    Ideas for New Action Themes

I recently got an idea for a female-orientated Action series for Lego which I put up on Cuusoo, unfortunately no supports thus far, but that's ok, when I get more time (and over my sickness) I will make some more prototypes for it... Regardless, the story revolves around an agency of female Spies, not unalike Charlie's Angel's but instead run by an older woman with a prosthetic arm. I thought that this would be a great female alternative to Ninjago but a male alternative to Friends, whilst still giving us plenty of new female minifigures, also being spies they would have a couple of cool, new clothing options, and possibly even multiple options per set for the game play. I called it FEMME FORCE Super Spies, which is a dumb name, sure, but so is Star Wars when you say it enough times in a row haha. Heck, so is Buffy the Vamp Slayer and look how good that was, I digress. Anyone who has any ideas for this series, feel free to post a message to the project - http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/17422 Any supports will be warmly received with a *high five* haha but I'm not here to canvass, simply to share what would be my ideal Action series as it would give our collection a heap more female options. (too much testosterone in Legoland)

    The View thread

Any other stay-at-home parents like to watch daytime TV like The View? I thought I'd start a thread since it's on right now and it's very topical, always give people something to whinge or rant about haha Anyways, yeah, I'm a stay-at-home dad so thought there might be others around also into Lego :)

    Is this possible?

This is the one thing that shits me (sorry if we're not allowed to swear, please don't ban me) about the CMF's, people (pigs) at the shops who open up packets to try to find the one they want. One time I saw 6 packets opened, it's rude, it's piggish and it's brat behaviour. If I catch them doing it I don't knwo fi I'd be brave enough to stand up to them haha :S but it's a shame, it takes the fun out of the game sorry this happened, that must've cost heaps!

    Lego Cuusoo

I've not tried Technic yet, but I do have some (15 haha) projects on Cuusoo, is there a thread somewhere on this site where we can submit our cuusoo designs for people to vote for them?

    Cars Licensed Lego Sets

This is why I question if the series was worthy of making overall, the sets are fairly hollow and skimping on a lot, well, seem to be; and I think that's got a lot to do with so many pieces going into making the cars and why I question if the series was worhy of putting into Lego in the first place. With the new Planes TV/DVD Movie being released in the future, we may get more sets, but they will most likely be tied in with that and not the first film like some people like.

    Cars Licensed Lego Sets

Yeah, I would love some film 1 sets too! IO guess this is what Cuusoo is for haha Perhaps with the 5 years in between films and the amount of merchandise we got in those years, people just shrugged these off... If anything, they should've done a full Pixar range with a small set and large set from every film, that would allow them 6 Toy Story and 4 Cars - I know I would've loved to have bought Wall-E Lego and Ratatouille as those films are my favourites. Oooh, from Cars 1 I would've loved them to have done the traffic cone motel!

    What did you buy today?

There's a bit toooo much pink for my liking, but there's enough other interesting colours and cool unique pieces that I dig them also haha - Of course the big gripe being the minidolls, but Andrea comes with cool hair that looks good on other minifigs.

    Cars Licensed Lego Sets

I think people might've suffered from a bit of Cars fatigue, like Shrek a year or two earlier, the merchandising reach was phenomenal especially for what many perceive to be Pixars first dud. But since Kids care not about quality of film, it's a surprise to hear Cars didn't sell as well. Add in price factor (across all Cars march) and I'd wager more people would've bought the die-cast toys as opposed to Lego. I think some of the printed pieces are fantastic, especially the bumper bars and as you say, the eyes. I'm yet to make a Moc out of them though as I'm really crappy with Lego (am slowly getting better) I've had a look online for the V8 cafe, a few places are around $100 so will look for something a bit more affordable haha

    What did you buy today?

Holy mother of Lego, am dead jelly haha - We have the Ninjago jet fighter, was $23 at Big W, not sure if that's a good price, but I really like the set myself (plus I'm sure kids would have fun with it) so I felt good about that buy - But the elastic band has mysteriously disappeared from my "box of things to keep safe" (dresses, stickers, string etc) So that's odd, but all the same, EXCELLENT haul! Single parent, watching prices is my day job haha - The City of Atlantis doesn't look as epic as the Portal of Atlantis ($70 also, total bargin for Oz!) but the 5 minifigs are great, plus has some new-for-us pieces so I'm confident this was a good buy also haha No wokkas, I'm only new so haven't learned how to ... 'play the game' yet :) We have the Forbidden Forest, or should I say the Forbidden Tree... It was one of the first sets I bought and because I didn't really know what I was doing with looking for Lego bargins, I think I may have been thoroughly overcharged for it, never mind, it has the Narcissa Malfoy minifig and as soon as I get Quidditch and/or Hogwarts Express then I shall have all 3 Malfoys, woohoo! BUT, Along with my aforementioned purchases, I also bought $24 worth of Series 7 minifigs - in which we got 3 repeats (Hippie, Daredevil and Aztec) but got 2 new ones; the Bride (she's expensive on her own on ebay!) and the Bagpiper (woohoo!) PLUS when I got home, there was 2 more minifigs in the mail from ebay- Ice Skater from series 4 and Han Solo with Hoth hoodie jacket thing (whcih isn't as rare as I hoped haha but was only 99c) OOOH and I also lay-byed the Kingdoms Mill which comes with about 5 minifigs and plenty of animals (we'll have a zoo soon) and that was $78 - which is about $10 more than the USA RRP and has about 630 pieces so I'm deffo pleased witht hat buy, though I would've liked it have been a bit cheaper, but not complaining at a 12c or so a piece ratio. So today, we added 17 more Minifigs to our growing army, should get more in the mail tomorrow... Will have to post a photo of them on here one day :) But YYAAAYYYY lego haul! All I've built so far is the Bakery set, which has an awesome sauce printed piece, will make the rest of them slowly over the next week or so :)

    Rare Han Solo Minifig

Recently I bought a rare-ish 2009 Han Solo minifigure, it was only available in one set, and as a Comic-Con exclusive... for cheaper than the price of a Collectible minifigure... http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?M=sw253&in=S bought it 99c plus $1.99postage - aussie prices for CMF's are about $4.75 - did I get a good bargain? Also, since Star Wars sets are expensive, what awesome - and rare- sets have you managed to get for a bargain price??

    What did you buy today?

Tomorrow I'm going to pick up a lay by that has about $150 worth of Lego sets! I can't find the lay-by docket but in it is... Superheroes - Catwoman City Cycle $23.84 Friends Andreas Stage - $14.95 - Pet Patrol $14.95 - Outdoor Bakery $8.83 and the one I'm looking forward to; Atalantis - City of Atlantis $70 - marked down from about $110-$120 Does anyone have these sets? I look forward to the 80+ grooved column pieces in the City of Atlantis as that is a lot to have of one brick type. I can get the Catwoman set online for $19.30 with free postage so I'm thinking of cancelling that order and buying it online... hmmm Should I? It'll take about 2 weeks to get here knowing Fishpond... or I can get it for $27 on ebay hahaha - ridiculous but I won't go there, gurlfran... Some of the friends sets I can get online for cheaper but if I worry about that then it will ruin my lego haul tomorrow, decisions decisions! Anyone else doing a Haul this week?

Which is your favorite LEGO set?

Definitely The Burrow set, followed by Atlantis; Portal of Atlantis which is a fun set, if a little uninspired in design, but comes with come fabulous minifigs, I think there's 7 all up, yeah, 7... of the smaller sets... I think maybe the POTC Fountain of Youth because it comes with the 3 Pirates (and I think a skeleton) as well as some cool transparent blue pieces, and some dark green ooh, and the cool waterfall sheet... it's only a small set but it's cute!

    Cars Licensed Lego Sets

I think I only really want the V8 Cafe, the boat one looks too small for the price but the oil rig looks cool! worthy of our time and money... and since most of the pieces seem to go into the cars, worhty of being interpreted into Lego. :)

    Themes you regret not getting

Ummm, for me definitely the Harry Potter sets (cue: everyone groans) - But since I'm gay I wasn't to know I was going to be gaining a baby in 2010, so I've missed out on many sets and am only just now trying to buy up all the 2010-2011 waves of HP sets- only 4 more to go! Not including polybags of which I only have and only want one but need Quidditch, Hogwarts Express, Hagrid's Cabin and Hogwarts Castle... Pretty sure that's all I need. I got the Burrow as one of the first sets I bought and I'm really pleased with myself *pats self on back*

    Collectable Minifigures Challenge

I often play a game with my niece where we split up all the Minifigure pieces into separate containers then build new characters with them by selecting one piece at a time whilst blind-folded. We come up with outrageous creations at random and it inspired me to make up a game for this message board, so here goes; Using all your Collectable Minifigures only (no Atalntis or Harry Potter/Star Wars, only the CMF's) try to make as many NEW characters as possible; of course don't be blind, properly think about it and what pieces you can match up; BUT here are your rules; All pieces must be from the CMF's. Only ONE piece per existing minifig can be used on a new one- so you can't use the Tennis Champ's body AND legs and only give him new head/hair, only one piece from the tennis champ can be used. Only props can be shared with their original counterparts. Props must only come from the CMF selection. Make a minimum of 3 to tie-in with a pre-existing CMF. Here's some I prepared earlier... They are. in no particular order; Monster's Bride Bikie Candy Man Pirate King Internet Troll Theatre Usher Roboticop Mermaid Wildlife Warrior Thrillseeker Science Teacher SuperHeroine Drag Queen Disco Diva Gymnast Ska Bassist Post your pics on here, good luck! I can't wait to see what people come up with as it'll inspire me to get better haha

    Rare Han Solo Minifig

haha yeah I wasn't sure, so I put the -ish haha, either way, considering the price for many lego figs/sets, 99c isn't half bad! TBH I'm not even a star wars fan lol *please don't hate me*

Who buys whole sets for figs

I'd be lying if I said the selection of minifigs wasn't an added factor in choosing what set to buy- ie Professor Sprout in the Battle of Hogwarts set, I absolutely adore Miriam Margolyes and her work in and outside of Potter so to me, that minifig is worth $20 more than the others in the set which is what helped me swallow the price I was charged. The amount of minifigs also plays a part, but mostly, I buy large sets for the pieces. With Lego, More is More, I've seen the breath taking MOCs people have made and whilst I don't have enough/right type of pieces yet- the only way to get there is through large sets. So I would say Minifig selection was about 30% of my decision process, along with price-per-piece and brick selection of set.
