What a shame that Star Wars and Indiana Jones can get so many sets from their original movies but not Tron. Even one collectible set, like the Batman 1989 set, to commemorate the original film would be nice. Maybe the best way to get a Tron set would be for someone to submit a Lego Ideas submission based on the original movie and for that to get accepted. I especially love the ideas for Flynn's Arcade, Sark's cruiser (whatever size it would end up being), and the final battle against the MCP with a large brick-built Sark. The solar sailor I feel would be a favorite.

With Tron: Ares being announced for 2025, I'm wondering if we'll get sets for that since we did for Tron: Legacy. I would actually like to see a minifigure for the classic Tron.

Those are superb! Thanks for sharing! I remember browsing through the different submissions for that contest and there were so many wonderful choices but that one really is inspired. I would love to see storybook sets like that on the classic Walt Disney Princesses with them in their peasant dresses. Same for Ariel, Belle, and Jasmine.

Yes, that's true for Mary Poppins. I had no idea that there could be a licensing issue with the MGM Oz movie. WB has the rights to The Wizard of Oz and they've never had a problem with Lego adapting their other properties like the Looney Tunes, DC and LOTR. I did think it was odd though that last year for WB's 100th Anniversary they never considered making a special Oz set. Maybe there is some merchandising issue with licensing because I remember a few years back there was lots of rumors and speculation about Oz sets. I would love to see a whole CMF series on Oz with the different types of munchkins plus the characters you listed. Dorothy could get her new hairstyle from the Emerald City. If the wishing well in the Snow White set had been its own separate GWP, i wonder if we could have gotten a minifig for her in her rags. And yes, I thought the CMF could have given us Aurora as Briar Rose and the Maleficent set could have featured her in her princess gown (preferably blue). Wouldn't it be more expensive to repackage a set? Oops I'm so sorry, it is BTS Jimin! I'm actually using the Cedric head for my custom Tarzan and got them mixed up when I was writing out the parts. Cedric has the lines on his face to portray the angular nature of Disney's Tarzan's face without making him look too old. The cocky grin for Jimin seemed perfect for John Smith and has matching brown eyebrows as well (I saw a custom John Smith using Luke's face but John Smith doesn't have blonde eyebrows and his face isn't that naive and innocent either). The hairpiece Jimin used could also work for John Smith but in bright light yellow if the Thor hair isn't preferable. I'm also using BTS Suga's head for Cinderella's prince, Henry. I thought Henry and Florian looked awful with the heads Lego gave them, way too old looking. Suga's head is generic enough and even has a rather practiced but bored alternate face that suits Henry when he's bored at the ball. For Florian, I'm using Frodo's head from Rivendell because he looks young and boyish enough to match Snow White. The alternate face doesn't have much use unless you consider him cursed by the Evil Queen though.

Probably The Hunchback of Notre Dame since we're getting an Architecture set for Notre Dame. With that covered, I wouldn't expect to see any other locations or scenes from the movie that could get their own set. A CMF or variety type set (like a parade set) would be the best way to get Quasimodo and Esmeralda. Or maybe another villains icons type set to get Frollo or whatever the set would be themed after. Speaking of Bambi, I'd love to get Thumper and Flower. As well as Timothy Mouse from Dumbo. Wish we had more animal characters including Simba, Timon, Pumbaa, Figaro, Jaq, Gus, Abu, Meeko, Percy, Pongo, Perdita, Lady, Tramp, etc. If Disney movies got regular waves of sets like Star Wars and Harry Potter does, a village set for BATB could be likely in the Diagon Alley style. But considering we're lucky to get a few sets from specific films, if we ever did get a BATB set, it would probably be the ballroom scene. I also think Lego is probably done with Disney cottages for now. Maybe in a few years we could see Briar Rose's cottage or Belle's. Another good reason to portray a scene like Gaston's failed marriage attempt is we could get a new Gaston in his wedding suit. Honestly, I'd love to see a full-scale Beauty and the Beast castle like the Disney castles we've gotten so far. That way, it could feature every major room from the movie so we don't have to pick and choice between the ballroom, library, dining room, West Wing, etc. For minifigs, we could also get the enchanted objects in human form. Some stained glass pieces as well from the beginning or ending of the movie.

It's probably the most iconic family film after The Wizard of Oz and Oz never got any sets either, so I wonder if that indicates that Lego thinks these films wouldn't be able to sell standalone sets. This year is actually the anniversary for a lot of Disney classics besides Mary Poppins including Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, and The Lion King (also Tarzan but Disney doesn't have the rights for that anymore). We're getting Sleeping Beauty and Lion King sets this year so maybe fingers crossed for Mary Poppins or at least the announcement of the Lego Ideas set being approved. Good point about Jolly Holiday. In fact, when Barbie did a line of Mary Poppins dolls many years ago, they also stuck with the Jolly Holiday theme for Mary Poppins, Bert, and the Banks Children. You could easily make a carousel set out of it with the horses. Throw in some penguin waters or the band. Maybe they could even power the carousel to make it rotate on its own?

It would be interesting if Disney could get a D2C set every year depending on how well this one sells. We've also been lucky that we've had four Disney submissions made into sets from Lego Ideas between Steamboat Willie, Winnie the Pooh, Hocus Pocus, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Of course, that isn't including the ones rejected (some over and over) like Ratatouille, Aladdin's Friend Like Me, Lilo & Stitch, Monsters Inc, etc. Right now, there's a Mary Poppins set based on Cherry Tree Lane up for review but it's also been rejected in the past before. I've always wanted a Mary Poppins set and minifigures so I hope it gets approved but I also think the original submission was far superior. That one focused entirely on the 1964 classic. This new one, to justify another entry, incorporated Mary Poppins Returns and I can see that hurting it in the long run. That film was a flop and left no impact on audiences. Even Disney cancelled their Mary Poppins Epcot expansion afterwards so I can see the sequel's inclusion in this set hurting it. For example, Glynis Johns' Mrs. Banks was in the original submission but she was removed from the new one to make way for sequel characters. There's something particularly irksome about taking away the mother of the Banks children for a bunch of sequel nobodies, especially when the film's entire theme was about reuniting a family but then we might not be even able to that in the actual set. It feels even more out of touch considering Glynis Johns just passed away two months ago at the age of 100, so if the set does get approved, I hope Disney/Lego retools it to being just based on the original film again. So as to what sets we could expect next, I feel the following are the most likely: Geppetto's Workshop from Pinocchio Mad Tea Party from Alice in Wonderland Ballroom diorama from Beauty and the Beast Cherry Tree Lane from Mary Poppins The Jolly Roger from Peter Pan (especially since there's been a lot of requests for a Disney pirate ship and Lego seems to love going back to Peter Pan. What people really want is a revamp of the Black Pearl from POTC but until there are more POTC movies again, I don't see that happening. And even if we do get more POTC movies, they likely won't feature Jack Sparrow anymore since Johnny Depp said he refuses to work with Disney again when they didn't support him, so I can see a new movies without him getting the Dial of Destiny treatment and no sets assuming those movies are ever even made). BATB has so many iconic scenes that you can get away with making just about any of them into a diorama or set. The ballroom but also the West Wing, dining room, library, etc. I could even see a village set like the Medieval Market Village, featuring Maurice and Belle's cottage, Gaston's tavern, the bookshop, the bakery, etc. with a bunch of minifigs based on the villagers like Belle, Maurice, Gaston, LeFou, the Bimbettes, the librarian, and the baker. You could throw in lots of animals too like the sheep at the fountain, the pigs and chickens at Belle's farm, and of course Philippe the horse. Maurice's contraption that Chip uses at the end to save Belle and Maurice from being locked up in the cellar could also find a place here.

Meeko is a walkaround character in the Disney Parks, like Tinker Bell, Jiminy Cricket, Chip and Dale, so that is a possibility. Although so is Pluto and we didn't get a full minifigure for him. Personally I'd prefer a smaller version for Meeko and also Percy to match. It would be nice to see some birds appear in Lego form as well like Flit, Scuttle, Zazu, Iago, and Maleficent's raven Diablo. Until we get an official John Smith minifigure, I would recommend this MOC design for him because you can more or less replicate him with all official pieces. bright light yellow hair from Thor cocky grin face from Cedric Diggory/Solo medium blue armor chestplate (never seen this in a set but it's available in this color on BL. You can also use the traditional silver/gray armor which also does the trick but I feel like using that makes him come across less like Disney's John Smith and more like a custom minifigure) bright light blue torso from Fleur Delacour (it's hard to tell in the photo but it's a lighter shade of blue than the armor. It's the color of Cinderella's minifigure whereas the armor is the color of Stitch, Genie, and Alice). legs from Oswald

Finished building the cottage set. It truly looks lovely especially next to Winnie the Pooh's house. Space is a bit cramped inside though so it's hard to place the dwarfs around, like in their beds or at the dinner table. There seems to be a trend of the character's names being hidden. Like the flowers around Snow White's coffin almost completely cover up her name on both sides. The dwarfs' names on their beds are also barely visible because Doc's bed covers most of them. Two other small nitpicks are that the wishing well could have been a bit higher (an easy fix) or that Grumpy's hat I feel is too light a brown. Hope that piece ends up coming out in more colors.

It's only available on Day 1 for VIP members so for the first few days it definitely won't be available at other retailers. Not sure about afterwards. Also review is up for anyone who wants a closer look at the set. I'm glad Snow White's name on the coffin and Grumpy's name on the pie are printed pieces. https://www.brothers-brick.com/2024/02/22/lego-disney-43242-snow-white-and-the-seven-dwarfs-cottage-a-beloved-classic-review/#comments

Finally found an image of what's on the right side of the fireplace. It's the stocking that Snow White finds when she first enters the cottage. There were stockings draped over the fireplace as well before she cleans up.

    Disney Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Good choices. I got some birds as well, mainly doves to add to the wishing well. I thought about the baby Rocket Raccoons, but I see them and I have the same issue you have with Bambi. As a Disney fan, I would recommend ordering Bambi just for himself rather than to include with Snow White. I know I BLed Bambi and Dumbo to add them to my Disney roster. Yeah, it's surprising about the bunnies as well as how many raccoon versions we've gotten so far but not a standard raccoon. Would have liked to have seen a minifig-compatible Meeko with Pocahontas. I also agree though that the amount of animals we did get in the set is fine and in fact, more than I expected or hoped for. But I do hope some of those animals mentioned end up being created in future sets. Some seem long overdue.

The Human Torch. He started off as Spider-Man's rival/reluctant ally but they became close friends and are considered to have one of the better known superhero friendships. Firestar replaced the Torch in the Amazing Friends show because the rights for the Torch weren't available. His omission was definitely an obvious one based on Lego not making anything with the FF. Personally I would have liked to have seen Elektra included in the Daily Buglet set as well since it already featured Daredevil and Punisher. No idea. I feel like his character is too popular to relegate to a character encyclopedia. If Lego did make a new Deadpool minifig, they'd want to include him in a set since that would sell better than a book I imagine.

Which animals are you gathering? I wish there were non-Bambi deer, raccoons, chipmunks, and beige-colored rabbits. I pilfered the CMF Red Riding Hood's basket for the Witch in the Villains Icons set. Also updated Snow White to give her a proper cape and the Prince got a more accurate hairstyle and head. I've been using the BTS minifig heads for all the prince characters including Florian, Henry, and a custom John Smith. Ironically enough it would have probably been cheaper to just buy the BTS set rather than get each minifig individually on BL. I find their faces to be youthful and "princely" looking enough, certainly better choices than what Lego used for Florian and Henry.

I can also see Deadpool being cut because they didn't want to include any X-Men characters. For the same reason Iceman wasn't included despite being one of Spider-Man's Amazing Friends.

    Wizarding World 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

That's a good point. It wouldn't be very helpful to have a protagonist who could look like anyone and be in any house. Even the other students who are established characters like Sebastian, Natsai, Poppy, Amit, Ominis, etc. could easily be created with spare parts and spare Hogwarts uniforms. The Hogwarts trunk already accomplishes that.

    Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

That makes more sense than the casting they did go with. I don't get why they used him when they admitted it was only going to be a one-time thing. Would have had more of an audience reaction if they brought back Ioan Gruffudd. Classrooms weren't a thing in the 90s show. By the 90s, the X-Mansion had stopped being a school and didn't become one again until the movies. I would love to see bedrooms for each of the X-Men, like a Japanese-themed one for Wolverine, some southern touches for Rogue and Gambit's bedrooms, etc. In the comics, Storm's bedroom is just the attic where she keeps her garden of plants but I don't think the 90s show went that route. A somewhat missed opportunity is that if we had gotten the entire core X-Men team in the sets and CMF series so far, the X-Mansion set could have featured them in their civilian clothes or pajamas instead. Out of the new additions to the team (Morph, Bishop, Sunspot, Nightcrawler), I think Morph is the most likely to be a part of the X-Mansion set because he's always been a fan favorite character (apparently Michael Jackson's fav character too). I'm sure Lego won't miss out on a chance to include him.

    Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

I've always loved those two FF movies. In fact, they were more or less my introduction to Marvel. I was a fan of the Raimi Spider-Man movies but it was the 2005 FF movie that got me into comics and eventually the X-Men. The cast had a good dynamic and I would have liked to have seen a third movie. Hoping they might show up in Deadpool and Wolverine since there have been rumors about Doom coming back. I hope Disney doesn't forget that even in the 2005 movie, they made Sue a scientist herself like Reed. So there are ways to "update" the character without having to put down the others. The girlboss thing is actually even criticized in feminist circles as being really regressive and one-note. I know Marvel is protective of Reed and Sue as a couple (even if they have no regard for any other classic couples like Scott and Jean, Peter and MJ, Hank and Janet, Wanda and Vision) so I don't think Marvel would let Disney do that to their first family/first couple. I hope not anyway.

    Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Oh I see. I always liked her character the most so I wouldn't mind that but knowing Disney, the execution would be horrible. They would be better off prioritizing both Reed and Sue as a couple, making both equals. I felt the 2005 FF and its sequel did a good job of making the characters feel like a true ensemble where no one overshadowed another. I agree, GOTG Vol. 3 and NWH were probably the best received post-Endgame MCU movies and GOTG in particular was their only hit film last year during Disney's sorry excuse for a 100th anniversary. I don't know if there is demand for more GOTG sets like there was for more NWH sets, but out of all the Phase 4 MCU movies, it's probably the best candidate.

    Wizarding World 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

The success of Hogwarts Legacy and rumors that a sequel is more a when than an if is making me wonder if we could ever get sets on the games. That's never been an issue with Star Wars but Harry Potter isn't Star Wars, so I don't know.

    Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

I said it a few months ago and got backlash as well if it makes you feel better. I like the cast. I'm never a fan of when Hollywood starts trying to push a certain actor or actress and casts them in everything. Usually that hype doesn't last long and doesn't age well. I don't mind Pedro Pascal's casting but I don't like the facial hair and want that gone. Adam Driver was asked but I think he's burnt by Disney after they killed off his Ben Solo in The Rise of Skywalker. They wanted him for Reed and also Captain Hook in that abominable Disney+ Peter Pan remake but he flat out refused that too. I don't blame Adam, after the way Disney disrespected him as an actor. Keep in mind that Disney didn't even want to cast him for Star Wars. He was Kathleen Kennedy's choice and she heavily championed him to be cast when he was still an unknown but Bob Iger was against him and fought hard to cast someone else (Eddie Redmayne as Kylo Ren was his choice). What are the FF leaks?

    Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Another potential female character for the CMF series is the Goblin Queen. Lots of merchandise for her showing up and it looks like she's a spoiler-heavy part of X-Men '97. I don't think Wanda will show up in the show, let alone get a minifigure of her from there, but I would love to see a comic accurate minifig for her. Same for some other characters like Hawkeye, Black Widow, Quicksilver, Vision, Wasp, etc.
